I'd say it's the "Cool & Quiet" technology that AMD 64 cpu's offer. It only uses full power when needed. Mine: EDIT: Replaced pics with more clocking power versions. -
Please don't give the answers of the test away. If you plan to cheat by googling for answers, at least have the decency to put down what you would have selected, even if it's the wrong answer. We want to see real test results/scores! This is only a test. Cheating to alter your score in any way would be a shame. This one is better than the last one I put up.

That's sounds like you might have corrupt system files that are causing your system to run sluggishly. IMO, it's not worth it to try fixing the issue with 3rd party tools. It would be much better to do a fresh install. I'm currently going through similar issues. I installed Daemon Tools and something went wrong. The installer ran into problems and just quit. I didn't read into the fact that it would screw up the system. I rebooted, but when I got back to the desktop I noticed that there were not any virtual drives and that things were running slower than usual. Daemon Tools wasn't even showing up in Add/Remove Programs. I knew that I had issues (just that damn quick!). I deleted everything on my system that associated itself with Daemon Tools, but it didn't help. Anyway, right after that, I was in the middle of reinstalling MS Office 2003 when my system locked up. I had no choice but to perform an illegal shutdown. After that, the system wouldn't boot up. Safe Mode or Last Known Configuration That Worked couldn't get me in. I popped in the Windows XP Pro disc and allowed it to detect my current operating system and then proceeded to repair Windows by installing over the previous version. This was all done through the steps designated on the disc. I finally got back into Windows, reinstalled all my updates/programs that I use, but the system just isn't the same. The biggest factor is that I can feel the difference. So, I'm going to operate off of Windows Vista Ultimate Build 5231 from my other HD until I fresh install tomorrow (hopefully). I recommend you do the same (fresh install that is).

If I get my paper up properly, that can be arranged.

AMD64 is way fast. I have a socket 754, but my next rig will definitely have 939 pin architecture. I try to build a new rig or update my current one every year. I'm going for a complete overhaul from the ground up this time. Sometime in 2006, I think I'll be going with one of these: AMD Athlon

Comcast will definitely hold its own. It's cheaper, plus you get to watch TV on a great deal. You won't notice the upload speed difference too much at all. The only way you'd notice is if you went from like 2000Kbps or 1500Kbps to 768Kbps (upload). :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 966 Kbps about 1 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Upload Speed is:: 118 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server1) Test Time:: Wed Oct 19 13:36:06 EDT 2005 Bottom Line:: 17X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 8.68 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 176 % faster than the average for host (comcast.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-FLGIW5ROT

I'd make the switch. You would have a nice selection of packages to choose from. 4000/384 6000/384 8000/768

Welcome to TestMy.net Speedfreek. Enjoy your stay. What are your advertised speeds?

Right.

I have 8Mbps down, and when I download from fast servers, I get similar results. That's exactly where you should be.

I've attached a copy of the video for all to see. Like .s1 stated, something is getting cached during the long pause. That is causing the results to just zip across. Nyforever, if you want to see if those speeds are accurate, download this: [ftp=ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/pub/test64]ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/pub/test64[/ftp] This is the OOL FTP test. Scroll to Step 4 to observe. It's has a very fast ftp transfer with low latency. Allow the file to complete using Windows download manager (no accelerators like DAP, Get Right), and post a screenshot of the results. Don't forget to uncheck the box that closes the results upon completion. It will tell you your average transfer speed.

If you keep getting the bios message, you need go in, double check everything (like making sure that the HD is still setup as one of the boot devices), and save the bios correctly. That should take care of the bios message. If you save your settings but continue to get the message, try clearing your cmos. How old is the cmos battery? When they go bad, it screws the system up in a way that makes you think the problem is bigger than what it is. You don't have to lose all you information if you have enough space left on the drive. That will allow you to create a new partition for a fresh copy of Windows completely separate from your current info. During installation, and if the system detects the current OS correctly, you will have the option to repair the current version of Windows by restoring damaged system files that are the cause of you not getting in. When prompted, you will have to proceed as if you are trying to install a fresh copy of Windows in order for the system to inform you that it has detected another copy of Windows. Don't mistake this for the Recovery Console which will be one of the options given. Before you get that far, you will first have an option that will give you access to the drive through DOS (Recovery Console). You will be able to log into the current OS and execute various commands. Pressing "R" will get you to the login prompt. Once logged on, you will be given the opportunity to write a new MBR (Master Boot Record), copy/delete files, run chkdsk (Check Disk), or carry out a host of other actions. Typing in "help" from the DOS prompt will display a list of what you can do. This can all be done from a Windows XP disc. Hope that helps out.

The dual tuner lets you do two things at once: watch a live program while recording another, record two programs that are on at the same time
