Do you have a 2.4ghz phone station near the wireless router? Either way try unplugging any wireless phone and make a call to the house and see if it happens when a wired phone is answered.. You say it is only on your laptop?
-
Yes, his resources are being used while you transfer data to and from the hard drives. Most likely a resource issue.. Either CPU or more likely memory related.. There is one out there that is pretty popular on this forum.. However, I can not recall it off the top of my head right now...

These should be some type of marking on the board.. look around the PCI slots.. If that doesnt work.. Download SiSoftware Sandra and run the motherboard module under Hardware.. Post those results.. It should give you a manufacture and model number.. that should give you a decent idea where to get the driver from.

So Armstrong Cable wants $5 to share the internet via router!

If the email didnt say that you had to use that equipment then dont worry about.. My guess that your ISP just signed a contract with zoom to provide equipment... You should be able to run your setup as it is right now... -
I use both.. Wireless is a little slower but not by much.. I have never tried to game on it..

MAC versions: http://lowendmac.com/musings/06/0217.html http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/31662&vid=369673 <- Actually reads files from the drive.. Windows... I have not the slightest clue.. I would also like a utility that would prevent this..

Athlon is AMD's flag ship.. Kinda like Pentium is Intels.. The only thing that I would caution against as far as what you are trying to do here.. there is going to be a point that you will not be able to upgrade on the 754 platform... As it stands right now the 939 is in the process of being phased out, leaving the 754 and the AM2.. The original idea, or from what I have read, was that all new processors would be developed for the AM2.. Leaving the 754 for the Sempron and other budget CPUs..

Most likely you are going to need motherboard, memory, and processor.. Since 754 didn't support DDR2.. The memory is not the fastest that the board supports.. But it will get you started.. CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model VS2GBKIT533D2 - Retail Item #: N82E16820145527 $129.99 ECS 945G-M3 (V3.0) LGA 775 Intel 945G Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail Item #: N82E16813135032 $15.00 Mail-in Rebate $77.99 Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Conroe 1.86GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6300 - Retail Item #: N82E16819115005 $183.00 All of this for about $390.. As long as you have a decent GPU you should be set..

Welcome to the forum.. Looking at what you are saying seems to lead to the large file issue that Tim brought up... There is a Linksys fix out there right now with new firmware released on 2/09/07 for most of the versions.. I would try that first.. If that does not work and depending on what model of the WRT54G you own.. you would have the option to flash the router with 3rd party firmware.. The most popular on this forum is DD-WRT.. Here is a guide: http://www.testmy.net/t-12222 As far as your running dual NICs.. Depending on the manufacturer, I know that the Intel Pro NICs can bond, you can bond the NICs and get 2x the speed for downloads on large files. What basically happens is each connection is used separately.. But you wouldnt see any speed up on daily surfing.. Depending on what firmware you looked at, yes it is sometime difficult.. DD-WRT you can do everything pretty much from the default web page console. It is just a matter of uploading the new firmware.

They will charge you again for the new router.. and keep your old one.. I would see if you can reflash your router before you do anything else.. If you are able to get internet for some amount of time you should still be able to reflash..

Umm backup... Like pointed out earlier... Run the a disk sweep on the system and also try to fix the MBR with the repair function.. I know that XP that is part of the recovery console.. but I have not played with Vista yet to know all of the ins and outs..

Alright I looked around... One thing that I would try is pinging site with different size packets.. start at 1500 and move down.. Then take that number and set it as your MTU.. 1492 is normally the right size for PPPoE connections.. The other thing that might help is downloading the latest version of the firmware from Linksys... It looks like the latest version is a huge fix addressing the Bit torrent problems on the WRT54 series..

hahaha.. well i guess you could ask them to reinstall the portal...

Alright.. Check your personal firewall to make sure it is allowing the traffic out. As far as ports being open.. the tracert used ICMP packets.. It has nothing to do with a game working or not. What you are seeing in the tracert is a router dropping the packets before they enter into the WoW network and get to the server. This practice is pretty normal on gaming servers and other servers who have been DoSed before. Does the game not connect? It could be that your local admin does not have the port open.

most of the time when I have seen it work it is done from the Vista boot loader.. I had Beta 1 dual booting for a while.. Check out this site... http://www.windowstalk.org/dual_boot_vista.htm

Maximum number of connections is possible.. I saw this on a 2003 box while in lab.. Terminal Services limits the number or remote logons to 2 at any one given time.. To deal with that run this command.. mstsc -v:servername /F -console and then clear or close the TS sessions that are currently running.. For the other errors make sure that all of your traffic is being pushed out onto the VPN tunnel and not the local network.

First welcome to the forum... Alright.. I am assuming that you planned to run some type of X11 GUI on top of Debian? Like Gnome or KDE.. I would start by trying to find the /usr/X11/bin folder. There should be a file called xorgconfig.. execute this file.. What this basically does it rewrite the X11 file to fit onto your screen. The folder could be located else where like /usr/X11R6 but it will be in the /usr directory. The other thing is how in the world did you installed Debian without specifying a partition?

fun... I am wondering if WHM doesnt allow the users to see the host drive for security reasons and so that inexperienced administrators dont reformat their boxes..

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/columns/cableguy/cg1105.mspx Take a look at that.. it looks like the newer stack operates much like the linux stack.. It determines the best windows for you and that is what you use. I dont have a vista machine to play with, yet, but I am sure that there is a registry hack or option located in the network card properties to disable the Auto-window feature.

http://www.testmy.net/tools/test/scheduled_test.php that is the best way to go right now.. as far as running it as a service.. I am going to have to look into that to see if that would even be possible.. Any chance that you have a linux box sitting around somewhere? You could use cron to run a command that would run the speed test without an interface, I am pretty sure.

ISP Database Project Suggestions/Ideas
Swimmer replied to Swimmer's topic in Ideas to make testmy.net better?
As of right now I am still working on it... The server is down at my place as I am not there right now I should have to done shortly.. maybe.. -
Very few consumer companies offer US based tech support.. if that is what you have to have then might want to look into cisco.. but it is going to be $$$$$
-
Yup pretty much you are better off just doing everything the "old" fashion way..

From what I know a .bmp doesn't cut it.. you have to electronically sign the email.. http://www.silanis.com/site/resource_center/knowledge_center/index.php?topic=technology_differences That is the best resource that I have read on the topic..

Trying to configure a wired router and a wireless router?
Swimmer replied to PastorP's topic in Networking and Hardware
That does not segment the networks like you are looking for.. that setup is an AP, Access point, on top of the existing server network..
