  1. just leave the router on? My guess is that it takes some time for the router to sync with Verizon's authentication servers.. They are still using PPPoE..
  2. Welcome to the forum... Then only thing that I can think of is that the ports that are needed to run the program are not open.. That could cause the slower downloads.. It also could be that your ISP has decided to place QoS on their network and place P2P traffic at the bottom.. leading to slower speeds.
  3. It is because the ip address does not register with one particular ISP.. So you are seeing the last few digits.. what happens most of the time is that your ISP has put into service some new addresses. It will just take some time before it propagates though the network.
  4. Just the DNS stuff.. the IPs could still be assigned by DHCP..
  5. haha... you should be able to.. If you go into local area connection advanced -> DNS tab. you should be able to add as many DNS servers as you like.. I am pretty sure that if you kill dynamic DNS on your router and assign each computer what DNS server you choose it will work..
  6. Alright added the final part to this script.. The Google Map API.. An official version tomorrow.. thanks guys.
  7. Alright now that I have downloaded your sweet little file.. since I am not an audio expert.. I have a pair of logitech Z-2200 http://www.fastlanehw.com/reviews.php?i=98&page=2 and a Creative Labs Audigity 2 notebook edition.. http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=205&product=10769 I moved my sub from the corner of my room because my room mates were complaining about the noise.. However, I am now missing a large gap it seems in between the satellite speakers and the sub woofer.. It leaves a feeling of being on an airplane kinda.. So my question is.. I can adjust the Cutoff Frequency for the sub.. currently it is sitting at 20Hz.. How high should I move it and if I were to move it would there be any harm to the system?

  9. satellite is pretty hit or miss..
  10. Does it work.. maybe.. it is basically a huge DNS cache.. And it is not an official DNS server.. So there is no redundancy.. Typically DNS is spread out through out the world or decentralized.. Where as OpenDNS is a centralized service.. so the likehood that a natural disaster takes out the service completely is greater. I dont know all of their little secrets but my guess is that the convergence on their servers is going to be a little slower than on the official DNS network. So a new site may appear sooner on your ISP's DNS servers than on OpenDNS's..
  11. alright.. we will give this a shot.. 12. It depends on the database.. I believe if they dont have information pertaining to the IP address it pulls the dns record and matches your IP address to that.. Then displays the ISP and the distance from the location that the IP is registered to.
  13. Well.. Just- provided me some additional code to resolve the IP a little bit better.. So now the locate function should be accurate for users behind cache server such as satellite or aol..
  14. If you want to start measuring.. that would be great! All I have is a ruler..
  15. How often is very often?? like every 30 minutes?
  16. Firmware upgrade?? http://www.belkin.com/support/article/?lid=en&pid=F5D8230-4&aid=5632&scid=222 Looks like the lastest version was released on 12/6/06.. Any chance that on the router a rule was added on the parental control to block msn?
  17. good..
  18. It is back up... I shut it down last night so that I could sleep..
  19. here is some more info on the actual IP address accuracy..
  20. that is a pretty cool stunt.. Maybe they will replace that can you hear me now guy!!
  21. yes.. this is the formula.. 3963.0 * arccos[sin(lat1/57.2958) * sin(lat2/57.2958) + cos(lat1/57.2958) * cos(lat2/57.2958) * cos(lon2/57.2958 -lon1/57.2958)] It is called the Great Circle distance formula.. There are some catches.. I am using a database is that built once per month.. So if your ISP moves IPs around.. well that you are going to get wacked results.. Each month the accuracy should improve..
  22. alright I refined the math yet again.. let the testing continue.. feel free to post again..
  23. alright looking at the math again..
  24. alright I updated the math.. As far as some people being way off.. these are the Jan 27 records.. so if you ISP is using an outdated IP list it might be a little bit off.. Enjoy..
  25. I will let you guys play with this.. http://itswag7.homeip.net/locate.php It should calculate your distance from your location to the tmn servers.. Post is the results look close.. Please dont post your IP address (not a good idea) Enjoy! Current Server Status: <- if image is seen server is up
