My guess is that they will refund or some how compensate the original hardware owners. Otherwise I would expect some type of class action lawsuit.

securing wireless will it slow the network down
Swimmer replied to dtsman's topic in General Discussion
I ran some test back in the day using a program called iperf. There was a slight difference in an extended test.(over 1Gb of data) In a three minute test which came out to about 300mb or so there was so little difference between WEP/WPA and nothing at all. This was all done with one client on the router at a time. So if you have multiple clients on the router, as most routers only have enough processing power for about 10-15 clients anyways, you may see a slight slow down and/or increased lag. I will post the spread sheet that I have when I get back to my apartment. -
A little something for all of the people who are worried about the security of their networks. A guide/paper written by the NSA.. I have not really looked though it but I can imagine that it is pretty interesting. http://www.nsa.gov/snac/support/I33-011R-2006.pdf

What's the most important aspect of a computer.
Swimmer replied to Marcin541's topic in Networking and Hardware
The main difference and the most likely reason for the visual difference is the processor. One is running at 100MHz to 133MHz front side bus.. Where as the P4 runs between 200MHz and 533MHz. -
If I remember correctly there is an option to scan for dead files. Try right clicking the play list... It has been a while since I have used WMP..

Logitech make the best mice on the market no questions asked... Since the MX1000 series there has been nothing out there that can match the style and performance.

Happy New Year everyone! Honolulu, Hawaii

The other thing to check would be the actual cable. A bent pin can cause this also.

You could run an X2 in the motherboard.. I am not sure how great of a server CPU it would be.. But it would be an option... Right now the cheapest that I am see a compatible x2 is for about $180.. If you think you are going to be running a server for quite a while you might want to invest in some server class hardware. It is expensive, just take a look at a few of the threads that have been posted, to get started but in the long run upgrading tends to be cheaper as long as you stay in the same generation that you hardware is.

Not going to work... Like dlewis said.. It is an FX, X2, and Athlon 64 mobo only... I I have attached the approved CPU list that I got from their support website..

Alright if I remember correctly.. Sonic Record Now is used for the Windows XP burning solution that allows you to drag files to the drive then write them to a cd. Therefore I dont think it is possible to uninstall it all of the way. I dont have an xp machine in front of me at the moment.

Are your keyboard and mouse USB? I would see if you can find a ps2 keyboard and try it with that.

I believe that forum color is either set via cookie. You want to change your cookie settings to keep the cookies until they expire. My guess is that your settings right now only keep them for the session. I will try and track down the cookie that controls this function. Alright I found the cookie.. It is called theme, go figure right.. It expires one month from when it is sent to the user. I would check the settings that you are using for cookie control.

They might swap out the hard drive for you when you get the replacement system. That is a really good question. Maybe call or go back to bestbuy and see if you could get a solid answer.

Right everything is half duplex after the traffic gets on to the modem.

well.. you have a few options.. You can jimmy rig the card with a cable like this: http://www.directron.com/6pinpcie.html You just need to make sure that you have 2 molex connectors to power this cable. The other option would be to get a new power supply. The third would be to return it. I am not sure what Bestbuy's return policy is on open computer stuff. It might be a exchange for a new one.

Yeah something like that.. Modems are half duplex meaning that communication can only go one direction at a time. However, LAN can be full duplex allowing the ACK/NAK packets to be sent at the same time.

I would say that 305 is a little weak.. I would say 400-450 depending on how many hard drives and optical drives you are planning on running.. here is what one of the reviewers ran for the test of this card: Which is pretty close to what you are running. I would upgrade it to begin with just because you are going to rely on a Dell stock power supply to feed you $280+ graphic card.

We have a list of the free programs that are recommended a lot on the site under the guides section.

That is normal.. I have seen that on my network also... I think it is because cable is a technology that allows you to either upload or download. Meaning that you can not do both at once. When I see this my room mate is using skype.

The only thing that I really hate is having to resolve dependencies. Which means that you have to have the Linux media with you to get the software packages that you need to run the software that you are trying to install. Well here is a 'cheater' way of doing it. This will work as long as you have an internet connection. From the Yast2 control panel: Click on Installation Source. At this point you will be displayed the configuration screen. Note: The additional sources have been added to my installation. Using a web browser visit this site: SuSE Mirror Released Version Select your country then scroll down and click on the link named Installation Repository Copy the url from the address bar. Now back on the Configuration screen click 'Add' | Specific URL. Paste the URL from the address bar into the text box. Once the URL is pasted into the box click Next. This will begin the download of the necessary files so that any additional files will be downloaded from the internet instead of having to have your media. NOTE: This can take up to 20 minutes depending on your connection. The final step is to disable the CD source. I am not 100% sure if this step is necessary but I have always disabled it. I will post some pictures in a little while once the Purdue/Maryland game is over.

Have you tried Wine? I have not used Cedega.. You can get it in RPM form from the Software Management console as part of Yast2 or download it from here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=6241&package_id=79444
