  1. A leased line aka dedicated line is normally used for business class connections such as T1 and Frac T1. It means that you are the only one on that line from the Local box to your computer. this is unlike Cable or DSL where you share bandwidth with other users... With a dedicated line you have a set bandwidth, 1500kbps in T1s case, that you can use however you please. There are no restriction and the ISP normally has a Uptime and Quality of Service Guarantee.
  2. Unless Vista is based on BSD.. then it is not going to be managing memory the same as OS X.. Vista does have SuperFetch... Which loads programs into memory depending on what programs you use the most. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/features/details/superfetch.mspx
  3. It is mimo.. So it is going to be fast if you have MIMO hardware in everything else.. If you dont have $$ to spend on the extra hardware dont waste your time as it isnt going to be any faster than any other 54g router.
  4. I would say false.. I am going to highly doubt that they have satellites in position to cover Africa. Plus I can only image making VoIP calls on a lagged out sat connection... I would try and find a local provider.. I am not sure of your exact location.. But I was able to find this online.. http://www.ispmap.org.za/searchisp.php it is a starting place at least.. I saw that ATT and Sprint were both in Africa.. If you are having no luck call them and ask about a dedicate line..
  5. The query is checking our database against known ISPs and their address range. I am not sure why that is coming up.. Your IP address looks alright to me.. Might be a coding error..
  6. One of my IT buddies is running Vista on his HP dv6000z.. It has the turion x2 with a gig of ram. He is running Vista Home Premium on it and on boot it takes about 470mb of ram.. But I must admit that aero looks amazing..
  7. Adaptec is pretty much the standard for controller cards.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16816103013 You need a 68pin wide connection of the NP series.. Here are they product type for Fujitsu: SCA-2 80Pin (NC Series), 68Pin Wide (NP Series), SCA-2 40Pin (FC Series) One other tid bit.. you might want to hit up ebay.. I saw this drive for under $150.

    Disk Defrag

    better example that then book..
  9. I wasnt referring to AMD having a bad processor design.. poor system design.. Like running the cooling pipe right next to the hard drive..

    Disk Defrag

Basically what disk defragment does is a cleaning of a book shelf.. You bookshelf, or hard drive, stores tons of books or files. After long periods of user interaction such as installing, uninstalling and manipulation the files are no longer in the best order. So what a defragment does it try and re-establish the best order of your bookshelf to improve system performance. By doing this there is less stress on the hard drive because the file are in a logical order.
  11. That is what is going to drive this product.. The reason that I think it is quiet right now is that unless you just bought a brand new computer or have $300 to drop on vista what is the point in upgrading... I think there will be more talk as manufactures fix the driver issues and the market becomes more saturated with vista computer.. But that is going to take some time. I am going to at least buy it in May.. Whether or not I run it is an entirely different story. I also think people are sitting back on XP for right now to see if Vista is truly an more secure.
  12. Here is what I would try... First check and see if there are any firmware updates for the motherboard... It could be possible that the motherboard's firmware is receiving faulty reading from the CPU socket temp sensor.. If there are not any firmware updates then call the manufacturer. It could be not enough thermal paste or it could be a processor issues/poor design.. When the computer shuts off.. when you power it back up does it give you any error messages?
  13. the failure to read it unbelievable haha.. well glad you tried it..
  14. Maybe I need to clarify.. I am referring to SATA running at 3 GBit/s
  15. try running this command from the command line.. start -> run type cmd press enter -> sfc.exe /scannow See if that returns anything.
  16. I am pretty sure that I know what the problem is.. Currently the verizon averages are not logging for some reason or another.. So when the server goes to query the database for the average of all the test it come back with a null result set.. When it comes time to calculate the % above since there is no average it would be: (your speed / 0 ) * 100 = % above average.. Hope that help you understand what is going on here.. I am sure that Ca3le will have this fixed shortly because you are not the only ISP affected by this problem..
  17. Why would you want to use SCSI instead of SATA? Are you hooked on the 15k drive speed? The speeds of SATA II are comparable to the Ultra-320.. I would stick with SATA if you can because the cost per gig is cheaper and the hardware to implement a hardware raid solution, if that is what you are trying to do, is going to be a hell of a lot cheaper!
  18. that is an interesting question.. My guess is that you are going to need the drivers on a cd or thumbdrive.. do both in case the USB drivers dont install before you re-image the machine..
  19. This is the best way that I can find.. http://www.jakeludington.com/ask_jake/20060818_how_to_sync_google_calendar_with_outlook_and_smartphones_automatically.html
  20. I dont think the 4600 has a RAID controller onboard.. In which case it would be an add-in board that would either be software or hardware raid.. If it is a hardware raid during the POST there should be an option to enter into a configuration wizard..
  21. you should be able to image the 200gb drive to the 320s.. all the imaging software is copy the 'live' sectors of the drive.. then dumps them to the new drive.. You might even be able to use the manufactures software to do a disk copy.. As far as imaging a single drive to an array.. I dont know if any consumer level programs can do that.. Ghost might be able to do it.. if the drivers are loaded when you reboot into PC-DOS mode..
  22. alright.. I am not sure what you are trying to do here.. Are you replacing the current 200gb drives with the 320s or are you going to try and rebuilt the current array with the addition of the 320s? If you are going to do the first option.. i would image the disks and then restore the image to the new drives.. If the second idea is kinda crazy.. you would only get 200gb out of 320gb hard drives. So you are wasting 120gb..

    Tracert'ing!

that isnt good for a first hop that is for sure.. it could be a problem for your speed.. looks like you are dropping packets at the third router.. that is what the * indicates.. Which means you are having to resend the information..
