  4. there are a few options.. I would personally go with creating a custom window installation cd.. So she would only have to put it into the cd-rom drive boot it and the system would be restored to the original condition.. http://www.forwardbusinesssolutions.com/content.php?pid=121 There is a better guide.. I just need to find it...

    Ipod Question.

Any above 5.2 has support natively.. So you can just download winamp, plug in your iPod and it should recognize it.. It isnt as easy as iTunes.. but after you get use to it.. it is really easy and you can trade music and what not with users who dont have iTunes installed.
  6. The site will be database driven so that is an option... As far as searchable within a zipcode... I am going to have to thing about how to do that one..
  7. This is you, the members, official place to give the development team ideas and general thoughts about the ISP Database project. History of the project: The project was actually a recommendation via PM a while back, about 8-10 months ago. Progress was made but the implementation was half-assed and in general didn't turn out the way that I wanted. You can view the Beta v.1 here . Goals of the project: The reason that we are deciding to undertake such a project is for the information. Back when this forum was 2,000 member old the type of questions were mainly extremely technical. As the forum has advanced/evolved the need for a location of this type of information is needed. (Plus it is cool) Second as many of you know.. unless you are on the mod team you don't really get to see the latest and greatest version of the site or even what is under development. The idea behind this project is to open it up to the entire 40,000+ members of this forum to work on and for them to see it progresses. This way the member have some control of where this site and project goes. Plus the mod team doesn't have a exact list of all of the ISP's in the world. You say that we are all involved.. But how? We plan to make the beta site available for our members to test and critique. If there are any updates that day one of the mods will post and let you know. I am still thinking of a way to recognize all of those involved. I am sure that we will figure out something so that you get some credit for your efforts. How can I help? The first phase of the project is going to be idea generation.. If you have ideas on what you want the site to look like, the information on the site, or how it is presented POST HERE! Also we want everyone to take pride in this project! Tell you buddies what is going on and tell them to check out the site. If you want to help some other way either PM, IM, or email me. I will try to get back ASAP. Beta site url: http://itswag7.homeip.net NOTE: This server is a personal server.. so it may not be up 100% of the time. 9. I am looking to compile a listing of all the ISP's speeds and Logos for a web application that would benefit this site.. I am looking for member help as this is a huge project and could really help the site overall.. So.. What I am asking for people to do is.. Create a thread/post in their ISP Area: http://www.testmy.net/b-114 http://www.testmy.net/b-120 . In this post include the company logo, current packages including price, current promotions if applicable, and any other information that you would like to see. You can view the beta v1 site at this location: http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~dhedge/testmy/testmy.php or take a look at the NEW site : http://itswag7.homeip.net/index.php'>http://itswag7.homeip.net/index.php The more member feedback we get on this project the better!! If one person, the post creator, would PM or IM me when the post is create that would be helpful so that I can get the information from the page. 11. The 1TB drive is already on the market.. Developed by our great friend at Hitachi.. with a rumored price of $399 that equates to about $.40 per gig.. Ships First quarter 07.. so right about now http://news.yahoo.com/s/pcworld/20070105/tc_pcworld/128400 http://www.hitachigst.com/portal/site/en/menuitem.8027a91c954924ae4bda9f30eac4f0a0/
  12. System idle doesnt register on the performance graph.. My guess is that you are infected with some type of spyware or trojan. Run a spyware sweep, reboot into safe mode, and do it again.

    vista help

http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/910gl/index.htm <- tech docs.. The 910GL does support a single 16x PCI-E slot.. You should be fine with upgrading to a PCI-E based card.. Do you have a specific motherboard model or even a model number from a manufacture?
  14. Here is a copy of the verizon dsl software.. I am assuming that that is what is included in the Home Setup.. The download link is at the bottom of the page.. http://netservices.verizon.net/portal/link/help/index.jsp?case=c1010
  15. What is the subnet mask of the computer in question?? Are the computers firewalled?
  16. well... wait a year... yes.. 2H of 07 is scheduled to be the first service pack of vista.. http://news.com.com/Microsoft+already+planning+Vista+service+pack/2100-1016_3-6152704.html As far as running programs... The only thing that I have been reading is that gaming really sucks on vista. However, to fully qualify this most of the reports were coming from pre-RTM versions of Vista.. Only time will tell if everything is going to operate 100% with a new OS..
  17. sub $600 dell isnt going to be pretty lacking in the video hardware dept for running any type of media center apps... HP is a good start... The other place you might want to check would be gateway.. They have a pretty decent model that is priced at $550? That is without a monitor.. but still
  18. alright.. and you cant ping the machine by IP address?
  19. No one supports it yet.. There is openWRT.. but that is fairly new and is still in beta it looks like for the X2.. Just wait I am sure that DD-WRT will eventually release something.
  20. You are going to need to powercycle the modem.. The ip release by your ISP is based on MAC addresses. So when you connect to your router the MAC address is assigned with an IP address. But when you change to a direct connect and dont powercycle the modem is still looking for that MAC address that belongs to the router.
  21. Some things to check.. On the work computer.. Are you receiving a DHCP address or has the company assigned you an address? Do you have internet on the machines or is this a "I cant access my shares on a different machine" question?
  22. try 192.168.1.1 for the linksys.. what exactly are you trying to do here? Have two access points? or have these two routers communicate with each other?
