  1. alright here is how I see it.. If you set the subnet on the xrt-104d as 255.255.0.0 for each dlink router what you are doing is creating a situation like you originally had. The 255.255.0.0 subnet allows for 1 network with IP addresses from 10.1.0.1 to 10.1.255.254. So 10.1.2.1 and 10.1.3.1 are on the same network.. What I think you are trying to do is create a setup where there are 4 distinctive networks that can connect to the xrt-104d. So I would recommend that you change the 255.255.0.0 subnet address to 255.255.255.0 on the xrt-104d for each of the dlink devices.. This would allow for 256 'subnetworks' with 254 available IP addresses. So 10.1.2.1-10.1.2.254 and 10.1.3.1-10.1.3.254 are now on separate networks thereby making them distinct to only one WAN, dlink, device. If you have any more questions let me know..
  2. not a problem..
  3. is the microphone input muted in your sound settings for you sound card?
  4. change the visibility of the picture when the option is selected..
  5. The only reason to build would be to control what is actually in the computer.. I am not sure on the XPS line if Dell is using oem motherboards or not.. But if they are you are pretty much buying into something that might not be able to be upgraded as much as a system that is custom built..
  6. are you imputing the file names or have some way of entering this information.. other wise what I would do is change the visibility properties of the image and text.. it has been so long since I have done anything with VB..
  7. Those are kinda high for T1... most of the time you buy onto a network.. savvis in this case.. A lot of the SLAs include a sub 100ms across their entire network.. Still pretty solid..

  11. let me think about this.. I will have an answer later today.. it is to early to think.. Alright try this.. DLinks 10.1.2.1 255.255.255.0 The xrt-104d 10.1.1.1 subnet :255.255.255.0 The the setup should be: dlink (1)10.1.2.1 dlink (2)10.1.3.1 dlink (3)10.1.4.1 dlink (4)10.1.5.1 with the subnet of 255.255.255.0 What I think is going on is with the subnet of 255.255.0.0 on the setup is the ip address of each dlink will contain 10.1.0.0-10.1.255.255 there by making each router the same.. I see what you are trying to do.. try the 255.255.255.0 subnet.. Let me think about this a little bit more..
  12. I will add my 2 cents on this one I guess.. As you have discovered it is a technology called Cool n Quiet.. The reason for this is to keep the case/cpu cooler and the overall computer quieter during operation by using a variable speed fan. That being said some tasks like running office, burning cds, etc dont require the full processor speed. There would be no speed increase that you would see if you were to disable Cool n Quiet. The CPU is querying system load up to 30 times a second to see if it needs to go faster to meet the demand of the system.. Those are the Cool N Quiet values for the 3500+..
  13. Must be.. or they camped Bestbuy to get cheap linksys ones..
  14. If it is insights main router then yet it is their fault.. ISP core routers are a little more advanced then the linksys sitting on your desk.. They are made to run for 24/7 for years without ever going down... Either way the router shouldnt have gone down and even if it did a backup router should have kicked in to re-route traffic.
  15. All of the numbers listed in the phone book dont exist.. Really helpful..

  18. Looks like they have the cable management in place.. but decided that it wasnt worth it.. That would be the worst I have ever seen..
  19. Basically it is just another operating system.. Everything is free.. So just about any program you can think of there is a Linux alternative that is 100% free. The other main advantage is that it tends to run a little bit better on older hardware that windows might not run all that well on. If you are really interested in getting started I would recommend trying a 'live cd'. It is basically a cd-rom that will boot the computer and use your memory as the hard drive. This way you can try out the os with having to install it on your hard drive.
  20. suse 10.1 was messed up pretty bad when it came to updating and installing stuff.. I will post some other stuff tonight to get around these little issues..
  21. Dependencies are basically libraries of code that are required to run a program. The easiest way to install programs is though the use of RPMs or binary files.. Take a look at this post.. it should give you a better idea.. http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=16619.0 As far as taking for ever or longer to load than windows.. it is, I think, due to the file system that is used. I have noticed that the transfer rates between ext3 and ntfs, the filesystem that > windows 2000 uses, are huge. Here are some things that you can try.. http://www.thejemreport.com/mambo/content/view/254 It is a little bit harder to use but that is only because you are so use to Windows. It just takes time..
  22. welcome to the forum... Your problem is that you are running a private ip range into a router that wants a publicly route able IP range. Basically coming off the dink routers is the address of 192.168.1.0/24. This would work if there was only one of these on the network. But since there isnt you are trying to hook up 4 of the same IP addresses to the xrt-104d. So what you need to do is set the ip address of each router to something different. So one router could stay 192.168.0.1 the next one could be 192.168.1.1 and so on and so on.
  23. I am not sure... the first post referenced a 'filter'.. that is what I was referencing as the converter.. yes confusing..
  24. that looks pretty decent.. I have a canon Z80 and love it.. I guess they dont make the z80/85 line any more.. but that might be another manufacture to look into.
  25. permissions are not set correctly on your htdocs folder..
