If you guys really want to know what kind of speeds you are capable of getting, do a test at 1-6 A.M.

Decade, run this test: http://server1.testmy.net/d_load.php?ni=1&tt=1&s=2992&st=st&ta=&top= What's your rate code I'll have a screenshot showing at the bottom to show you how to find it. Go here to see the code: http://192.168.0.1/fs/advanced/advanced.html Has support told you to force range? What's your signal? What kind of pings are you getting to the DW7000? (If you don't know how to do a ping, go to start->run->type "cmd" without the quotes->then type "ping 192.169.0.1" without the quotes-> and post your average ping here. Are you behind a router or a switch? Is there any spyware, adware, malware, viruses, trojans, etc. on your computer? Check this page for info on getting rid of it: http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=4257.0 (it's outdated, but if you want an updated version of spyware tools go here: http://www.basketballboards.net/forum/showthread.php?t=157363 that's a list of good programs on my personal forum on another message board.) Have you installed cablenut? or tcp optimizer? Cablenut can be found at cablenut.com, and tcp optimizer is almost the same as cablenut, cablenut is just more advanced. I included a screenshot of my settings that you can use.

Try a larger file Preferably the 2992 KB one.

The Reverand had his account cancelled because of some fight with another moderator. He then started his own site (www.equorial.com), but that site closed last week

Sygate. I'm using Sygate Pro because I found a serial number to it.

And my point is that that post was when the upgrade was still new...

From wycolo on the Direcway forum on dslreports.com: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,15034203 We'll see if anything improves.

Newbie to DirecWay having speed issues

Looks like you're one of the lucky ones on the 256 4/5, your speeds should be just fine. EDIT: I don't really know what ranging is, all I know is that the higher rate code you have the higher upload and download speeds you have (upload speed coming first because that is best advantage of being on a better rate code). They would know more on the direcway forum on dslreports.com. -

Good download speed, that's what I was seeing earlier today. Typical for late night. Sorry, I misled you, use the largest test for download test only, and use the 579 kb test for upload. That should work. -

First of all, try the largest download file, as it is more accurate. If your speed is still slow, make sure you don't have any spyware, adware, malware, viruses, trojans, etc. on your system that would be slowing you down. Try this page for help: http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=4257.0 Then, see what your rate code is by going here: http://192.168.0.1/fs/advanced/advanced.html Then, try force ranging (I have a screenshot of where you can find it uploaded below). You can try The Reverend's settings from the link below. To use them, you need TCP Optimizer from speedguide.net http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=1703.0 If you still don't see any improvement, go to the Direcway forum on Dslreports.com, they might be able to help you out more there. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/sat -
I know, when I was stuck on dialup because of snow, I suffered. Even though there are so many problems with Direcway, I'm still pretty thankful that I have that option.

I had a conversation with him this summer, he helped me a fair amount. I didn't know that he ran any porno sites, though. I wish he would have told me

Direcway is made to work with IE, so it's going to be fastest with that. I do my speed tests with IE, but do my browsing with Firefox (I've tweaked it so it loads pages faster than IE, but download speed is slower). If you want the fastest page loads, and IE comparable download speeds I would use Opera. Always remember to test with the largest file, as they are more accurate.
-
I was getting 300ms pings on my dialup account the other day. I just got 800ms with my Direcway, not bad for satelite, but definately not better than dialup.

One of Direcway's tech support guys (american) told me to put pam oil on my dish as well.... I haven't done it yet, dish still needs to be repointed.
-
My dish has a couple inches of snow on it, so I'm on Direcway's dialup service. Dway should start working tonight. For those who are getting bad speeds, what are your rate codes? To see them, go here: http://192.168.0.1/fs/advanced/advanced.html The higher the rate code, the faster your speeds will be. To get a faster rate code, in the bottom left corner there is a link that says "force range", I think, click it. Go to the direcway forum on dslreports.com to see more infor about it.
