Okay, I'm looking to get a 5.1 surround sound speaker setup in my room. I want to put one in each corner (4). How and where can I get more cable for the speakers? (or do I need more cable? My room isn't super large.) These are the ones I'm looking into getting: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836121118 Thanks.

If you're looking into sattelite, forget Direcway. Try Wildblue. I've heard that their pings are around 500-700 ms which is a hell of a lot better than with my Direcway (850 ms is considered fast for me). Post your question here and see if the Wildblue experts can give you a good answer (not spamming) http://www.dslreports.com/forum/wildblue

If you're on XP on the computer you have now, you can get the re-install cd for it and just use it for the laptop (I think that's what everyone else is saying). Personally, I would get a hold of the owner and try to get some money back for having to go through all this shit...

He says that his connection was faster than DSL... And I've never seen a 6000 get that high...
-
Well, unfortunately I can't be the ginnie pig because I don't live in an area available for dsl. Throw away my money? Do you love sattelite or something? Anyone who has it would get rid of it in a heartbeat if dsl was available in their area, And for a lower price... I would be a lot more happier if we were getting the kind of speeds that we're getting now if we only paid $20 a month. Yes, but I'm wasting it on a good cause.
-
Up to 3 Mbps/ 768Kbps $19.95 a month. http://www22.verizon.com/ForHomeDSL/channels/dsl/packages/default.asp I would rather get that than paying $59 a month for slower speeds and a cap of 169 mb per 4 hours. Anyway, are you on the 4000 modem?

Try a larger file.

He meant connection speed.

That's cool, thanks a lot. BTW, it works with the 6000 too. -
Yeah, that's probably what I'm going to do.

Okay, so I can get on the internet now... I just needed to reset my router. Since I didn't want to go through the same thing all over again, I just installed Service Pack 2 and I'm using Microsoft's firewall. The only problem now is that my computer is really fucking slow. Everything is using more system resources than normal, especially the internet connnection processes. I'm going to re-install windows Monday unless anyone can tell me what's wrong.
-
Well, I had installed Sygate Pro and that was the problem. I uninstalled it and now I don't get the blue screen anymore. Only problem is is that I can't get on the internet... It will send stuff, but wont receieve anything. I think it's a problem with my repeater, but resetting doesn't fix the problem.
-
It's not a Zone Alarms problem anymore, I got rid of the vsmon.exe problem. And yes, it does the same thing with safe mode... let me go try the new profile thing.
-
So I've hooked up a screen to my laptop and I can actually use my laptop (i broke the screen). A couple days ago when I tried to get on the internet, it wouldn't receive/send any information. The problem was a process called vsmon.exe. It didn't remove properly after I had un-installed Zone Alarms. So I got rid of that and I can get on. I restart the computer and the internet wont work again. So I open a cmd window and type ipconfig, it says that there is an invalid IP. I reset router, powercycle direcway modem, reset my repeater, and restart my pc and I still get the same problem. So I think that it's a driver problem and I re-install my network driver from Dell, next thing I know, I get the blue screen of death everytime that my computer connects to the internet. The screen will pop up and then a second later my computer restarts. It did this a number of times. I re-install the driver again, it still does it. I even try re-installing the wireless adapter's driver, yet it still does the same thing. I can access my computer as long as I'm quick and I turn off the "enable radio" for the wireless internet. Does anyone have any ideas before I re-install Windows? I don't want to call Dell because I know that your ideas are probably better than theirs. Thanks.

Well when you're a 14 year old who gets paid $5.50 an hour, needs to buy a new screen for his laptop, and is saving up for a new computer, it's a lot of money.
