I'll look at the google apps for business. However at this time it will do us no good. Since I cannot access the domain administration interface to change the DNS. These clients have been sending projects to this specific email nearly since the inception of public email / domain, and thats no exaggeration. I've used godaddy as a registrar for years, anything else they offer that I have used, aside the domain auctions has been worthless to me. I'm not here simply bashing godaddy for their entry level GUI or the over priced domain renewal ( until you wait for the right email with the % off code ) As far as ethics, I've now spoken with two separate employees that claim I have lost the possibility to ever get control over my companies property again. Which again , I believe is a pile of tripe, these people refuse top listen to what I am saying. I have the credit information tax ID, administrators email, company owners name SS# tax ID, names on accounts , times and dates as well as ftp account names dates of emails only we could know, everything, and they thus far refuse to take any action. I believe they think I am trying to scam. They must deal with this all day every day, or these people would not be simply shutting their skulls off to anything but telling me no ... no........ no....... nothing we can do , and the best one ' we see it all the time , people lose the website and domain because someone they trust changes passwords' Another load of pre canned tripe, I'll have to work to discuss this with someone that can actually handle dealing with a real issue. Or simply get an attorney involved, which I've obviously already had to contact.

Yea so get back in the game xs1 I've had routing issues for some time, from what I gather peering with my ISP, as well as several other factors. I know it's not the server, just wish the country would open up the damn cables, or run a second. From my house to well, everywhere

I've taken over an account for a client where his last employee had control over the web services. The guy left disgruntled, and in the course of his exit, he did many vicious 'things' , one of which changed all passwords on the goddaddy account , everything. From the root pass, to email access. I cannot access any company emails, a 50+ year old business, no clients can get a hold electronically. Speaking with godaddy support, he tells me we have most likely lost the entire account , website and all. Domain included. What a load of crap is this. And not true. While the old employee still has complete control over the server and email, godaddy refuses to do anything about it. Tomorrow I'll call again and see if i can get past the turd stage, and actually speak with someone that has a clue. I'm outraged though, and moveng the last of my domains away from my own account, and will find another registrar for the .us and .co domains.

The solution I've found to all things concerning our data, is to backup , just as ninja says. Always backup. I have used backuppc for some time, and it's never failed me. With the CGI interface running debian dist , you can be assured security as well as reliability. Just grab an old machine, when I say old, it can be almost as old a machine as you have, repetitively speaking. And install debian, then configure backuppc. Simple and easy, fast secure and always there. Have an issue, put any version of any file saved instantly right back on your machine , or the new machine if need be. Set it and forget it.

Useful Software to Restore your Computer.......

I commend you for thinking ahead. Although if more people did this concerning their machines, I might not be able to pay for my own lol -
Acronis used to be pretty good. I'm using pmagic , which contains a plethora of the best utilities from the community, as well as a partition and or entire disk cloner , as well as almost if not every script anyone might need to service their machine or drive(s) scsi to ide and everything in between.

nginx with sendfile on is good of course nginx is still in my eyes so very 'tweakable' it's insane. I've been experimenting with it locally and hitting it up from afar in my spare time. I found that with images or static content limiting the connection rates ie: set $limit_rate 80k; eases up the CPU beating takes during high requests. and or 'chilling' the buffer rates ie: #size client_body_buffer_size 10k; client_header_buffer_size 1k; client_max_body_size 1k; large_client_header_buffers 1k; [/code] Adding worker clients ( if the CPU is going to handle them ) helps with these settings as well. I'm no nginx guru , seems the moe I 'get' about it , the more enigmas, or settings I'm finding.

True. But with 'reload' and 20 tabs, this can still play havok on large images. When people don't up the correct image format and it's of any great size at all. Eats up memory like a somebit*&

You know it matters not, if someone wants you down your going down , less the host has a good CCIE. Not forgetting access to more then one machine , and a few peeps that have nothing better to do, or , are on a mission, the server is toast.

More people then not should consider learning about DNS servers. We all use the system, just all DNS servers were not created equally. Great post.

You won't get flamed here. Please remember which skin it was that you last installed, the one that directly after the issue showed up. I know , after checking several , likely we won't remember, but try yes ? Oust that skin here you know ! Nasty but mostly silent virus and other tracking infiltration garbage is on the rise. How can I say such a thing ? Because when I am so busy with machines in this office I have not much time for else, I get a clue. People that really don't share files or look at porn, or those who are generally awake to scams and the likes are getting their systems taken over. Botnets are on the rise, or at least one, I've not found it yet, but I have recovered three in the last week. In fact I believe this mac has an issue right now ,has to be either a botnet or worse, keylogging ect included. When you use the same machine anywhere from 8-12 plus hours a day most every day since 2007, you get the feel and become close with the flow. Not too difficult to stop something. Last week a SCSI drive, and a bios flash on another in the same office, in another office, different business, a hard drive partition scheme wiped and motherboard borked, not had time to see just what went on, and three complete takeovers of systems. One wireless router caught a nasty , I replaced one drive of the pair in the machine, formatted and imaged with XP, with the secondary drive completely disconnected, once sp3 redist ( I carry with ) came online, and I started windows update, pow, right back where I started haha, second time I've seen a router get sick and propagate to the drive . So sh^ts on the rise, pay attention or pay the price ! -

I do feel great being able to have the connection I do. I would not have the download if I did not need the upload speed, although I say a crappy 3Mbps , I could use three to five times this and get my act done quicker. Screw the download, it's a waste for what I do. Yet with the messy clutter of tripe being moved around on the net anymore , it's really a necessity just for a decent feel while playing instead of working.

I've used ccc as well , works perfectly as it should. I could not figure what was wrong while using clonezilla, wtf kept failing. So I tossed in pmagic which includes clonezilla, and a plethora of other utilities, which during a sector scan, found slow as molassis <500ms sectors. Uhg , well lets get another drive in and do it again. Seems each time i need to do something important and in a damn hurry, I end up running into a zillion literally stooopid issues that slow me up. Anyhow, onward!

Yea I should have stated this is a windows hardware update.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm having a look at all of them now. Anyone used clonezilla ? Not into paying for things if i can avoid it. Since the FSF is so huge anymore you know. I just try and give back when I can.
-
Normally I do not have to clone a drive, just reinstall the apps and done. This time the drive must be cloned. I need the entire and exact data in the same place on a different drive and a different machine. Same OS. So what software are you guy's using to clone a drive to a new drive. I've got a few things here that I've paid for in the past, but they are expired.

Which browser are you using (poll started 4/26/05)
mudmanc4 replied to netmasta's topic in General Discussion
I'm 'stuck' on firefox right now. I say stuck because it's slow and bumpy. I use it because safari and chrome are anymore closer and closer, based on webkit with individual concepts integrated, and both seem to have an agenda in mind , heading towards 'the cloud' instead of individual use. Although safari posed a fix for their 'address bar' issue, where URI or IP was detecting and forwarding it to the specified search engine. Seeing browsers come together in the same light is unsettling. The control is leaving our hands, where many people see this as progress and unity, some may see this as infiltration, presumptuous and controlling. -
Nice! Not a bad result a half world away

Single Media TV live streaming device slowing my connection down.
mudmanc4 replied to alan8187's topic in General Help
Is there a setting to grab the content you want to stream, in a lower resolution ? Wish I had more experience with netflix to get in deeper with you. Just a thought, have you tried Boxee ? I've set a few of those up, although to get the most, again you'll need a decent system running it. Just curious.
