dlewis23 Posted August 12, 2006 CID Share Posted August 12, 2006 ok we got a friend staying with us for a few weeks and she is home alone for a good portion of the day, and she uses my computer i have no problem with that but she goes to a few "websites" that i would rather not have her going to on my computer cuz they have already gotten me in trouble because someone thought i was going to them :haha: but does anyone know of a good program that i just block a whole range of sites from being accessed. mudmanc4 Posted August 12, 2006 CID Share Posted August 12, 2006 can you not set the guest account profile to use I.E. only , and then use Content advisor?

netmasta Posted August 12, 2006 CID Share Posted August 12, 2006 If it's just a couple of sites and you know the url's, then you could block the sites via the hosts file. In XP %windir%system32driversetchosts Ex: 127.0.0.1 ads1.msn.com since 127.0.0.1 points to nowhere the site wouldn't work.

That it is not YOU ! or there is a list of people that could help your friend out. Shug7272, mudmanc4, ME, etc... Oh by the way, any pics? But i have added the sites into the blocked list built into windows. PC-Cillin Internet Security. tommie gorman Posted August 13, 2006 CID Share Posted August 13, 2006 I have a similar problem when my step dad comes to visit. He wants to use mine as he is on dial up at home. But he thinks he has to reconfigure everything. I try to contend with it. He changes the resolution to the largest. He downloads programs. And by the end, I am frustrated to no end. And he gets aggravated when I go back and change it back. I do only put him in as a user. But I still have to try and get along, or they will not come and visit. One time I actually told him I must have some spyware on it. ( I changed most of it back) Just remember, you get to change it back when they are gone.
