ok we got a friend staying with us for a few weeks and she is home alone for a good portion of the day, and she uses my computer i have no problem with that but she goes to a few "websites" that i would rather not have her going to on my computer cuz they have already gotten me in trouble because someone thought i was going to them  :haha: :haha: but does anyone know of a good program that i just block a whole range of sites from being accessed.

A chick that is addicted to porn... awesome.  She can stay at my house.

:haha: :haha: :haha:

If it's just a couple of sites and you know the url's, then you could block the sites via the hosts file.  In XP %windir%system32driversetchosts

Ex:

since 127.0.0.1 points to nowhere the site wouldn't work.

from what i saw its a couple of sites but she could just as easily go to a different one that i haven't blocked. But i have added the sites into the blocked list built into windows.

PC-Cillin Internet Security. The 2006 version is available for under $15: http://www.pricewatch.com/software_anti-virus/12536-1.htm

I will try and check that out.

Or maybe just have her tell your fiance the truth. That it is not YOU !

or there is a list of people that could help your friend out. Shug7272, mudmanc4, ME, etc...  :haha:

my fiance knows its not me now, i just showed her the times when the sites were accessed and i wasent home then so it couldnt be me.

and im sure she would be just dieing for you guys to help her out in this way.  :haha: :haha: :haha:

I've never used any of these, but are some free solutions I found:

Crawler Parental Control:  http://www.popularshareware.com/Crawler-Parental-Control-download-33426.html

K9 Web Protection: http://www.k9webprotection.com/index.html

Safesquid Content Filtering Proxy: http://safesquid-content-filtering-proxy.office-efficiencies-india-private-limi.qarchive.org/

I have a similar problem when my step dad comes to visit.

He wants to use mine as he is on dial up at home. But he thinks he has to reconfigure everything. I try to contend with it. He changes the resolution to the largest. He downloads programs. And by the end, I am frustrated to no end. And he gets aggravated when I go back and change it back. :angry4:

I do only put him in as a user. But I still have to try and get along, or they will not come and visit.

One time I actually told him I must have some spyware on it. ( I changed most of it back)  :laughing7:

Just remember, you get to change  it back when they are gone.
