coknuck Posted November 29, 2008 CID Share Posted November 29, 2008 When that happens to the wife I usually take the whole thing apart and clean it. If its just the keys pop them off with a butter knife and clean. This turned out to be to much work for me because she was spilling wine a lot. So I buy Key boards 3 at a time from newegg and just throw the messed up one away.

ninjageek Posted November 29, 2008 CID Share Posted November 29, 2008 What I would try. Unplug the keyboard from the computer. Get some windex or something close. Get a old tooth brush and scrub away and try to be careful not to get to much liquid on it. Dip the toothbrush and shake of the excess and go for it. Thats what I would try. tommie gorman Posted November 29, 2008 CID Share Posted November 29, 2008 leaned my keyboard vertically against a wall and allowed it to dry for 5 days 5 days? I'd rather put it in front of a fan or over the cold air return as the furnace is running now anyway. I'd say one day most with breeze. So soak in hot water would be my next guess. In the sink. I tell you what, send the thing here, I'll disassemble it, clean the " love goo " out of it, and you can have it back.
xs1 Posted November 29, 2008 CID Share Posted November 29, 2008 Just get a can of air and spray the shit out of it. get deep between the keys and clean with a Q Tip . For the keys that are sticking badly, shake the can and turn it upside down, that will make liquid nitrogen so be careful, than repeat the same steps. dlewis23 Posted November 29, 2008 CID Share Posted November 29, 2008 Put it in the dish washer, it really is the best way to clean it. Just make sure its fully dry before you plug it back into your computer.
tdawnaz Posted November 29, 2008 Author CID Share Posted November 29, 2008 all very good ideas...thank you...since i don't have a dishwasher...i'll use my sink sprayer...and let it dry...but lemme ask you this...do i take the screws out and take the cover off first before i spray??...or maybe i'll just go with this option... I tell you what, send the thing here, I'll disassemble it, clean the " love goo " out of it, and you can have it back. cuz eww...i cant even bear the thought...what about all my paperwork... Roco Posted November 29, 2008 CID Share Posted November 29, 2008 , I have washed several ( all low end Dells ) just swished them around in warm soapy water ,then a rinse in plain water under the tap , then left them to air dry for several days , all 100% OK , but a high end keyboard ? no guaranty I guess using that method , but they take apart easy enough , I have done that and washed the keys and diaphram , and it worked OK , but all the keys fell out ,I had to check with another keyboard b4 putting them back , I jkst fope y jot hem jn yikht ordir
