CA3LE Posted February 28, 2005 CID Share Posted February 28, 2005 Sorry all for the downtime. I mistook this for a DoS attack but have found the source... you can all thank jim2006 for giving me a headache. I gave him an account a while back for his personal files and personal use. He decided to upload copyrighted movies to his home directory and share with the world. Hundreds of gigs of outbound traffic was leached from my server and the huge amount of requests for "Meet the Fockers" killed apache many times over. For some odd reason this took me a long time to track down the problem. jim's abused account, of course, has been killed. Also on another note I have ordered a new Dual Xeon server from allManaged.com - though this server is hosted in Florida I am sure you all will be happy with the tracert and ping to this server... Hopefully I can get into the new server in the next couple days before theplanet bills me. I am leaving them due to poor routing and poor support, they closed 4 of my support tickets without resolution and I ended up having to fix the problem myself... if I didn't want their help I would have gotten a servermatrix server that has no support and is in the same datacenter. Post your thoughts on the new server guys
