tbaker397 Posted September 19, 2005 CID Share Posted September 19, 2005 After reading about google building this massive fiber network on DSLR and hiring Vint Cerf I have come to this conclusion: Google is engineering a whole new protocol that will use their fiber network as means to provide internet service(which I am dubbing G-Fiber or Gable) with the possibility of nationwide Wi-Fi. dlewis23 Posted September 20, 2005 CID Share Posted September 20, 2005 its been roumored that google is buying all that fiber, so they can build there own free ISP that offers 3-4mbps of data and is ad supported. if they did that there would be no more dialup :haha:

resopalrabotnick Posted September 20, 2005 CID Share Posted September 20, 2005 1st i doubt even google would give something like that away for free, 2nd, i doubt that they are going to accumulate anything other than backbone connections for themselves, why should they bother getting into the last mile business. kurupted Posted September 21, 2005 CID Share Posted September 21, 2005 Well google are building a HUGE national WiFi service in the USA, Heres the proof. http://wifi.google.com/download.html and heres something i found in the FAQ page Why would I want to download and install Google Secure Access? Google Secure Access allows you to establish a more secure connection while using Google WiFi. By using Google Secure Access, your internet traffic will be encrypted, preventing others from viewing the information you transmit. Fear my detective skills!
