Uninstall the one by the other devices ? & reboot. If it puts it back there you probably don't have a driver for your Multimedia Audio Controller in your OS anymore.See if you can DL one from the e-machines site. If you can't find your reformatting disk.See if you can find a i386 folder with search. If its there see if it has .inf &sys files for the Multimedia Audio Controller .& put these in your inf folder & system folder. You might also check your program files to see if there is something there for your Audio card. Use e-machine support as a last resort because I think they charge but maybe not if your PC is still in warranty.

Hi Roco:I can tell you what dial-up does.If I set my modem to detect DTE speed then it will report the fast setting I put for the modem to connect at in my case 115200 bps If I set it to detect DCE then it reports my actual connect speed Which is usually 40000bps to 45333 bps or 40 to 45K. I can't remember the name but I know you posted a meter like I also use mine is MyVitalAgent that should tell you the speed .So what does it say your DL speed. At your distance there shouldn't be any loadcoils on your line.In the test I posted for dial-up on the graph each major drop except the first one represents another load coil on my line. These are data killers which slow speed but like I said there shouldn't be any on a DSL loop.In the box even though yours tests well you need to be on a loop with no load coils. If I understand it correctly this is one of the reasons DSL needs the right kind of telephones or filters. On a dial-up line the load coils are for voice quality. This is why I suggested finding a BT repairman working on the box so you could have him make sure you are on this type of pair.

tstillery ;I wish you the best.God be with you. From one American to another.I actually hope you don't have to go to Iraq or Afganistan.I don't think any troops should be there. But my disagreement with the war is against the politicians & not the troops. They are training you with live ammunition to kill the enemy aren't they.Remember that anyone in the country that you are sent to that's not an American or alli is an enemy or a potential one.I wouldn't even turn my back on some that would call themselves allis. Take that lesson from Viet Nam.What really ended that war was soldiers killing them all & letting God sort them out.But many soldeirs were killed by children in Viet Nam. Remember a soldiers job is to kill.If you do this without hesitation it may keep you alive.Don't let anyone convince you that you are an ambasador or anything simular.Let the real ambasadors, diplomats & politicians work that out.

I didn't see how this happened but I came up on a semi tractor. That had lost both drive axles. They wre sitting on one side of the highway & the truck was in one of the lanes. The police were already there so I just went on. On the butt close to the ground That's one of the things I love about my brothers TR3.You even have to make sure you don't just hang you arm out over the door on you will be draging your knuckles on the pavement.

Here are some simple things. The power cord to the monitor itself(At least my monitor has it's own power cord).Check to make sure it pluged into the monitor well.Make sure where it plugged in to the surge protector or power strip has power to that specific plug in. If it seems all tight take a mulitmeter & the the power cord. Then try it again. If you have acess to another PC test your monitor on it. On the capacitors I replaced some on my MB a while back but the problem they caused was different.

I'm kind of like Roco (again) except I do like to cook. But count the great chefs mostly men too.So I'm not alone there.Being single also I have a sewing machine.I'm not very good at it but it beats the heck out of doing it by hand. But let Roco know how many of you married guys "put their feet up with a Beer and watch TV ' While the wife does all the girly things like cleaning the house. Even being single I've got into trouble telling a woman "I guess men aren't suposed to do dishes because I can't usually find any extra large latex dish washing gloves.btw I do a lot of dishes since I cook so don't go there like I don't wash dishes because I'm a man.

Right now it's 2:10 AM CDT in Amarillo. Roco;Is the DSL you have on your telephone line or does it have a dedicated line & the phone line?If it's the first one then getting on a new pair in the SAI telephone cross connect box Also called PCP box might help.To make sure I'm using the correect term for England if it's like here that would be a steel box about 3 feet by 4 feet in your neighbor hood. Not the CO or terminal station.

I don't know if my monitor has Auto_degaussing but it has both a degauss & reset in its menu. This usually fixes any discoloration you get from moving the monitor.

bryanlautt ;This was done at the site in your link.It says I have a Cable/DSL modem but I have a 56K internal modem. This is not a suprise because this test reads it this way at its other test sites.I'm putting in a link that hsa several sites for this test. These will have a lot more information on your test. http://e2epi.internet2.edu/ndt/ndt-server-list.html I use the one in this box Other Available Servers: the Abilene ones don't work for me I think they are for faster connections but I'm not sure. tommie; If you look in the dial-up section I posted 2 topics on the NDT web 100 test. These are the best info I found on reading the results of that test. For me it is always faster than my connection actually is but is good to check for packet loss & to see how it reads you RWIN. Roco; Thanks I'm interested in seeing the results.I guess you would DL the IE6SP1 from the link I posted above.I'm using Ad-Aware SE personal build 1.06r1. dlewis23 ;I'm going to do some googling on the alexa toolbar to see what I can find.

Roco ;Tell your ISP if you get any slower your test results will look like these.Ran on my dial-up earlier today.I haven't posted a data line quality test for a while .I need to go off line to do one.I will do this & post it so you can see it. :::.. dlewis23 ;I'm not sure what the Alexa toolbar is.As far as I know I have the standard IE toolbar. I haven't done this for a long time but I even took my IE back to IE5 then did the DL of IE6SP1 new & installed it .So I think the Alexa is part of the IE6SP1 service pack.

I looked at the get paint when I was trying to fix my ms paint program.Unfortunatly it won't work with Windows ME but it looked like a good program. btw I found the fix I needed & my mspaint works much better. Before it would only save or save as .bmp now it will also do this with .jpg & .gif

Roco;Try to catch a BT repairman at the switch box & see if you can get him to put your telephone line on a new pair in the switch box. That's some dial-up advice but I don't think it would hurt your DSL any & might help. It also might help on the disconnects. Do you know if the BT hub line test is anything like the dial-up data line quality test I run from hyperterminal? You might not know & I don't know.Just thought I would ask.

Thanks Roco:I guess there not in the IE7 .They are in the IE6SP1 strait from microsoft. Does or has anyone detected the Alexa dataminers that has IE6? Maybe it only puts them in an 9X OS. If I repair IE they are always put back in.If I remove them with AD-Aware they stay gone until I repair again.I just want to make sure I'm not removing something that would make IE function better that Ad-Aware is detecting as a dataminer.
-
I should have included this is the IE6 DL from the microsoft.com site.Below is the actual DL. So the dataminers are put in by MS. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1e1550cb-5e5d-48f5-b02b-20b602228de6&DisplayLang=en Do these show up in IE7 ?
-
In my case IE6 SP1 & Internet tools. When I do a new install or repair IE.I get 7 Alexa dataminers.Ad-Aware lists these as critical .I remove them & they stay gone until I repair or install IE new again. So do the rest of you get these & do you remove them? If so why or why not? Here is a screen shot of what I'm talking about.

Yep I'm running ME & have been for a while.I guarentee if I run a virus scan & a spyware scan it will come up clean. So I would say it is reasonably safe.
-
tommie; The slow approach is what works for me anyway. I haven't been hiding I've just been busy .You know how it goes sometimes.Still I've been at testmy enough to post some & keep up with most of what's going on.

I would have tried IE7 but Windows ME doesn't meet the system requirements for it.So I will have to stick with IE6. A hint on installing any IE .Ctrl+Alt+Delete to close everythin but Explorer & systray before starting the update. Then do as few items as it will let you with a custom install. Then restart & keep doing this till IE has everthing you want installed. Especially do this with Outlook Express. I found if I let it do the standard install on its own it almost always screws up.
