  1. I thought I would post another one Rhetoric is a poor substitute for action. -- Theodore Roosevelt
  2. Heres a pic from my Commodore 64 system guide telling about the commodore 64.I used it to play games mostly & I also had a Mattel Intelevision.
  3. I can't say this is the location in XP but it is in Windows ME.When selecting the icon just Browse to this location. In my OS it has a folder with a hammer and screw driver . C:WINDOWSSYSTEMshell32.dll I found the location by going into display /effects selecting an Icon that was still original Windows type then selected change Icon .The above location was where it sent me.It has several Icons.I hope that helps
  4. I don't even remember now.It had a Walmart connectoid so you couldn't even use DUN.I had it for about 3 months.I will check to see if it's AOL but really I'm not sure. edit: I checked Walmart Connect now redirects to Netscape Connect which if you read the TOS is AOL..In looking I found what I thought they called it Compuserve when I had it.So it was probably always disguised AOL.
  5. I started with a Commodore 64.But I used it mostly for games. Then I Just let it go that way .Really I got started in 2004 but I still have the floppies & instruction manuals & did play around with DOS version 4.00 first. As well as Windows 3.11 Before I ever got on line.My first ISP was Walmart Connect because I could get a free disc at Walmart to get connected. I'm on my 3 ISP & still on dial-up.
  6. I liked some of your tommie I still do this too.I have done it right behind a kid that didn't. This doesn't mean let's listen to rock music for those that didn't watch Married with Children.Usually meant let's fight or do something about it, I think this applies double for most Oscar winning movies.
  7. water 'We have a quotes topic somewher but why not a new one. I'll start with one off the top of my head & I hope it's correct. From the late Jimi Hendrix"Remember it's peace(giving the peace sign) & not this (giving the finger) but peace (givint the peace sign again). Heres you another :Theodore Roosevelt 1907 "In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American ... There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all . We have room for but one flag, the American flag ... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language ... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
  8. netmasta ;I found it in the char map.Windows ME doesn't have the currency or advanced in its charmap. The reason I couldnt find the
  9. My sig is already max size so I would have to change it .So I'm not going to do that. But I think the addition to a members profile isn't a bad idea.maybe it's own section in profile where even a couple of computers & their connection could be put. Below is a pic of my PC do you think that would help?
  10. tommie;I'm going to put the location of the character mapin ME maybe you can use that to find it in XP. First I had to turn mine on.To do that go to your control panel/ add/remove programs/windows setup/ highlight system tools then the detail button in that area you should find the character map.In ME you check the box then OK then apply then OK. Now it should be in the location reso posted. You have to be able to use the font that the character map is using to use the symbol it gives.I hadn't used it before & only played around a little with it.There may be a way to use it more direct . Check these I still didn't find
  11. I read this on XP since I don't have XP I can't check. Some versions install an i386 folder. This is supposed to contain the OEM install if it's there.I think if it is you can copy it to a CD.It probably has a setup.exe . This may be on computers using a ghost or restore disk that came with their computer . So Voltageman try a search for that.& would some more of those with XP try the search & let me know what they find.If this is bad information then I don't want to be giving it out.
  12. tommie ;He might want to start with Rom-Dos's tweaks since they are for XP.But I would help anyway I could.Personally I think all dial-up has slowed a bit. They are running so much data through phone lines now.Even if DSL is a different frequency .My ISP & the phone company say I should get about 28K for my max at 26529 feet from the CO.I almost always do better than that.
  13. MYRIAGON ;Good searching to find that one.I never even thought of Studebaker-Packard for the car.I looked more on the lines tommie did.
  14. I thought Hatch got severly flooded in the recent rains.I haven't been there but I have bought & stuffed the Hatch chillis with cooked ground beef & cheese. Then I bake them for about an hour .& add some fresh cheese to top them off.Sort of my version of a Chili Relleno without the batter & a better pepper.
  15. I think we need this somewhere as a sticky. For now I'm going to post it in general. These are the codes that work for Windows ME. So would someone with XP see if they work for them.Or post the codes that do work for XP. If your posting & need one of these letters or symbols.Just hold down your Alt key while typing the code in the number pad.btw they won't work with the numbers at the top of the keyboard. 133
  16. I didn't mean to miss your birthday justinlay so here's a card even if it is late.
  17. Happy birthday jeffwalker
  18. I'm not a geek .I'm a redneck but a nice one most of the time.So HOWDY Y'ALL from Texas.Come on in & have a good time. About all you can't do is post a necked piture or set any one on fire(in a bad way). Nothing too illegal but a little moonshining is OK. Happy Trails for now.
  19. There were 3 kids in my family but my sister was 8 years younger than me.My mom could cook pretty well & my grandmother even better. My grandparents lived in a town only 20 miles from Amarillo so we were at their house a lot.
  20. reading resopalrabotnick's link reminded me of something not so deadly.Does anyone remember the aluminuf (foil) covered shock books Or gift. The book would have a title like sexy pictures & when you opened it you would gwt a shock kind of like a spark plug wire gives. The gift box worked basically the same if someone picked it up the got shocked. I rigged my front door to play a prank on a friend of mine.I used a fence charger like for cattle. Then to make sure I wet down the porch. When he grabbed the screen handle to come in he got it.
  21. Me & my brother are just 2 years apart so at one time there were 2 eating machines in the house. My dad liked cereal for breakfast & got tired of no milk in the morning or having to go to the convenience store before he could have breakfast. I'm glad no one thought of worms or tobacco.I guess we looked too healthy to have worms. I had some bad experiances with tobacco as a young child. The good result of that was by the time I was a little older I didn't want any kind of tobacco habit.
  22. tommie;I forget how young your kids are.I don't think dieting for weight loss should even enter into the thoughts of most 7 year old kids.Even one that are fat. Most need the fat to grow.I know there are some obese kids that need it but not the average to even some larger kid. I know that's how I was put on some weight & grow 3 or 4 inches. When I got out of high school I was 165 to 170 & now I range 185 to 195 & still eat quite a bit.Not like when I was in high school .For instance my dad told me & my brother to slow down on the milk & drink some water.Than sounds bad on the first look now the rest of the story .Because he at least wanted some for his cereal & he wasn't going to buy more than 2 gallons a day.
  23. This is from reply #2 in the topic.I would say he didn't fool me.Neither did the media. tommie : I could argue the milk & juice either way.It depends on an individuals metabolism whether this is true or not.For an active kid without a sugar metabolism problem it is fine. If you have a sugar problem then fruit juice & a lot less milk spikes the insulin from the blood sugar rise which dorps it too low. This causes a continous eating cycle in susceptable people .Therefore weight gain .Funny thing the people that don't like milk in the diet use skim milk which has more sugar & will spike insulin worse than whole milk(or what they call whole milk.) As for the junk in it unless you raise it all yourself then everyone gets the bad junk. I like peanut butter too.& not the healthy kind real guinine Peter Pan. waterRTBH: It's just Shug & me are secure in our manhood. It's over there *points* .& calling us pointy headed isn't necessary.
  24. Indestructable;Keep us informed of what you get & The MCE services you do disable. It might help someone else.
