  1. First on the ethanol. Will it's increased use cause my food costs to go up?Next since the USA gets blamed for everything are we going to hear"People are starving & you are making fuel out of food." Next on the nuclear .I think we use it wrong .Heat generation to make steam to power a steam turbine to power a generator..Then we really can't dispose of the waste.Look what happens with a real meltdown(Chernoble).Until we can figure out how to absorb radiation & turn that into electricity I'm against nuclear. Next on the hydrogen. This is a good idea for stationary generation of electricity.Mainly a way to store electricity.Generate from solar & wind turn water into hydrogen & oxygen.then burn them back togather to generat electricity.I think instead of direct ground water sewage effluent would be the best water source . Now for methane.First we have a large untapped source of methane.Human sewage.Think of the amount wasted everyday .Almost all solid human waste could produce methane. Then burn it to produce electricity. The next methane source is I understand there are vast pockets in the oceans.so why not a floating power generation station that runs on methane. Now on an unused source of hydro power .Ocean tides Dams could be built that would generate fron the tides coming in & going out. On wind energy. We are going about this wrong.Large wind generators are OK but take more space.more maintence & the parts cost & wear is higher. If millions of small(regular water type windmill size generators) ran down every fenceline in parts of the country with enough wind .Think of the power that could produce. As well as jobs for maintence people for these.Sure this would have a cost but so does the electricity we buy now.The landowners wouldn't be paid much but would get a free fence & maintence on the fence. For solar :Its barely OK they need to develope much better solar panels. I have posted this before the real key is a battery designed much better than anything available.I did find & post some on a polymer battery but development on this has been limited.Opposed by the petroleum industry I bet. Now for the car part.I would like to see better electric cars .I think the better battery is the whole key.Combined with the electricty generation methods above. I don't like the way most hybrids work.all power to the ground should be electric. The on board fuel engines should only be connected to an alternator to charge low batteries. To work correctly I think a dual battery pack is whats needed. One pack charges while the other charges. For short extra power both packs could be used at once. This would certainly require a computer box control to route the electricity in the system. That should be enough for a chapter in a book.
  2. Roco ;I bet you wouldn't want to buy fuel for it at 5 to7 MPG.But I guess if you could get area restaurants to give you their old cooking oil.You could filter it & a turbine would burn it.
  3. Daiquirii;I think you & your dad should go to BlockBuster or its equivalent & rent you some Red Green DVDs & sit down & have a good laugh. On the wiring you definitely need to get someone to work on the phoneline(DSL line too) .If other wiring is bad it probably won't effect your PC too much as long as you have a good surge protector.
  4. dlewis23 ;I can't argue with something that works.I would use 1440 if it works best.
  5. Heres a couple of links on the turbine cars : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_Turbine_Car http://www.allpar.com/mopar/turbine.html This started earlier than I thought & went on longer. I have personall rebuilt a slant 6 for someone else. These are among the heaviest built strait six engines. The crank & rods look like something out of a big block V-8.(I know not enough journals for a V- .Being a Ford man mostly I also like the 300 cid Ford strait 6.
  6. The Dart was what got me to thnking Chrysler.I had heard of the turbine car but I have been to some car musuems & I have never actually seen one.I called the Chrysler/AMC/T-Bird pretty close .Read this : "In 1962, Chrysler put together this "mock-up" of what a turbine powered car would look like. Elwood P. Engle was the new director of design and from what I have been told the actual artist who penned the disign of the Typhoon was Mr. Charles Mashigan. Mr. Engle had only been with Chrysler since November of 1961 and maybe it was his input that made them look so much like the early 60's T-Birds or did Mr. Mashigan imagine the style. I Know that Charles Mashigan was involved in both the Ghia turbinecar and the Ford Thunderbird design - I also know he went on the be the head of AMC's design department. "
  7. I don't think it's an Imperial coknuck. It looks sort of Chrysler but it also looks sort of AMC then again the rear looks kind of t-bird say around 1967.I haven't got it yet. tommie I bet that cam loped a bit.The lift was not a problem specially since todays cams use less duration.Yeah Dodges dual snorkle or even their ram air .

    Keyboard problem

philp ;Ok I'm trying to help with XP again when I don't have it. First check the driver for your keyboard & run it through update wizard to see if its's the best driver. If you have a seperate disc for youe keyboard you might try running it. If you have any settins fir your keyboard in the control panel try those. So much for the easy & obvious. Some of these files might be hidden so you will have to unhide them if they are Do you have a file someting like i386 I think this has the original Windows installation files if it's in your XP. Or a Windows install disc.If you have a ghost disc then you are out of luck on using it for any files. If you have the i386 file then extract keyboard files to your INF folder & System folder. The system files may just start with KBD But there should be a keyboard driver. Xp has some other restore features but I would try these first.

    Keyboard problem

philp ;I remember reading something on this. It's probably for a 9X os but I will look at some of my notes & see if it might apply to XP as well.
  10. I gave a link to this old topic to mrproper as an example he posted his current CableNut in it Which is OK. dlewis23;Why are you using 1440 for these settings:TcpRecvSegmentSize & TcpSendSegmentSize .I have read that XP can have it's MTU at 1480 & you have to change it so it will use 1500 or 1492. Also this DefaultReceiveWindow isn't based on AFD parameters. Your send window is. These are based on you MSS but seem small to me If you need to use 1440 as your MSS then you might increase those to 63360.Since you have the scaling off. & in doing some recent reading you might try this a zero DefaultTOSValue
  11. oistz ;Welcome to the forum .It sounds like you have been a guest for a while now.I'm suprised you haven't read more about RWIN here. You need to get CableNut.This will let you make RWIN settings easily.Probably to start with there is a analyzer that will give you the settings to use. Your RWIN is too small for your connection. Some people prefer TCP Optimizer instead of CableNut some like both. I will go into this again though the TCPIP Analyzer at speedguide is good to check the RWIN in XP.It's suggestions for the RWIN value it detects are incorrect. It detects the DefaultReceiveWindow this is based on AFD parameters not MSS value in XP. If you decide to get CableNut I or someone will look up the link for the online analyzer.Testmy also has some .ccs files for CableNut by VanBuren if you know your connection & there is the correct file for it.
  12. Use the analyzer here & let's see where the RWIN,MTU & MSS are. Also update the IE I bet it's not the latest version. In IE in tools/internet options/general/temporary Internet files/ settings go ahead a move up the amount for now & see if that's partly blocking your speed. Then move it back down if you like. https://www.speedguide.net/analyzer.php Also since you didn't post it what is the OS?
  13. Doomsday ;No doubt those are good rockers probably more than a fairly stock street engine needs. They are more subject to wear & need replacement to stay the correct choice.I was thinking more like an improved stock type . Better wear duration for a street car.But that's IMO. I noticed you like Summit so I checked their cams & the type timing chain I prefer.I'm putting in the links. If you want to take a look. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=CLO-9-3100 I always like one of these more sure not to jump than a stock chain & if you want it a 4 degree advance .I thought my cam must have had the correct advance at zero because that produced the best performance. But some applications like an advance of 4 degrees. It will also let you retard by 4 degrees but I doubt you want to do that. It's a full performance high RPM only application to retard the cam. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=SUM%2D1104&N=700+4294924497+4294887637+115&autovie=sku I kind of liked this cam but I always though something with around a 280 duration performed well. or this one a little milder. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=SUM%2D1103&N=700+400304+302116+4294908216+4294837912+115&autoview=sku The reason I brought up the H-pipe is its a free HP gain even if it's a small one. You might also consider wrapping the headers with insulation tape for this.It lowers engine compartment heat & with the carb drawing in engine compartment air this will give it cooler air.You might eventually want to consider a different air cleaner for this reason. It's best to take in air from outside the engine compartment.
  14. Doomsday ;On the exhaust I would consider adding an H-pipe or crossover pipe whichever term you like.I think you will like the result. This actually helps with a small increase in HP & better tone of the exhust usually. On the cam thats a pretty good amount of lift but as long as the valves are clearing the pistons probably OK.You didn't post the duration or amount before or after TDC this cam differs from stock. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to check into some top quality rocker arms. On the transmission either they hold up or don't.I pulled a fairly heavy boat several miles & trips to the lake with a Turbo 350 in the 77 El Camino I had at the time. It's exhaust was illegal but it passed inspection several times.I eliminated the converter. The reason they couldn't tell was I hsed the transmission support out of a older car it had the two little humps for dual exhaust instead of the big one for the convertor.I used turbo reverse flow mufflers.Slightly quiter but still a nice deep tone. I consider a Canadian made car American even though it does knock some American out of a job.
  15. silverchickensofdoom;Welcome to the forum & I have to ask about your user name.
  16. Hey Doomsday;I'm going to go mechanic on you for a minute. What do you mean by strait exhaust. This can be taken several ways? Next that thing would be your evaporator box & although that would be the left side of the picture .Thee passenger side of the car is the right side.(that's on an American car like yours). It Looks like you've got a nice start.btw:What do you consider a good cam profile?
  17. mrproper;I think it's Muy Bueno that you like to tweak & test.Don''t test my Spanish me comprende muy pacito.& even that's probably spelled wrong. Take a look at these screen shots in these topics & see the variety of settings people use in cablenut. Then search the testmy site putting in "cablenut settings" & see how many posts you get. So it's hard to know what's best all the time.I think we have made yours better. About the 2 send settings I think 393216 seems large too but it worked well. Then I gave you 65536 to try & the first time it slowed you down then when you tried it again it gave you the best speed. So look at these topics: http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=3274.msg30972#msg30972 http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=5673.0 Then just to keep you wondering if these settings are correct for your connection.Heres a link about how ATM works ATM is the A in PPPoA.It's different than most connections it the way it stores data & sends it.Then it has to have settings like an MTU of 1500 to match it with the rest of the connections. If the whole internet was PPPoA it could be very fast. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AAL5
  18. MttFrog13 ;I don't know if this will help it's some information on westell. http://www.dslreports.com/faq/6096
  19. The formula for increasing DefaultReceiveWindow & DefaultSendWindow is simple really. You add a multiple of 4096 this has to be an even number Like 2 times 4096 or 200 times 4096 .As long as it's an even multiplier. Like 128 X 4096 = 524288 If you wanted try a step at a time the next one would be 130 X 4096 = 532480 & so on. The formula for these 2 : TcpWindowSize & GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize has to be even as well but it is based on the MSS value. In your case 1460. 352 X 1460 = 513920 so the next one up in size would be 354 X 1460 = 516840. you can go smaller by the same method. I hope the examples are good enough.I will look for a better explanation of the Buffers & make sure I understand it.I think I do now but I just want to make sure. It's probably a good idea to see what VanBuren has to say about the multiplying the buffers by 100.
  20. nutmeats wasn't that a famous 1960's porn star?
  21. Better watch it on the man bra Krammer will come after you. Was that the "bro" or "manzier"
  22. The car I posted above with the steer haed was a 1948 Chrysler Town and Country "Woody" made for Leo Carrillo the actor that played Pancho on the old western series "The Cisco Kid' Roco ; Those look like veteran pilots there. Good trick on making them jump. It's amazing how objects get smaller as we get older. When I graduated High school I weighed 165 & wore a 30 inch waist pants now at 190 usually about a 36" waist. What I was suprised was how long the Singer cars had been around & the first time I ran across one was on ebay.
  23. mrproper;First thank you for testing the MS default values.I suspected they were wrong but since what I saw CableNut settings people were using were just the default values multiplied by either 10 or 100.This made me wonder if the just guessed & tried the settings that way.I haven't seen a good explaination for using 10 or 100 for the multplier. So it's possible the something else might be optimal.I would like you to try the muliplied by 10 to see if they work better for you that way.then if the don't put the ones back in that were multiplied by 100. On the DefaultSendWindow it looks like the smalle setting was incorrect.I'm a bit suprised that it affected your download speed like it did . You can either put it back to this 393216 or if you like try some of the values used as we went up to find the RWIN values. This is the MS default information on the send window .The higher setting they recommend is still very low & would not work well with a fast connection. 2. DefaultSendWindow: Default: 4096/8192/8192 - This is similar to DefaultReceiveWindow, but for the send side of connections. so MS would have you use 8192. I think you have got about the best RWIN setting will do.I haven't been able to find enough to really help set the Buffers but I think if these were correctly tweaked they would allow more speed. If you think I can be of futher help some way let me know.
  24. Daiquirii ;Well you got the UPS package so you could get started. So why complain. Next the words phone line(I prefer cable) & duct tape make me shudder & I'm a Red Green fan. So first you need to do a direct high quality cable to you NID(That phone box thingy on the outside of your house)I have dial-up & all my inside house cable is Cat 3 & all connect directly to the NID.I think a lot of DSL users go at least CAT5 cable. If all the cable in the rest of your house is like the basement cable then you are going to have problems until it is all replaced. But a direct good quality line as short as possible from the computer(or router) to the NID is what you want. With the correct filter of course. dlewis23 ;I guess UPS is more lax here they almost always leave packages on the porch regardless of value. This has happened several times even when I was home.Just a quick doorbell ring & they were gone.
  25. tommie;Heres a hint for carrying glass either do this yourself or have the place that cuts it do it.ptu masking tape around the edge.Stick at about half the tape width & fold it over.A second layer doesn't hurt. Then Like you wanted a later of cardboard reall helps protect you & the glass.Good leather gloves are good to have when handling glass also.
