  1. Me & dlewis23 both live in Texas & I paid $2.14 a gallon last I bought.tommie's gas probably was refined in Texas so strange how KC MO pays less than us.I have seen this on many occasions where out of state gas is cheaper. My pickup which I only use when I need a pickup is a 1981 Ford Lariat Supercab with a 351 cid engine .It gets around 16mpg highway.
  2. bryanlautt ;It depends on your connection type & we do have some topics at testmy you could search for more information. In general : 1500 for Cable 1492 for dsl 1500 or 576 for dial-up Ask your ISP what they use for your type connection.
  3. Ryan314;Think of how small the fan motor & its bushings & electrical windings are.An air spin is like putting several hours use all at once.If you like to watch one spin with compressed air get an old no good one & spin it till it flys apart.Or better yet go down to the hobbie shop get a model airplane propeller rig you a shaft & some bearings attach the propeller & spin the heck out of it.Or make you a whirley-gig & let the wind do it.
  4. CA3LE ;No hurry on this .I just wanted to ask if this type of attachment was wiped out. They are some testmy ones php did for me.I can use an image site like photobucket to host them. I just thought I would ask about them since they are not working. http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=14096.0;attach=12619 http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=14096.0;attach=12620 I left the img off of course.
  5. Glad TMN is up & running .Good job Damon
  6. dn0 ;I use My Vital Agent.I can't say how it would work for you .It's freeware so give it a try if you want. http://www.myvitalagent.net/
  7. I found out a power strip I use for my main TV is causing some picture interference.I tried another one & it has the same effect. If I unplug the strip & plug the TV in direct I don't get the interference(But I also don't have enough outlets for the DVD,VCR's.Satellite reciever etc.)I ran across the article in the link below & thought I would post it for opinions. The article was about the ground loop effect on an electron microscope. http://www.biotech.ufl.edu/EM/data/fields.html One reason I thought this might effect computer performance & you might not even realize it was happening. So what kind of power strip do you use for your PC or TV?
  8. I only had the popups yesterday morning. After I used my erase program on my cookies & TIF I didn't have any more problems.I didn't use the quote yesterday though. All seems normal now.Foe me anyway.
  9. read this & try fixmbr: Don't use fdisk /mbr it's not for most XP OS's.It is for a FAT32 system. http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/bootcons_fixmbr.mspx?mfr=true http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058/ http://support.microsoft.com/KB/314503 You need to use the administrator password. FIXBOOT fixboot drive name: Use this command to write the new Windows boot sector code on the system partition. In the command syntax, drive name is the drive letter where the boot sector will be written. This command fixes damage in the Windows boot sector. This command overrides the default setting, which writes to the system boot partition. The fixboot command is supported only on x86-based computers. FIXMBR fixmbr device name Use this command to repair the MBR of the boot partition. In the command syntax, device name is an optional device name that specifies the device that requires a new MBR. Use this command if a virus has damaged the MBR and Windows cannot start. Warning This command can damage your partition tables if a virus is present or if a hardware problem exists. If you use this command, you may create inaccessible partitions. We recommend that you run antivirus software before you use this command. You can obtain the device name from the output of the map command. If you do not specify a device name, the MBR of the boot device is repaired, for example: fixmbr deviceharddisk2 If the fixmbr command detects an invalid or non-standard partition table signature, fixmbr command prompts you for permission before rewriting the MBR. The fixmbr command is supported only on x86-based computers.
  10. I got it too.I went as far as to erase my TIF & Cookies. Then surfed some at other sites. Now back to testmy. It hasn't shown back up yet but I'm going to see if it will.I'm like Shug I thought I might have picked up some adware from another site.I guess the hackers are still after testmy.I will post if I get it again. I'm using IE6
  11. Happy Birthday Swimmer [move] [/move]
  12. There were 6 in my immediate area(less than a mile) one of the distances was off though It said 1000ft this one was actually the farthest the real distance would be about 3/4 mile. But overall a good site to check this.
  13. ArcticWolf;I use dial-up so I don't have the speed bottle neck.I do have an older computer but not as old as yours.Still some of this might help.I have Windows ME so there are some things it will do that XP won't (& vice versa) so I won't suggest those.First if you can partition your HD.My HD in 13.5 G & I use 3 partitions. My C: partition is 6G but on it is only 922MB to sometimes a little over 1G.It has windows & added software I use like AV,Firewall, image programs, etc. Then on the D: partition it's 3.15G I put documents with pictures & anything else that I don't want on C: right now it's 335MB,Then I have an E: partition that doesn't have anything on it right now.So maybe you could run 2 partitions .The second for your documents & pics. While still on the HD does it have DMA if it does you need to make sure you are using it.If it doesn't you need to make sure you are not using it. Now for the amount of RAM since it only 128MB I would use a RAM optimizer.I use FreeRAM XP pro & like it.There is a topic on these at testmy.I like mine set where it's mostly manual but if you like it will free RAM automatically. I don't reccomend this but some people turn off their AV & spyware programs while online then just scan more when offline. So these don't use resourses. But any other program that you don't need or seldom need online make sure it's off. If you are recieving data faster than your processor can handle it then you are probably getting packet loss & retransmits. If this is the case if you tune your OS to recieve what it can process eliminating the packet loss & retransmits it should improve DL speed.
  14. I don't care for sweet & sour chicken.I do like sweet & sour pork.& one time when on vacation I had some excellent sweet & sour shrimp. I like the Chinese staples too Chow mein, egg roll, pork fried rice & shrimp prawns..Or Mu gu guy pan,Twice fried pork or pepper steak.
  15. I agree with coknuck. He must have read my mind.White is cooler anyway/If you want some color on it just let you kids paint it up for you .Then you can just say my kids made it for me I had to wear it.
  16. I haven't done this with a onitor as I only havee 1 backup monitor that I want to keep in good condition.I have done this with old TV's that's how I know how to fix it most of the time. What usually causes it is someone gete a pair of speakers & the woofers each have a 5 to 6 pound magnet. They put these too close to their TV & by the time they figure out what the problem the screen is permanently discolored. I have fixed or almost fixed some of these with a weak magnet. You bring it close enough to see it affect the discolored spot then move it slowly strai away from the screen .Some times it takes several times. It doesn't always work. You can even move some bad spots to a corner of the screen. The hardest or impossible to fix are the kind dlewis23 suggested .Where someone takes a strong magnet & holds it on the screen for a while. I even made me a weak electro magnet for doing this.Basically an 8 inch diameter steel ring wraped with cheap speaker wire then I just use an old transformer for the dc power.
  17. starship_troopers ;I beleive it's the speaker magnets. You need to move the monitor further away.Hopefully they haven permanently discolored your screen. btw I have never tested a magnet on a monitor but the will do this to a TV.If this halps but there is still a dark area see if you monitor has a deguass & try that. If that doesn't do it wait a couple of days to see if it goes away on its own. If it doesn't get a weak magnet put it just close enough to see a slight change .Then move it slowly strait away from the screen
  18. Hi Roco;Testmy is where I learned to do a screen shot.I don't remember all who helped me but more than one member. Too bad about the knee .Oddly enough I have one knee that is a little bad from a car wreck. It was in a 1961 Chevrolet Bel Air in 1969.The accelerator pedal on this car was held to the floorboard with two steel balls. It kind of just popped on them.In the wreck it came off & as luck would have it I hit it with the center of my knee cap.Took about 8 stitches. For some years after that I would be walking along & it would suddenly pop.Causing a good deal of pain. Then it would swell to about twice its normal size it usually took about 4 or 5 days to get it back to normal.I got into yoga & some karate for a while the yoga stretches almost cured it .I haven't had it pop out for several years but if I get cold enough in the winter it stiffens a bit. The right one btw. Even a street legal BSA like mine was is fairly light for it's motor size I think around 270.My Yamaha 500 2-stroke off road bike seems heavier even without thelights, etc. So you don't have many Harleys or Goldwings in England. That kind of suprises me.I always though the shaft drive on the Honda GW was a good idea.I road the small version of the GW called a Shadow it was only 550 CC but still shaft drive.
  19. tommie the car reminds me of a newer version of the Sterling kit car. Roco;I thought you would find the print/screen & paint an easy combination to use.Just too a couple of pics to show you the how too.Don't forget the Alt key & the print screen key at the same time will let you capture just the front window.Handy for things like a shot of a error message if you need to post one. I sold the BSA around 1980 so its been a while since I've seen one too.Me & my brother had one his was a 1972.Not as good a bike though. It had the oil tank in the frame which was not a good design .Mine had the regular oil tank That wasn't part of the frame.I've never been on a BMW bike but the Honda Goldwing is a nice bike for a highway dresser.I've riden a couple of friends Harleys. The one that let me ride his Sporster just said go ahead I'll see you afterwhile .The one that let me ride his Electroglide said only with him on back. Interesting on the leanig on corners on the 2CV.I drove a Peterbuilt Semi with air ride cab these had a simular effect & some drivers turned them over .With the the cab stayed nice & level but the frame & trailer leaned like any truck. This gave some a false since of security & they would corner too fast. The trick was you had to watch what the truck frame & trailer were doing with the mirrors.Especially important with swinging beef.
  20. Roco;I bet I would like a drive in a 2CV.I have driven what we call a go-cart & I enjoyed that. If it has a motor I will usually give a vehicle at least one try.Unless it looks too dangerous. Some of the motorcycles tommie posted come close to too dangerous. Although I haven't ridden a street bike for many years I know what you mean with not having eye contact with the driver.BTW my street bike was a 1970 BSA 650.Now I only bike off-road less dangerous.Cars just don't watch for motorcycles close enough. Roco; Here's the pic I couldn't do by PM.
  21. It has a car in the screen shot so it's sort of on topic. Roco this is a screen shot of my MSPaint "save as " screen with the pulldown pulled down.
  22. water;Since you have kids in school most school libraries can get what they wany from the public library. So even without a library card one of your kids could probably get it that way if your local public library has it. I guess my problem is I do use my library. They have something called interlibrary loan.I use it mostly for movies but I have gotten a few CD's that way too & copied them .I have got movies from as far as Oregon. All free if you don't count the property tax I pay to support the library. You pay it too even if you rent because the landlord passes it on to you in higher rent.
  23. J : What OS do you have ?I had to apply some fixes to MSPaint befoer it would do .jpeg & .gif It always did .bmp ok though. Also check you "Folder Options" in control panel under "file types" & see what your .bmp "opens with" Mine uses "image preview" but I can open a .bmp with MSPaint also.
  24. I would be all for the butt kicking of the phantom caller.Unfortunatly the law doesn't see it that way.Several years ago I had the late night calls that lasted about a year.I wanted to go do some ass kicking but really I suspected an ex-girlfriend.So an ass kicking really wouldn't have been an option. They didn't have caller ID yet at the time.If I could have gotten another woman to kick her ass I wouldn't have been opposed to that.Except I really wouldn't have felt comfortable with that either because I would hate to use someone like that that was a good enough friend to kick someones ass for me.But it eventually stopped.
  25. water ;I don't have a printer right now but even if I did it would be cheaper to buy the book. It's a large book a little over 1000 pages. It has a lot of shrt stories. The copy I read came from the local library. But if you don't like to use the library which is one way to get some use out of your taxes. Amazon has it used for 3 dollars plus shipping. Or are you a desperate library criminal that the library police are after because you owe book fines?
