  1. so those pictures of models are probably copyrighted material as well.
  2. hm. are the wares traded legal?
  3. that is what we call a weird forum.
  4. probably just bus as in bus speed? but you're better off using ram with a bass of 134 bps. sounds nicer.

  6. right. if the problem isn't on your end call them and find out... otherwise get ready to pack up your kit and head to a buddies house that has a stable connection. or rent a hotel room with high speed internet or something...
  7. are you renting your modem from your isp or do they supply it? ask them if they can swap it for a newer model. might save you the money of buying one...
  8. flight attendants on flights to alaska have started handing out pamphlets to passengers cautioning about bear attacks. they advise tourists that are going to travel the wild to wear small bells on their clothing to announce their presence. this is to make sure a bear is not startled by them but has ample warning to keep itself hidden from the tourist. pepper spray is also recommended as a last resort defense against a bear attack. since grizzly bears are much more dangerous than the more docile black bear it is recommended that tourists learn to distinguish between the two. this includes learning to identify their tracks and feces. black bear feces will contain mostly seeds from berries and other fruit while grizzly bear feces will contain seeds, bits of squirrel fur and often small bells and cans of pepper spray.
  9. http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/ has a 30 day trial of bootit next generation. used it yesterday to nuke a linux off a disk. and you don't need to buy a package if you just need to repartition once and don't plan to do so in the future. in any case, BACK UP YOUR DATA IF RESIZING A PARTITION.
  10. yeah. first fix it like shown, then repartition. you have even less risk of data loss because you have linux on a 2nd drive, therefor no trouble repartitioning. yesterday i wiped that opensore stuff off a friends drive. only had one hd so i had to resize the ntfs after that to get rid of the linux partition. usually works well, but you never know...
  11. boot from xp cd to recovery console. run FIXMBR and then FIXBOOT (fixmbr restores the boot record, fixboot writes the boot sector to point to windows.) then you can use whatever tool you want to repartition the second drive. DO NOT JUST REPARTITION! THE BOOT RECORD POINTS TO THE LINUX PARTITION. YOU MUST RESTORE IT FIRST FROM THE RECOVERY CONSOLE!
  12. i moslty leave it running. restart it every few days to clear the swap file and get the os to a clean state.
  13. hm. multiple instances of the site open logging individually?
  14. where would i unmark them? or mark them as unread? i'll even see some new posts on the list on the homepage and it won;t show them to me with that option.
  15. probably by prepping a hd with it and booting from that then installing to another drive. maybe even booting from one partition then installing to another. in any case, Back up your DATA!
  16. because you covered everything else? that's why it's a forum. others catch things that get missed.
  17. yeah. but i wonder how the vista installer likes that. if it will install it out of xp like an upgrade, fine. but if it wants to boot from the dvd created with the image...
  18. would have to throw the probably bootable dvd image onto one hard drive, boot from it and then install to another?
  19. have you pwercycled the router/modem?
  20. yeah. but would also need power. and a ten dollar 4 port switch is probably cheaper...
  21. when the show unread topics since last visit list is empty clicking on the show all unread topics doesn't bring them up. why?
  22. iirc the spec for cat5 is 333 feet. or thereabouts. for a quick workaround (and if you have power available there, hack the cable in half, crimp on two rj-45's and connect the two segments with a cheap hub.or preferably a cheap switch that should work. the hub/switch will receive signals and retransmit them down the second segment. thereby you are not going over the max length. for a fixed installation i would not recommen wireless unless you are going over open ground or under a road or something so you can't hang a hub/switch onto the line. if that is the case i would get two wireless bridges and build cantennae for them or rig up a pair of yagis or even a dish setup to get decent signal quality. (note that using a directional antenna on a wireless device intended for omnidirectional output probably will put it over the fcc signal strength levels.
  23. what did you do, dump the testfile to the printer and mail it in?
  24. some of my favorite network components: http://www.fiftythree.org/etherkiller/ as for this rig, just a laptop on a dock that's connected to an MS mn-700 wireless router and a terayon modem.
