you should be golden with cat5 unless you are planing to run more than 100mbit on it or have a whole lot of radio interference in your area that might make it onto the cable. (if you did, then you prolly wouldn't be able to listen to the radio, couldn't use cordless phones and the wireless would be flaky at best as well.)

prices look ok considering you pick it up local, no hassle ordering, waiting for delivery, and if it is a dud cable you have to send it back etc. etc. etc. besides, chances are that you can measure exactly how much cable you will need and have em do one to fit so you can do a tight install without loops of cable hanging all over the place.

if you can, always go with the wired instead of the wireless. wireless is ok, but there is the problem of encryption overheads slowing you down, radio interference causing packet loss and always the question of security. wire it up and see the difference in more consistent if not faster results. (the speed loss depends in part on the encryption used.)

delete all your tmp files. if it is a virus it should be spotted somewhere else. if it is just a random occurence of a string that looks like a string in a virus (which is how the scanner detects it) then it should solve that problem. since it detects them i wouldn't be too worried about them being hidden afterwards if you don't find them after deleteing the temps. if it could hide you wouldn't have found it in the first place.

there is no illegality in the tracking of legal torrents. the problems start when the thieves, parasites and communists start freeloading and use the exact same mechanism used for legal torrents to transport their illegal files. imo anyone that runs a site like that condones the illegal content and is therefor guilty of piracy.

i would say if your isp had blocked you from epinging or so you would get a hostname could not be resolved or something like that. it wouldn't just do nothing. how long is the delay between hitting enter and the next prompt popping up? i wonder if you or your grandme caught a bug online that borked your commands? replacing the ping with a dummy? try this one. just copy it into a folder in the path and run it. but don't rename it. it is the ping command off my comp and i renamed it so if you have a bug it won't recognize it and bork it as well. so backupping www.testmy.net and backuppathping www.testmy.net
