  4. To summerize the entire situation: I am located in Phx, AZ and I have their 7/512 package and I always got good speeds. I always got exacty 7 or 7.5mb down. Never had any problems. All of a sudden my speeds, for about a month drop down from 7mb to about 0.5mb - thats a hugeeeee drop.....I call them up, they drag me around for a month and a total of 5 tech comming to my house to finally discover that the problem is with wiring or something of that kind, but on their side. My signal is good, no packet loss yet my speeds were horrible. Apperently, they put in a work order and got it 'fixed'. It was fine for about 2 weeks and I got back into my 7mb range, and now again the problem is comming back. It fluctuates between 0.5 and 3mb and sometimes its back in the 7mb range, but it is very inconsistent ! I never had this problem before Any hints on how I can resolve this with them ? Im getting frustrated that they are not willing to fix the problem completely, and I am considering on dropping them as my ISP - but afraid to do so since my only other solution is QWest which offers low speed packages that I would need more from......... ;(
  5. I've posted at SuSE forum today looking for a possible solution, no luck yet.....I even reinstalled SuSE thinking that I maybe messed something up during the install....the problem is still there... There is a possible solution of detaching my raid0 (nvraid setup) drives - it seems to have fixed someones problem by doing that.....I might try - although, I do not see what the problem with that really is
  6. Dual boot suse 10 and xp...... ....i was doing suse 10.2 just today, and well, maybe you can help......no matter what GRUB configuration I make, before saving the setup (during install) I get the error saying: error 23: error while parsing number any ideas ?
  7. I dont think any isp's really allow running of game servers to begin with - not for residential services....for business services, its a different story - you get more, but you also pay more
  8. .....seriously.....700fps......thats honestly, i thought this through many times without any regret, the dumbest thing i have heard in a longest time 8800gtx will hit, with luck, 160fps in bf2 @ 1280x1024 - and you are talking about a gts rendering 700+ fps !?.....you should seriously re-think what you say and re-think again whether you can back it up (....I dont mean anything against you, but you should really think twice or maybe even 3 times before posting something like that lol)
  9. sorry, thats how much I think its worth......i take everything in consideration...upgradeability as well....agp is getting phased out, if it was a pcix system, i would pay more for it..........nf3, agp, to me its not worth more than 350 and id feel anyone is getting ripped off by paying more than that
  10. .....350ish with that monitor
  11. using a signal that is not yours can be considered theft, you are stealing their bandwidth
  12. if you understand it, how about you tell us
  13. as long as your computer is fairly decent you'll get the full effect of broadband....

    power supply

If you have pair of 7600gt's in sli, you really don't need a lot of power....id aim for something around 500w unless you have like 15 hard drives or something as crazy as that.....I ran a pair of 7800gt's on a 520w power supply, but its one of those expensive power supplies that will indeed supply that much power (at least).... Go with a well known brand, and if you want something that will last you Id expect to pay in range off 60-100 for a 500w psu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817103941 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371001 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341001 Don't settle for a cheap power supply....without it you really dont have a good system I personally lean not towards antec, but towards FSP, OCZ and PcPower and Cooling power supplies since they have never let me down, but they are a lot more than $100

    others will too
  16. who knows, maybe those fans that suck air in are not as efficient as the fan that blows air out
  17. in my opinion raid0 shows significant difference even when using only 2 hard drives....anything that requires hd access will show an improvement - or should I say, in my experience....
  18. there are many more 64bit processors other than those listed.....the easiest way of finding your processor information would, in my opinion, be by running this program....it tells you everything you need to know (i included it as an attachment)
  19. if ur running an overclock, load optimized defaults, boot up with only 1 stick of ram and watch for any beeps you might get - let us know of the results.....only 1 stick of ram !...if it doesnt work, try and boot with the 2nd stick (if available...) - try narrow the problem down to its core....if you have a multimeter, try measure voltage straight from the power supply to determine if thats the cause....
  20. so do we get to see this at all ?
  21. Here's one for you that many people are not aware of....cuz, well...you really have no need of knowing this.... If you wanted to test out which chipset your graphics card uses (+ bios version and much more), without any programs or any utilities you do this (Win 2000/xp): - Go on Start - click Run....in Run type cmd - Command prompt opens....type debug - type d c000:0 and press enter - keep typing d and pressing the enter key until your video card chipset reveals itself....it should be when you press - for the 2nd or 3rd time It useful here's a screenshot of me doing it....my chipset is G70 - nvidia 7800gt
  22. im having very tough time with cox this year.....my speeds went from 8mb down to literally .6 mb down since mid february.........ever since then I have been calling tech support trying to get them to do something about it..........5 of them have been over and they all concluded the same thing, that there is something wrong with one of their main lines, but they still kept sending people over.... finally, few days ago, after a month of bothering them every couple of days they put in a work order for some mini stack or whatever to be replaced, which should resolve the problem
