9/11: Revealing the Truth, Reclaiming Our Future
richcornucopia replied to kedwon's topic in General Discussion
We need someone like David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) as president, even if he is an actor, he does a damn good job at it, better than Bush can act. -
You will need like 20 cpu's to catch up to Junque .

Just started folding again as I forgot to reinstall it after my fresh xp install.

Do you have the latest firmware? Maybe you should just get a new router. I highly recommend the whr-g54s. -

Sounds like this guy was talking outta his a$$. -
Config? Like my network setup? I've got the sb4200 modem and newly purchased whr-g54s router complete with dd-wrt v23 firmware (thanks to swimmer) and the computer I test on most of the time is wired directly. I don't know why the slowdown but Im hoping theres an upgrade soon. I usually can get like 7.5 down and 60 up but recently its been pretty terrible.
-
Yea, I've got the 8/512 as the premium package, but I'm waiting for an upgrade. 1 meg up would be nice .
-
I wonder when we will all get the 7/512 speeds, or is this strictly Florida?
-
Maybe eye doctors could use that technology somehow.
-
The upgrade might not be complete yet so they are still working some things out. I've been suffering through slow speeds, last week all I got was 2-3Mbps but now I'm up to 5 which still isn't that good because I'm paying for premium. You just have to be patient.

Ever heard of speederxp? It makes you think your computer is faster than it is . I haven't used it for awhile so idk if they are still updating it or not.
-
I've always used nero, habit I guess.

Well this is just a home network so security isn't too important, I figure just enabling wep will deter most. -
BUFFALO WHR-G54S 125M wireless router

I've got the router working great, wireless is good with the downstairs pc but I can't get the adapter I purchased with the router working. I thought it might've been because I was installing it in a server 2003 pc so I wiped out the hardrive and install xp. Still doesnt work, I seem to get the driver installed and everything but then everytime I get a code 10 device cannot start. Anything else I should try before I return it , it was 39.99, for that much I could've gotten two 125Mbps adapters. -

Can't wait to test out the wireless performance. How much would you recommend increasing the xmit power, or what not to go above? -
Maybe insight is working on an upgrade, hence the faster than normal speeds?

richcornucopia replied to richcornucopia's topic in Networking and Hardware
Ok I got it flashed and am in the control panel, whats the default pass so I can change things? And thanks for all the help . Edit: Figured it out and so far im loving dd-wrt, the gui and everything, all the features, its amazing. I think the buffalo whr-g54s is going to become very popular as people are no longer able to find linksys with the right version. -

Well it didn't accept the bin so... These are kinda the instructions I've come across. Do you have anything to add, hints, warnings etc? ==Special notes for flashing the Buffalo WHR-G54S== * Set your IP to something in the 192.168.11.0/24 subnet (e.g. 192.168.11.2) * Put the power into your Buffalo, and when the 4 Ethernet LEDs turn off and the LED for your Network Port turn on, immidiatly start the tftp command with the generic firmware (XP: tftp -i 192.168.11.1 PUT dd-wrt.v23_generic.bin) * When you experience Problems maybe a Switch between the Buffalo and your PC can help you. * You will need a firmware >= v23 SP1 * Firmware v23SP1Beta 27-03-06 and maybe later versions: After flashing the AP is going to start with IP 192.168.1.1 (wait a moment after flashing) Do I set my ip on the my computer (static) to 192.168.11.2, is the subnet the normal 255 thing? or 24.24.24? -

As a last ditch effort I'll try and install dd-wrt on the zyxel and hopefully not brick it. -
