  1. I wrote a quick email to the NFL regarding the TV rule.. Go Here and tell them it is ---> http://www.nfl.com/help/emailtech
  2. How the hell can they say you can only watch it on 1 TV???? So if I have 2 TV's tuned to the Superbowl, I am breaking the law??? How fucking ridiculous. I don't see how this can be legal. Last I checked, the Superbowl can be seen using a freaking antenna. It's not like it is a pay-per-view event or something. I would like to see the NFL try to sue someone for having 2 TV's tuned to the Superbowl.. Who gives the NFL the right to tell me how many TV's I can use to watch it? Oh, and what is the under 55"???? Are they trying to say that if I have a TV that is bigger than 55", I can't watch the game??? What country do we live in again??? I don't see this as being very legal...Yes, I understand the "not charging a cover", but to tell someone how many TV's you can use, and what size the TV can be is totally ludicrous.
  3. Most 32bit programs run perfect on x64. The only exceptions are antivirus, firewall, registry cleaners, and disk defrag/management programs. Most other programs run fine in the emulator.
  4. I run all my 32bit games on x64 XP, with no problems. If the games run on 32bit Vista, they should run in the 32bit emulator of the 64bit version. It will tell you, like most of my games do, that the game has only been tested on 32bit systems, but should still run.
  5. Thats odd.. According to Verizon it is 1492, but I guess they have something new then. Ours is still PPPOE. http://www2.verizon.net/help/fios_settings/learnmore.asp Edit: I will have to see if we can use DHCP now...
  6. Fios is PPPOE, you can't use higher than 1492, it will cause problems loading sites and dowloading files.
  7. Did it have a "for more information click here" when you double click the error(event properties) in event viewer? Sometimes they will have specific instructions on how to remedy the problem. Edit: Try this also: Goto run and type "gpedit.msc" then goto Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System, double click "Verbose vs normal status messages"(right pane) and enable it. It should now give you status messages when it hangs to give you a better idea of what exactly is causing it.
  8. Did you change your MTU to 1492? If you haven't, you are not going to get good speeds, and you may run into problems with some sites/ftp downloads. Edit: Check your router also...If you had techs install it, and get the router up and going, it should be set correctly, but make sure the router MTU is set to 1492 as well..I'm not sure what router they gave you, but with the one we got, it is under WAN/Home PPPOE should be checked. You will have the place where you enter your name/password, and below that should be a box for MTU. Make sure this is not set to 1500.
  9. Do you have any external devices like CD/DVD Rom, HD, controllers etc? I have an external CD Burner that will hang up my system sometimes...I just turn if off before I shut down. You can try disabling Terminal Services...You will need to reboot 2x to see if it helps.. If you haven't done so, you can also check your event viewer to see if it is logging an error. Perhaps a programs is hanging, it should log an error..Adminstrative Tools/Event Viewer/System (and Application).
  10. Try shutting down all running programs before you shutdown/restart (under task manager), and see how fast it is. If it reboots fast, then one by one, leave a program running while shutting down. If eventually it slows down when leaving a specific program running, then there is a problem with that software, or it conflicts with some other software. You can also try terminating Terminal Services, under Admin Tools/Services. I've heard of that slowing down the shutdown/reboot. Good Luck
  11. Your MTU should be 1492 not 1500...This may be giving you problems. Run the optimizer, then go here www.speedguide.net/analyzer.php?DATA_OFFSET=40&TCP_Options_string=020405ac0103030401010402 , and tell me what the 'MTU' and 'Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN)' are..
  12. http://www2.verizon.net/help/fios_settings/ Use the optimizer tool, and set it for 15/2. There are no tweaks that are going to give you faster speeds that what you pay for. If you get 90% of your advertised speeds on the tests you are doing very well.
  13. http://www2.verizon.net/help/fios_settings/optimizer/Default.asp? Go there, it is verizon's optimizer tool for Fios...You have to install active x control. It is safe, and I use it each time I install windows, and I get my full speeds..Just choose your plan from the list, and it will adjust the settings for you. Just remember you need to reboot after making the changes for it to take effect..
  14. Soon to be 33, feel like 50, but people have said I still look 18
  15. I'm not too familiar with 2000...I skipped from 98 to XP...Didn't make the stop at 2000... When in doubt, format c:
  16. I'm kinda grasping at straws, but you never know, one of the straws may hold the answer
  17. It says that the files are included in the O/S... Can you find that file on a disk? Then copy it to a temp folder, and edit it as instructed, then place it in the WINNT folder..
  18. Did you search for just 'Wdmaudio.inf' ? Do you have this folder... WINNT ?
  19. If you have OOL, and you slow down at night, it is probably just the node being a bit overcrowded. Try testing your speeds at different times of the day. You can use the Automatic Test here ---> http://www.testmy.net/tools/test/scheduled_test.php to set up tests automatically. Remember, cable is a shared network. If too many OOL customers get online on your node, you will slow down, and there is not much you can do. Just keep notes on your speeds, and what time you get those speeds.. I went through hell and back with OOL trying to fix my speeds....I found the fix...FIOS!
  20. What about running a search on your pc for Wdmaudio.inf(search system folders/hidden files and folders)? Once you find it, you can right click on it, and open the containing folder, move the file to a temp folder, and then open that file with notepad, and edit it. It says this applies to Windows 2000...I assume that is what you are running?

  22. I spit my coffee all over my desk when I read that
  23. Did you try putting 2 sticks in slots 3 and 4, and swapping chips to make sure it is not a defective stick? I know with my board, you can use 1, 2, or 4 sticks of ram, and if you use only 2, they have to go in Dimm B 1 and 2(which would be slot 3 and 4, not 1 and 2). Sounds like a bad slot, but try using just 2 sticks, and swap the sticks out, until you eliminate those as suspects. Good luck
  24. I'm not sure what the exact specs are, but if the turns are too tight(loop is too tight), the light has problems making the turns. I guess it is sort of like when you kink a garden hose.. I've had Fios over year, and I personally haven't had 1 problem yet(router crashed once)...Perhaps water got in the lines somewhere along the way...But, most verizon lines have dehydrated air running through them(not sure about the fiber though) in order to keep the water out...(I used to fix the chillers for their air dryers) Best thing you can do, is take speed tests/ping tests/etc, and save all the info(screenshots, etc). If problem persists, call back verizon, and tell them you have collected info about the situation, and see if they will look into it further. Also, ask the tech if there is a firmware update for the router. There were some problems with the d-link routers keeping up. But, I think they have been using a different router now on installs...
  25. If you neighbors works fine, I would say it is most likely a problem at your house, possibly with the fiber line coming into the house. Were you in an area where they had the bad ice? I know that with the fiber loop coming into the house, it has to be looped properly(can't have too tight of a loop), or you will get problems similar to what you are describing.. I know you may not like the techs, but you probably are best off having them just come to the house, and check it out there.
