  1. Disregard that one, it most likely won't work...The one below it will.
  2. Component is video only...No sound. Image quality is better with component than with s-video. I had an adapter a while back for a really old video card so I could watch it on my TV...The difference between s-video and component was pretty noticable. I think the TV is actually going to be the limiting factor. Edit: Does the graphics have a DVI port? Or does it just have VGA? This converter has s-video and component out. http://www.ramelectronics.net/audiovideo/htpc-media-pc-mac/pc-mac-tv-connectivity/grandual testec-pc-to-tv-converter-gtm-2000/prodGTM2000.html For some reason it won't allow me to insert that link..it comes out all screwy..Copy and paste the whole link I guess. I think it is because the words "dual and test" are in the link...Only thing I can think of..
  3. If your tv has "component video" input, the quality will be better using that... http://www.amazon.com/Dvi-I-To-Component-Video-Adapter/dp/B000BSHHY8
  4. Do you still have cool n quiet enabled? If it is still enabled, disable it in bios, and see if the fan stops then. It sounds like when the cpu cools down, and the fan speed is slowed, it stops.
  5. Is it possible you had the cool n quiet feature enabled? If you aren't using the stock heatsink that comes with the processor, I believe that can cause problems. As per AMD: If the fan is not thermally controlled, and you had the feature enabled, that could explain why the fan stopped.
  6. Do you have a PC store near you that can test your PSU....Normally they will test it for free(at least here they do). Sounds like either the PSU or memory.. Did you try to bump the memory voltage up slightly to see if the errors go away? My antec 550 HE was only a few months old when it went screwy on me..Would randomly reboot, crash, freeze, not start, etc...New PSU solved every problem, and allowed me to overclock much higher.. What kind of hard drive are you using? Sata or ATA? My old rig had a bad ATA ribbon. The ribbon looked fine, but must have had a broken wire in it..Sometimes it worked..Sometimes it didn't. It rebooted when it felt like it. Drove me nuts for a long time.. Good luck...I would have probably had the hammer out already.
  7. Do you mean you updated your Video card drivers? Or is there an 8600 GT soundcard? If you do mean your Video card, try downloading "Nasty File Remover"(attached) and install it. -Go into Add/Remove Programs and Uninstall the Nvidia Display Drivers. Do not Reboot. -Run Nasty File Remover, and select Nvidia. -Check found files and remove them(back up to zip file first..there is an option to do so). NOTE: Uncheck the OpenAl files(or similar..can't remember exact file names). If you do happen to check those files, and remove them, you may have to reinstall your sound drivers. -Reboot into safe mode, and run the updated driver package.
  8. You didn't mention your power supply...Perhaps you have a faulty PSU. My stepfather bought a barebone system, and the psu was bad out of the box. It made a sound similar to what you describe. It was not really a beep, but similar. The sound came directly from the motherboard, and like yours, would sometimes persist past boot up. They sent a replacement psu and the sound went away. Try another psu, and see if it does the same thing if you can.
  9. Have you tried running checkdisk? Try going into safe mode with command prompt, and and run chkdsk /r ....It may take a while to run, but will repair errors, locate bad sectors, and recover readable information. A corrupted disk could cause your symptoms. Try running memtest86, or prime 95 to see if you have a bad memory stick. Or, if you have more than 1 memory stick, take one out, and test with a single stick, then swap them and see if the problem changes, or go away. Your symptons also could be a sign of a weak power supply...Mine had similar symptoms, but it would freeze randomly and not just at the login screen. And if I remember correctly, it would run fine in safe mode...Eventually the pc would not start. It only would flash on for a split second when the power button was pressed. A new psu cured that problem.
  10. http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_hvr950.html USB tv tuner. I used to service their HVAC..They make some top notch stuff... The tuner comes in pci/pci-e as well..
  11. I don't see cablenut tweaks causing the pc to crash, but possibly the CC Cleaner removed a registry key/keys that you needed... Did you backup the registry before cleaning it using CC Cleaner? (it asks you if you want to create a backup) If you have, restore the backup from CC Cleaner, and reboot. See if that fixes it. It may have accidentally removed a key it shouldn't have. I have never had any problems with it, but you never know.
  12. They say the most intelligent people are also some of the craziest..
  13. So I am assuming the test hangs for you as well? I went back to x86 for a while, but I had MORE problems than I do with x64... Now that there are better drivers, and more software that supports it, its not so bad... Just wish I could get the speed test to run..It's more of a matter of wanting to know WHY it doesn't work, and if I can fix it on my end.. Going to try a few more things, and see what happens...
  14. I've tried every browser... 1st thing I do everytime is clear everything.
  15. Not sure why, but for some reason I cannot complete the download test with x64 XP.... It seems to hang up around 45% on the 5983kb test, and doesn't complete. I've tested my speed a million places, and it shows me as full speed. Plus, if I download a file, I get full speed. For some reason I can't complete the test here... Is it just a problem with x64 and the test? I tried both nic cards, and I get the same result, so I don't think it's my nic drivers..I also tried the other pc with x86 XP, and it works fine... I turned every background process off, along with a/v firewall, and it does the same thing... Can someone else with x64 let me know if they can complete the test.
  16. It is also possible you have some previously installed spyware, that is not allowing the software to be installed... I ran into it a while back with a friends pc...I think we wound up installing and running the spybot/adaware in safe mode, and it found a TON of crap, but I could be forgetting a step.
  17. Mine never tests right either, but when I upload stuff via FTP, I get full speed..
  18. I bought a 27" widescreen LCD HD TV, and I just use it as a monitor/TV...I use the DVI port, but I know some work using a DVI to HDMI cord. I forget exactly how much I paid, but it was like $500(was on sale), but that included a 3 year in house warranty..If it ever breaks in 3 years, they will come to my house and either fix it, or bring a new one.
  19. Thats a really sweet satellite loop..You can see all the fires easily...Either that, or volcano's have suddenly formed all over the place
  20. I think you have acquired a banned IP..... Are you using a proxy?..If I remember correctly, someone else had the same problem recently.
  21. The way it is written, makes it sound as if he was trying to leave the scene... I guess if that was the case, karma is a bitch... If you hit a bus load of kids, perhaps you should stop?

  23. We were paying $54 for the 30/5 for almost 2 years , as an intro offer... But, unfortunately, we had to drop the 30/5 to get the "triple play" offer with the Fios tv, phone, and internet, which includes 20/5. I'll take the -10 to ditch Cablevision for good.. I actually get the full 20/5. Finally got that cable drop removed the other day. We no longer are attached to Cablevision in any way. We have had the Fios 2 years now, and still have yet to have an outage/slow down.
  24. Well, after having 30/5 for almost 2 years @ $54/month, we had to drop to 20/5. We finally got the Fios TV, along with the phone, and they don't make a package including 30/5 , only the 20/5...$50 cheaper with the 20/5... Still rather have the Fios than OOL... :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 20370 Kbps about 20.37 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB) Download Speed is:: 2487 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 4494 Kbps about 4.5 Mbps (tested with 5983 kB) Upload Speed is:: 549 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Main) Test Time:: 2007/09/30 - 11:07am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-N4ILOKXPV U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-0T2IDUOHX User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) [!]
