  1. Check namebench out, it may help... written by Google. http://code.google.com/p/namebench/ MacKeeper is another option, which actually can do quite a bit to speed up your Mac. https://testmy.net/mackeeper (direct download link)
  2. Good to hear -- I hope your connection gets sorted. I haven't had any reports of it not working. It may be an issue with the browser. I just checked it in IE and it was working perfectly. I'd really like to know why it wouldn't load... but if I can't duplicate the problem it's very hard for me to solve. Realize that TestMy.net is as much of a browser test as it is an internet speed test. Different browsers perform differently and can vary from version to version. Most speed tests are passively ran in the browser, TestMy.net really puts it to the test... if the browser don't hold up, neither will the test results. The results from TestMy.net can definitely point to misconfigurations in your OS as well as browser settings. My recommendation is to stick with the browser that not only performs best with my tests... but also feels faster. In my experience, IE in some cases runs faster... but actual browsing doesn't feel as snappy as Chrome or Firefox. It's all personal preference. ... the graphs here are based on very popular javascript libraries. (not saying there isn't bugs... there is ALWAYS bugs in programming even if Jesus is at the keys) It's highly compatible. If it's not loading, it may be something messed up with the browser.... and it may be causing other things to not load properly. Stick with a webkit browser like Chrome, Firefox or Safari -- your online experience will be best with those. Now, in the future... who knows... it changes all the time. ... as for IE, it seems to be sensitive and I often hear complaints about it being broken in some way or another.
  3. Still got this on my to-do list
  4. Showing up fine on my end... Can you view the source and paste it using the code button --- I just need the first 20-30 lines and that will tell me what I need to know. Thanks for the support.
  5. Glad to hear that you like the site... keep visiting and please help spread the word. -D
  6. I'll look into this shortly and update this thread when I've taken care of the problem. Thanks for letting me know.
  7. I'm planning on GPS functions in the future but it may be a while. One thing you could do it use an app that allows you to record GPS cords... have them open that, log their coordinates and time... take a test and compare the GPS list with the test times. I am working on all this stuff... it just sucks that I only have ten fingers to do it all. Still trying to learn how to program with my toes. --- man, if you guys could see what my actual vision is for this website. Some of my ideas aren't even technically possible yet... but when they are I'll try my hardest to translate what I have in head into reality for you all. ... just keep checking back on my progress, it will never be finished. -D
  8. Hi Gideon, You can do that all through TestMy.net... two ways, either create multiple usernames to suit your needs then login each device... or make one account then give each computer a different identifier (recommended) and start testing. Your results are saved to a database and you can compare from there. Currently you can't rename the 'rooms' -- but as long as you keep track of which iPad goes with which ID it should suit your needs just fine. In the future I plan on giving you the ability to rename those tags.
  9. That's a good question. I haven't gone right up to it yet so I don't know for sure. But I really doubt it. First, needles wouldn't really make it more camouflage... you'd never really see that much detail unless you were right up on it (goes for a real saguaro too). So I think adding needles to it would be a waste of resources, I'm sure the designers felt the same way. It also could be an added hazard to anyone that needed to work on it (if they were sharp). I'll have to actually go up to it next time so I can get some closeups... see what it's made of. I'm pretty sure it's constructed out of steel and has no needles... but I'm really not 100% sure... next time I drive by I'll update this thread.
  10. I don't think it will bother them... if it does they'll just stay away from it... as they would with any radio tower.
  11. He hasn't taken any tests under his username yet... if you click 'Test Results by IP" you can see the tests taken before he signed up. (only mods and admins can do this) When you click that link it converts the IP to the connection ID and forwards you to the correct results. If you share the link back to the forum make sure that you share the URL in the browser address bar NOT the link you click because that contains the users IP address. In this case, the address is https://testmy.net/compID/1604379535977
  12. Just want to wish all the Dads out there a Happy Fathers Day!
  13. I've noticed a few different types of camouflage cell towers out there but I think this one takes the cake. As some of you know, I live in Phoenix Arizona... in the Sonoran Desert. Now, I've see palm tree and pine tree cell towers but a 50'+ saguaro cactus is a first... or maybe I've seen a hundred of them and just didn't notice. I just know it's pretty cool. They're building this around the corner from me and the scaffolding is still up and they have it open, although they did have it closed the first time I saw it and I thought they were doing something to a real cactus. But then I thought, wait a minute... it looks a little too perfect. A saguaro that large should have a bunch of holes in it from birds and critters. I realized it was fake then a few days later they opened it up so now you can really tell what it is. I'll update this thread once they take down the scaffolding and close it back up. This is much more stealthy than the pine trees and palm trees I've seen but obviously this is the only place where they work. Fun fact, the Sonoran Desert is the only place in the world where you'll see the saguaro cactus. I think it's funny when you watch old westerns and they obviously have Monument Valley as a backdrop... but then you see saguaro cacti everywhere. ...uuuuhh, 1950's hollywood, you need to check your facts.
  14. I kinda hope it's a little bit of a wait.. I'm still perfectly happy with what I have. I can't imagine an extra 10 million pixels... ridiculous.
  15. By the way... my 27" iMac can only do 2560x1440 - amazing to think of all my pixels plus 1.5 million pixels crammed into 15.4"... just crazy. (I did the math, 41% more pixels than a 27" iMac, seriously) -- I'll be getting a new iMac when they get a 27" or larger Retina iMac, now that will be INSANE resolution.
  16. That's even sexier on the inside. Must suck to be a person that just got the old macbook pro minus Retina. Because that's a HUGE visual upgrade. I'd be in line right now trying to do an exchange if I was that guy... The difference between those displays is like going from a 12" monochrome CRT to a 21+" LCD, night and day. .... finally, pixels are becoming a thing of the past.
  17. I like the latest Chrome and Firefox. They really get the job done.
  18. K, all done. Took me longer than expected. Sorry about the downtime.
  19. This is being extended, waiting on a process to complete before I can execute.
  20. At around 1am TestMy.net will undergo some scheduled maintenance. I need to move all of the database information to a larger partition. To do this properly I need to lock all of the databases during the transfer. I could do them individually and avoid the downtime. ...but sometimes it's like a bandaid on your hairy leg... do it fast and it will only hurt for a second... or pull it off slow and try to go strand by strand... still hurts and for longer. I say, just rip it off! Hopefully no more than 15 minutes of downtime but it could be an hour. Between 1am and 2am (GMT -7) (4am to 5am EST)
  21. You're still getting results... but they aren't being logged? Send me a screenshot of the results page... does it log correctly when you do single tests or non-auto tests?
  22. Happy Memorial Day! ... I was sleeping most of the day... yaaaaawn!
  23. Testing your Internet speed is a test of your ISP.
