I just installed Suse Linux 10.1, and Its kinda cool, but there are some things I dont get, for one, how to install programs, wtf are dependencies and why does it takes sooooooooooooooooooooooo long to boot up O.o It is cool, but I find it a bit hard to use. Any help, or links to help would be more than welcomed. Thanks in advance! btw, I noticed that using internet on linux is much faster than on Windows, I did a normal download test and actualy got my 7.7MB, rather than the usual 5MB~ :::.. Well, cachefly doesnt download fast enough for me, so I went to microsoft. this is on cox's 7MB plan: it got a tad slow in the end, but my avg. dl is arround 945KB/s

yeah, its probably T3 cause it was arround 20MB, the network administration is really crappy and inresponsable, they blame me because I 'Exposed the network to remote attacks' but in reality they had not banned any web site, bt protocoll, p2p protocol, hell even messenger was openly available, its not my fault they at least try to block those sites. Whats even worse my own teacher saw what I was doing and didnt tell me to stop (cause I started class late, didnt know the rules... for all I care.). But oh well, now im on a gym class XD. :haha:

just downloading a couple of songs and some bleach episodes via BT, so I guess thats it. But I kinda like it being banned, I hated that Web Page design class, it was like taking what I know all over again >_>

You might wanna check out the bios configuration too, ive come across some motherboards that lets you choose how much of the hard drive you want to use (in MBs).

AVG, its fast and light on resources, updates frequently, easy to use, among other things. avast is good, but AVG has worked better for me, give em both a try and see what suits ya better.

i disagree resopalrabotnick, I live in San Juan, and only a handfull of streets dont have holes in it, I mean craters. Now, some highways are good an clean, but the problems lies on the town's streets. Now, that 7% Sales Tax is asking for too much, most ppl here make $6-8~/hr and they have to pay for food, house rent, electricity, watter and telephone, this can easly sum up to more than a 1000$ (not to mention that almost every PRican is full of debts), Anibal is just making more stuff up to rip us off of more money. btw, I dont know how this has any relation to the topic, but my bro was Anibal8 (dunno if any PRican guys remember him) XDD

Give a call to your ISP, there is nothing (that Im aware of) that you can do from your modem about it, they probably messed up while upgrading you. Happend once to me.
