  1. What type of application is this?? I am wondering if it has something to do with the tablet version of XP.. with all of the additional overhead associated with the tablet stuff.. Let me look into it.. I know that most of the IT guys I know run external wifi cards instead of internal ones on their tablets for some reason..
  2. yeah.. i am also getting slow load speeds..
  3. take a look here.. http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics.html
  4. I would power cycle the router then, unplug the router for 10-20 seconds then plug it back in.. This will clear all the ip leases.. Reboot the computers and try again.
  5. interesting... Here is a little article about the install of RC2.. http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9003978
  6. hmm.. never seen that.. Does your computer see the network adaptors? I could be possible that TCPOptimizer doesnt support yours but I doubt it..

    STREAMING

This is why there is youtube.. they spend over 1 million per month on bandwidth.. I would find it on there and then link it to that.. or embed the video into your site.. Trying to host videos is just not a great idea.. I think that you can upload on to youtube then you will have all of your stuff on their servers..
  8. Are you checking the IP address each time that you try and play? The will change every 12-24 hours depending on the router..
  9. Any router can be a gaming router.. It all depends on how you have it set up... That dlink router is setup to give games priority over all other network traffic.. This can be done with any router that support QoS.. As far as opening port it might do that automatically but I would see that as a security risk more than a benfit. It also might have a more powerful processor onboard to allow it to process packets and route them quicker than a normal router. With that being said... there are quite a few people with that router on these forums and I think ever single one swears by it..
  10. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20061008-7930.html read that.. $5000 per user for the average company..
  11. damn... i guess this post was lost.. Here is the basic run down.. You should be able to host on a network with any problems.. Just make sure that you have your firewall setup, if you have one on the computer, to allow the traffic though. Also I have seen where the in-game multiplayer will not show the other computer hosting.. the only way to connect is a direct connect with ip..
  12. The title says it all... There is will be the FINAL public release before the code is sent to manufacturing.. http://download.windowsvista.com/preview/rc2/en/download.htm#
  13. you can use canned air.. just dont let the blades spin... I could also be that the fan is getting ready to go..
  14. give that a try.. i dont use outlook.. https://www.uvm.edu/~bnelson/computer/outlook/turnoffauto-complete.html
  15. Windows vista is an entire different beast.. It has an brand new network stack.. so until we see something solid from MS and have a retail copy, not betas or Release canidates, it is going to be hard to really know what is going on with Vista. Are you seeing the pause in FF? if that is the case you might want to look at some of the hacks that you can do for FF and see if setting some of the properties in about:config would help..
  16. Any unshielded electrical device should not be put near a monitor of any sort.. the electric field that these devices create disturb the display and can cause display problem like you are describing.
  17. That is interesting... I have seen sp2 slow down computer that have been patched to hell then upgraded instead of doing a clean install and just applying sp2 right away.. What type of printer/scanner does he have? I know some hardware will only function correctly on SP2 machines, like most of creative's sound cards.
  18. My guess is that they are looking at what you are doing on the laptop.. With the ever popular theme of laptops being stolen with sensitive information on them... It would be sad if your company wasnt monitoring that laptop in some way.
  19. lets see.. i swim therefore i am a swimmer.. there is the explanation..
  20. I would check the computer manufacture's website for generic drivers: sound, chipset, NIC.. However, for more advanced devices such as video or wifi.. I would look on the actual manufacture's website.. So if you have a Centrino laptop.. Download the wifi drivers from intel as they are going to be newer there then lets say dell's website.
  21. It is technically a lan port.. but it would be marked WAN on the router.. it is normally set apart from the rest or is on the left side.
  22. I have not seen anything on ff... I am also not seeing anything of IE.. I will try it again on my home machine when i get there
  23. Do you have a wireless router or a wireless access point set up?? what you are discribing is that only one computer can be on the network at a time. This would lead me to think that it is an access point and not a router.
  24. Did you have everything working in RC1 or in the beta versions? The only think that I can think of would be that the drivers that ATI has out, or atleast I have found, are for beta 2 not RC1... So if something changed in aero or in the graphics interface that could be causing the problems..
  25. hey thanks guys... last night was crazy.. so all in all it is a good time.
