  2. Welcome to the forum... you are going to have to tweak the TCP setting for the wireless adapter.. they are set pretty conservatively.
  3. you are picking up some type of interference.. I dont know if a new antenna would help out at all.. if it is true interference boosting the crap out of your signal is not going to help... you need to remove what ever is causing the problem.. I would either move it closer.. or put a longer ethernet cord on it and get it away from the electronic devices
  4. not possible.. it is required for ie.. you can clear the dat file.. I remember post this earlier.. under the title "I know where you have been" or something like that..
  5. They did when it first came out.. that was when microsoft was really pushing it for business. I dont know.. There hasnt been that much improvement in SP2 for the power user. I would much rather be allowed to patch my system as I see fit instead of having to download a sp to beable to run programs.. Creative requires it for almost all of their products.. and most of the new drivers for ATI require SP2.. But it is what it is..
  6. this is what the rap expert on our team thinks it is. do or die ft. twista and johnny P still po pimpin'
  7. not a problem..
  8. yes.. it can be done with wireless.. the reason that it is not stated pretty much is because it is really easy to spoof a wireless MAC address. So you are going to also want to add encryption on top of that MAC filter.. It is going to be the same as adding a wired client.. Most of the time the router will put all of the MAC addresses into the DHCP list.. so you can go there and find it. If it is not there you can run an ipconfig /all and get the address there also. Just enter it and you should be set.
  9. welcome to the forum... I have a few questions for ya... When the service drops... it is the LAN or is it the actual service? Like are you still connected to the router or do you also loose connection to that. Do you happen to know if Verizon is using any authentication on the wifi.. I am sure that they are but do you know if it is PPPoE? Like if you were to connect to the modem directly do you have to give a username and password? If is because of PPPoE... then you can read this and set everything up... I know that Verizon still uses it on their DSL and I think FIOS systems.. http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2210&p_created=1110937569&p_sid=5XfulYfi&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MiZwX3Byb2RzPTAmcF9jYXRzPSZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PSZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlPWFuc3dlcnMuc2VhcmNoX25sJnBfc2NmX2xhbmc9MSZwX3BhZ2U9MSZwX3NlYXJjaF90ZXh0PXZlcml6b24*&p_li=&p_topview=1
  10. what are the computer specs and wifi specs... The next program that I would try it TCPoptimizer.. I have found pretty good sucess accross the centrino platform for boosting speeds..
  11. that would work.. i perfer the hitachi laptop drives.. for some reason they seem to last a little bit longer.. the other thing that you might want to do is download a copy of this: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ and run the drive diagonistics..
  12. That might be part of the graphics anamation.. http://www.winguides.com/tweak/tweaklist.php take a look there.. i am sure that it is in there some where..
  13. Welcome the the forum! php hit it on the head... for the most part the modems til this point have operated at 10Mbps.. not 10/100.. So that is what you are seeing.. also like php said.. if your speeds are ok.. then you should be alright. I know my 5100 operates at 10Mbps..
  14. I dont know if this is going to work.. There are too many veriable in my opinion.. You are going to have to know what type of NIC is in the computer, not too hard, the most up todate drivers, then on top of all of that you are going to have to clean up computer like no other.. Some things you cant fix with just simple program.. or it will take you for ever to do it.. I did a aim virus removal, spy scan, and installed a different anti-virus/firewall app in about 2.5 hours last night. If some one give you a 550mhz computer it is going to take longer for that system to complete the spyware scan... which means that you are just sitting there.. Do you have any certifications or schooling when it comes to computers? That would help your rep and justify the price.. I also thought about this a few summers ago.. but the overhead of planning your day.. then finishing everything on time just becomes a pain. At the end of the day I decided to just do it for friend..
  15. try power cycling your modem..
  16. i am still debating.. this service is crap.. They are the only ones that I know of whos core router goes down..

    replacing fan

You could use a standard 80mm fan to replace a PSU fan.. however, I would highly not recommend opening a PSU. There are capactiors that hold voltage even when it is turned off.. If you have to replace the fan on a PSU either buy a new one or jimmy rig one on with some super glue.. There is no real reason to ever open a PSU.
  22. can you assign the remote keys? you could use global hotkeys on winamp to control it..
  23. Like everyone said there should be a guide out shortly for ubuntu... If you want to vmware your machine and not really dual boot per say.. this is the latest guide that we have.. http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-15778 I would go with the hard dual boot.. just something that I am more fond of instead of having 2 virtural computer running different OS'es
  24. Looks like indiana got moved from level3 to ATL on to sprintlink.net to chicago and then timewarner telecom from chicago to dallas.. yet another reason this ISP sucks...
