How much time do you spend on the net & why?
Swimmer replied to monsnet2k8's topic in General Discussion
I am on maybe 5-7 hours per day.. most of the time it is for course work or a project that I am working on.. I try to stay off unless I have to be on for some reason.. -
Resetting a router shouldnt kill it.. depending on what type of connection you have.. If it was DSL then it is possible.. if you require PPPoE.. If that is the case log onto the router gui and just re-set it up.. http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2210&p_created=1110937569&p_sid=wM_KoQgi&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MTImcF9wcm9kcz0wJnBfY2F0cz0mcF9wdj0mcF9jdj0mcF9zZWFyY2hfdHlwZT1hbnN3ZXJzLnNlYXJjaF9ubCZwX3NjZl9sYW5nPTEmcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1QUFBvRQ**&p_li=&p_topview=1

pretty much.. If you are looking for more raw power.. you could look into an athlon XP processor.. but it is going to cost you a pretty penny..

Really.. I have not had any real problems with their products.. I had to replace one of mine.. but their customer service was more than will to work with me. What product have you used?

Yeah it would be nice... but it would kill the chip set business.. I would also mean that you could upgrade from the lower end stuff to the higher end chips for little money, just the price of a CPU.. The idea is to lock you into a performance catigory and then keep you there.. Making you upgrade to the highest CPU.. or spend more money to get a new motherboard and processor. However, AMD does break this rule kind of.. Their former Athlon/Sempron on the 754 platform.. then the move to 939 with the Athlon 64s/X2.. the 939 is being phased out as we speak and are being moved to the AM2 platform..

pretty much... they have been the standard for air cooling for overclockers for some time... cant go wrong with them

I am going to say no.. The pentium M is meant to only run on certain chip sets.. the 1150 has a Intel 852GMV.. The Pentium M does not support this chip set.. I can only find motherboards that support up to a 2.6 celeron..

Well.. there is facebook.. but that is more for current students or recent alumni.. BTW welcome to the forum!

Right now there isnt really a hardware solution of the Wrt54g.. You can QoS the network and make that computer a bulk traffic computer.. meaning that any other computer would have network priority over it. The also means that if the network is not in use then that computer will have full access to the bandwidth.. The only real way would be to install a software solution.. or spend more money on a enterprise class router.

Go with copper or ceramic.. Arctic is a must.. Other than that I dont know of any really good manufactures..

logitech makes some really high quality speakers... i have a pair of the 2200s.. Never have been happier.. I have heard just about all of the new ones except for the 5450s

From what I heard since like 2001 Symantec has been reusing the same code base for every release.. pretty simular to what MS does with windows.. I think 2006 was a brand new code base. I will never go back to Norton stuff.. there is just no reason to.. Unless you are doing enterprise stuff.. Those products are pretty damn good...

The first computer that really "used" was an old 486.. We got windows 3.1 to run on it after about 3 years of Dos shell. Then I got AOL when my parents bought a Gateway 2000 which was a P133 with 64mb of ram and a dedicated video card... We had a 14.4k modem.. which was later fried in a lightning strike... We then bought a USR 56k modem which at the time seemed really fast! Then I joined this forum shortly after I got Comcast internet. That was with a AMD 2000+ with 512mb of ram and about 120gb of hard drive space.

The former specs were 4200rpm and 5400rpm... Hitachi release the first 7200rpm hard drive for notebooks in 2004? I have a first gen 60gb in my dell. It is rare to find any ones still running the 4200 spec.. however you can still find them online... -
What may be the reason??????????? for this???????????????

sounds like you were moved from a static ip system to one that is dynamic.. not a big deal.. Glad you got it working again. -
that is pretty intersting.. not a huge suprise.. AOL just went free as their company continues to lose users and pretty go from the #1 ISP to not even existing. So the development time isnt going to be spend on the project anymore.. to pay for this.. why not install a bunch of crap from other companies.. Their tool bar isnt anything really new.. Symantec has been installing crap on the tool bar ever since I stopped using Norton..

I am not sure how you are saying that you cant get spyware.. most spyware is cache born from IE.. I am pretty sure that anything that will infect a 32-bit system should infect IE on the 64.. I think.. If you are looking for 64 bit programs.. just wait for vista to come out.. Then most of the software manufactures will invest the time to develop 64-bit software.

yeah i am going to guess not but if they are able to pull it off I will be really impressed.. I am pretty sure that the project manager already said that it was going to be release some time early in 2007.. But the business version is going to ship before December. So I would be on the look out for hands on in the next few months. Also the version that are RC my guess is that they are more of the business versions than what you are going to see in the consumer versions. I am pretty sure that they are still working on the media center stuff that is going to be included.

yeah.. I read somewhere that they are having bandwidth issues so they are expanding.. go figure right..

yeah that is a little odd.. most of the time you would use NTFS on a windows xp system.. The machine looks pretty good!! At one point I was looking that machine before I found the one that I now have... I will say that the AMD's do not have the same battery life as the Intel platform.. I get about 4:00 on my dell 1.8ghz machine and about 2:30 or less on my AMD 2400+ Athlon mobile system. Kinda frustrating but it only has to last though one day of classes. -
It is moving toward the final release version.. which is good... Now if only MS can get it out the door before the holiday season.
-
It bypasses the entire networking stack on windows.. it uses ebeded linux and a 400mhz processor to send everything. they be freeing up those extra cpu cycles for your games.
-
haha yeah.. this is only going to go in the extremely high end systems... other than that there really is no point.
