  1. Another version for Pr0n mode on airplanes is.... http://www.freepatentsonline.com/7209557.html And a longer version.. http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/7209557/description.html The libraries have a screen on the front of the monitor that has slits that only allows a viewing angle offset to about 10 degrees. And FireFox has an extension that allows you to change the tab names in the task bar to avoid people reading your minimized window identifier. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2987
  2. Probably more promo than anything for the time it was made. Since speed upgrades have happened for uploads and downloads since then. But do notice all the 'keywords' he said were accurate. But.... Was his line 'capped' at the package speeds or was it set to be wide open, during the test as an employee putting out a video for all to see on YouTube.
  3. So you mean I can't post the video of the hockey game the other day? She was quite natural under glass.... Here comes the Wolf to cleanse my soul.
  4. It's amazing what happens when you tell the provider, you know what your speeds are. Various posts all over the Internet on that subject.
  5. I would point someone towards Hughesnet 'KA band'. Due to being able to have at least two years(or more) before any high capacity of people get on the satellite. Other than the daily FAP limit of beginning at 200MB per 24 hours. But no FAP in the 2am to 5am eastern time, for larger updates. Some beams of WildBlue are full or really slow. And WildBlue has a monthly FAP that people can burn through in two weeks at first and then upgrade to be able to surf properly again. But at least check to see if any other providers are in whatever the users location may be. Like wireless or such. Attached beam maps. I don't have a beam map for WildBlue1 satellite(WildBlues own satellite). Other wise they also use the Anik F2. Hughesnet is the Spaceway3 satellite. Stay away from the 'KU band' satellite packages.
  6. Ping ms = Ping milli second. 1000 mili seconds = 1 second. But that flash based test site never has the proper ping result. Just ignore that ping part. Better to do a ping from from the cmd line. Start, run, type in, cmd ,then type ping and then a space and a web sites name or IP address. Or do a tracert . by typing tracert and a space instead of ping. Enables you to see what servers are slowing things down to your destination.
  7. Cool. I can then get the new RC version and put it on my 8 or 9 year old 512MB ram, 1.5ghz system. ...Windows 7 Still beats Vista Basic by a mile in speed too(and the Vista basic 1 year old machine has a Gig of Ram and 1.8GHz single processor). Hopefully it's just a notification at my snotmail account for the Microsoft download site to get the RC version. And Standby and the Areo interface does not work on the old machine of course(lacking ram space).
  8. Use MalwareBytes in safe mode. If you can download it that is(virus blocks some stuff), other wise burn it to a CD on another computer and install that way. http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol&cdlPid=10896905
  9. I spent my new build computer money on my teeth a few weeks ago. So now I have to wait until this one dies or around X-Mas time as my,,,errr,,, I mean, our X-mas present... But keeping my natural front teeth is more important than a box of teeny, tiny wires and bumpy bits. And if your computer is worth more than your vehicle, you might just be a Uber Geek.
  10. I thought it was 500MB in the download and upload direction. 500Mb for total data traffic. Unless Hughes does not have that on it's site. Unless you are reading 300Kbps 'upload speed' under the '500Mb download limit' on the Xplornet site. Those file sharing programs people forget about the 'sharing' part. There is a flash plugin on CNN.com that is called something like the octopus. It is actually a filesharing program, so CNN saves on bandwidth, by having the users feed upstream the streaming data to other users. Too much money behind it to close the companies doors instantly.
  11. So a reinstall of Windows media player 11 and it did nothing to stop the pauses. Another 7ish months till the next system build, with most probably Windows 7. I do like the Beta version of Windows 7. But just downloaded SonGBird. http://getsonGBird.com/ And the add-on of "shoutcast radio" for my streaming radio stations. And no pauses. YAY...
  12. Windows Media player 11 pauses when streaming Internet radio stations. And going to another station, there is still a wait till the pause stops and the stream begins again. The pause is about 30 seconds or so, Where the stream just stops. My ISP does not block anything. The CPU is still showing as the Media player is functioning, but waiting for the stream to come back. It does not affect browsing or any program downloads. The stations are pingable during the pause. It happens whether I use the FireFox media player plugin or the stand alone Windows media player 11. I'll probably figure it out eventually. Or I'll try a re-install of it. These are the stations. http://www.lynxradionetwork.com/crikclassic.asx http://www.9412.com/rockchick/asx.asp http://www.sky.fm/classicrock/ Or what is a good free media player as a replacement?
  13. Did all the songs get there via purchase or via a file sharing program that came with malware? http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol&cdlPid=10896905 http://www.superantispyware.com/ http://lavasoft.com/ http://safer-networking.org/en/index.html http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/home.jsp http://www.filehippo.com/download_zonealarm_free/ http://avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
  14. When I upped my package from 3Mbps. I had about 24 hours of unstable speeds in the 4mbps range, till it locked in to the new speed. So my tests were all over the place.
  15. With DSL, there is a certain amount of overhead(system data) and then line distance to the main connection point down the street. So your speeds will average about 500Kbps to 1000Kbps slower than package top rated speed. My ISP is Telus and my package is 6Mbps. My stable speeds are about 5200Kbps(5.2Mbps) 24/7. Sometimes there is a delay in processing for full speed if a tech has to do something at the main switch for your connection. But if you are upgrading from 3Mbps, then you have probably hit top speed if it is now stable at that.
  16. If the pings/tracert is good in there, I usually just ignore them from a post. For the most part, the tracerts further down the chain are more important. But I have seen some peoples tracerts that show their own router or modem as the main slowdown in the tracert. And those are the simple ones to fix. Sometimes as simple as rebooting their router or modem at least once a month. Or as tough as getting out the 5 pound sledge hammer for the satellite people. My XP box was acting weird one day and I realized that I had not rebooted in a month. Standby at night is an insomniacs delight.
  17. Seems part of the slowdown in network servers has lifted. Ping is almost to the normal 80ms(showing 90ms now). Upload is still showing slow. Mine is generally an upload of 800Kbps. Download is showing okay now. I underlined two servers that are still showing higher tracert times. ::::::::::.. 19. Were you using the http://www.testmy.net/speedtest/download_speedtest.php speedtest here? Or the other one that is flash based and gives odd numbers(high) to certain ISP's? But it could be an error for Hughesnet speed provisioning at the top speed.

  23. Cause I'm old fashioned. If I were to have over 6 windows open at a time, maybe Tabbed would be okay. But generally I don't go over 5 windows open at once. And I am accustomed to have them sit in the bottom task bar. People who leave multiple sites open for hours on end and switch back and forth, love Tabs. And Tabs free up the task bar for desktop programs. Great for office workers who are supposed to be working. But I have 'just the browser' or the 'just the desktop' open usually. Heres a link to some TAB add-ons reviews. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/too-many-tabs-firefox-add-ons-to-manage-a-tab-jam/
