  1. Unfortunately, going wireless means losing speed. Does your laptop have a NIC? If so, I'd consider hooking it up directly and seeing if there's much difference.
  2. Hello and welcome.
  3. Welcome to the forum, TabeyTabe. Looks like you're on the right path for sure. Don't forget to tell all your friends!
  4. Yeah, that's just sad, really
  5. Define real.
  6. Most modems use half-duplex, and are configured for 10Mbps, although some will accept 100Mbps.
  7. Would you like those seconds of your life back?
  8. gave you something to do though, no?
  9. I would also suggest using the file that Voltageman attached (in reply #5), and increasing the Default Receive Window to 127776.
  10. Wow, another one bites the dust. Happy New Year, Testmy.net and members!!!
  11. Got a popup blocker? Sometimes spyware will install popup blockers (in IE, go to view --> toolbars --> and see what's there). But popups are not the only form, that's more adware. You may have tracking cookies, malware, loggers, worms, trojans....the list goes on and on, and they'll all affect your speed and overall PC performance. The only way to really know if you've got them is to run a scan to find them. Why not do it? It's easy....
  12. Nah, trace is just fine. When you are using cablenut, are you doing it like this: loading the .ccs file, clicking save to registry, rebooting your PC and then testing again? Be sure to use the file provided and make sure you are doing it properly. Did you shut down your firewall for the test? Scan for spyware? Run ccleaner to debug your reg? It's all in the STICKY.
  13. Those traces show loss at an IP (130.81.18.89) within your ISP's network.
  14. Something to do with Symantec. You got Norton? You may need to reinstall.
  15. I agree with Dark_Matter.
  16. Trace looks good.
  17. Try testing from one of these 2 servers: http://www.testmy.net/o-mirror-just- http://www.testmy.net/o-mirror-VanBuren
  18. insideout, I see from the trace that there is a loss between the router (192) and the modem (10). A firmware upgrade of the router or a new cable may resolve this. However, to troubleshoot your connection further, can you make a direct connection from you computer to the modem and perform another traceroute and speedtest?
  19. ParkwayDrive, welcome to the forum. Can you please provide a traceroute like this: -click start, click run -type cmd and click ok -type tracert testmy.net and hit enter Then paste your results here.
  20. Or possibly making the "Retest" button bigger so that it stands out more?
  21. Try this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;312351
  22. Right-click my computer --> properties --> hardware tab --> device manager --> network adapters --> right-click NIC --> properties --> advanced tab. whew.
  23. I especially find it funny that it's in the "Make it Faster" forum.
  24. Your anger is a gift.
  25. Quite honestly, its probably not the service. Are you on a router? Can you provide a traceroute please?
