  5. I wanted to welcome you to testmy.net, and thanks. These guys are correct in saying that what you are getting is about what you will get, but there are a few things you can do to fine tune what you have. First how well maintained is your machine, do you keep simple lightweight security systems , are you keeping your browser clean from bandwidth slurping malware, what about TCP teaks, have you done any registry adjustments. Hope to hear back from you.
  6. For certain ! You do have the basic security of not being hacked though, generally, if a uy comes across a connection like that, he gets pissed and moves on to something with a little more throughput.
  7. Look under the "theme" dropdown " up there, this afaik is the only way to change the color here by selecting a different theme. ( I know you knew that nano punk, I posted for the rest that may not know )

  9. So you open to a blank page ? I used to, but since google opens in the same flash that my browser does, if and when it is ever closed, then I dont need to hit that extra set of keys.
  10. I noticed that myself. Seems as if they do something every few days or so. Since I use it as a starter page when i open a browser.

  12. First off welcome to testmy.net, I am certain that i speak for the rest of this community in welcoming you. Sounds as if you have lead a rich and copious life this far, along with giving to whichever community that you reside in. I light of that, you have found a place in which could be considered one of the most versatile internet communities, with topics that range from deep technical issues along the lines of coding, to the other end of the spectrum life elsewhere, and most everything in between. I'm sure you will be as much if not more if an asset to this community as the resources herein.
  13. same here, but I was going to ask you, if it is possible something is interfering with the antenna position ?
  14. Glad you decided to join, there's a couple < crazies here, to so look out hehe , j/k
  15. what is IE doing ? You may have a nasty in there. Do your scans in safe mode while disconnecting the ethernet cable and or the wireless, and see what you get.
  16. Keeping in mind, a proxy is a means to mask Ip [ things=[ other ] , so the connection will be routed to the proxy after going back through the ISP servers then off to wherever your pointing to. Depending on the quality of the proxy, this normally slows a connection at times to a completely unusable state, let alone super high response times. Any information about the antenna , and the way it is mounted would be helpful. Since this is something relatively new.
  17. Make sure you log out of your email server completely, clear your browser cache before logging back in. Or is it already back working ?
  18. whats the reviews on this ?anyone ?
  19. You already are , now that you joined up, and started in
  20. There has to be a "user friendly" way to do this. Without editing the registry. Like other versions of windows. Or am I missing something ?
  21. Holy cow !!!! Do you know what you did exactly to do that ? I suppose not though hehe Glad it's back !
  22. ryan i will install what I have today, I should have already, then i will look and see. Is i possible you were infected, as dliw stated ? or were you as you say just fiddling ? Here , try this....... 1. Open Command Prompt by typing command in RUN dialog box. 2. Now provide following command: cdwindows 3. It'll activate Windows folder. Now provide following command to open Registry Editor: regedit If you can't open it, then do it from task manager 4. Now goto following key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.exe In right-side pane, change value of Default key to exefile 5. Now goto: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTexefileshellopencommand In right-side pane, change value of Default key to: "%1" %* 6. Thats it. Now exit Registry Editor and restart your Windows. Now you should be able to open EXE files without any problem.
  23. wow, hehe, I take it you have gone into the folder that the specific file type is contained, and right clicked it , clicked "open as" , then made sure that the little box underneath that says " always open with " < or something like that , is not ticked ? You could also try going to folder options, and clicking file types, and se what you could do there. Unless 7 is nothing like this. I have 7, but haven't really done anything with it yet, so excuse me if I'm talkin out my arse......
  24. For some reason, i feel there's something lost in translation like, the point. He'll be back, and explain ....
