richcornucopia Posted May 15, 2006 CID Share Posted May 15, 2006 How about 4 dual core opteron's? Thats basically 8 cpu's in one computer. On a folding note, just jumped up again. Now I'm at 19. Is there anyway to set time limits for folding, like allow it to fold between some hour to the next?

Blunted 2 Posted May 15, 2006 CID Share Posted May 15, 2006 i could have 4 comps running but that would destroy my electric bill which is already high cause of all the crap i run. i wonder how much $$$ a month it cost on the electric bill to run 1 comp and all it ran was folding@home program? Shug7272 Posted May 15, 2006 CID Share Posted May 15, 2006 Nice move shug, your screamin up here, I guess Id better kick it up a notch Thanks man, I have my comp at home going and then 5 at work going and they are all pretty quick especially the home pc. I still have a way to go to top 10 though.I passed CA3LE though. You hear that CA3LE.. CMON WOMAN.. BRING IT. :angry5: :angry5:
just- Posted May 15, 2006 CID Share Posted May 15, 2006 i am sure we can work it out lets say a power supply at 400W how much does it cost one kilow what?
resopalrabotnick Posted May 15, 2006 CID Share Posted May 15, 2006 it's more difficult than that. the output is rated at 400w. it may well take in more than that, due to losses in the power supply. (which is the heat you need the ps fan for in the first place.)
php Posted May 16, 2006 CID Share Posted May 16, 2006 but it also doesn't necessarily use the full 400 watts it's capable of producing...
resopalrabotnick Posted May 16, 2006 CID Share Posted May 16, 2006 so basically we need the type of power supply to be able to look up its efficiency and then a list of all the hardware in the machine to be able to determine their power consumption. from that we can then determine the true draw of the ps on the mains. find out if he has a long powercord on it to be able to factor in that resistance if needed... not to forget the monitor (also draws power when blanked or in standby) speakers hooked up to it. quite a project... RTB Posted July 27, 2006 CID Share Posted July 27, 2006 Check the stats, currently I'm the second highest on the point/week list. You, with your 200 - 250 points/week, won't ever catch up. And that's just two computers folding
