  1. I was 10 when Kennedy was killed so I remember it coming on the announcements at school. The man who wrote the poem would be 120+ years if he was still alive.& he was a staunch Democrat. It was written about a week after the assassination.A lot of news about the Kennedys has been released since. But I thought the perspective of a man in his late 70's at the time of the assassination was interesting.Especially since I knew him.I doubt if anyone but me has a copy of this poem at least till now.
  2. I ran across this the other day.It is by a freind of my grandparents. This man was a veteran of WW1 & WW2 .He was also a farmer & when he wrote poems used the name Farmer Schaeffer. This was written right after the Kennedy assassination in 1963.It has no tittle as far as I know. A shot rang out one sunny day A nation plunged in grief Those silent throngs have gathered round In shocking disbelief But yes,'tis true, alas 'tis true Too late to call him back A grieving wife his only shield From murderous attack A sober thought accross the land Our conscience was divulged A tragic sequence to the thoughts We have so long indulged The fruits of bitter hate,we now have plucked And bitter though they be we must thereof eat to the full in sad humility His rendevous with destiny Although it was so brief The ship of State in troubled waters He guided by the reef his love of country knew no bounds His works, they did suffice And for that love and loyalty He paid the highest price The world has lost a giant, great Who battled for the right This erring worldpays tribute to A brave man and his might The colored man has lost a friend The poor an advocate We all have lost a captain bold To guide the ship of State Down Pennsylvania Avenue The cortege winds its way Past weeping throngs of citizens With silent lips that pray With measured tread the caisson rolls The Stars and Stripes his shroud The flags are flying at half mast The cannon boom so loud With muffled drum and sound of taps In sorrow laid to rest We wonder why it had to be God does things for the best In mystic ways He sometimes moves His wonders to perform The foulest air is somehow cleansed In wake of brutal storm Wistful children so woebegone A widow numbed with grief 'Tis only through the grace of God That they have found relief The widow now walks not alone For God walks by her side Her children walk, also, with her In understanding pride The lighted torch he carried high Its flame will never dim Eternal flame of liberty For it was lit by him Ever onward this vision goes To the far ends of the world To ligh the hopes of mortal man This challenge by him hurled Safe at last across the river Beyond the pale of sorrow He left his stamp upon the world Left a bright tomorrow We thank the Lord that we have had Him with us for a while His steady hand upon the helm His ready willing smile We know he had not lived in vain for he accomplished much We hope he has not died in vain He left that human touch A noble warrior for the right He shirked not from the fray We have a duty to the dead Let's start on it today All that are left are memories Wrote with a golden pen Memories that will live forever Live in the hearts of men Farewell, farewell, John Kennedy But no, 'tis not farewell Just au revoir, our gallent chief Whom we loved so well FARMER SCHAEFFER
  3. joe123 ;I looked up some topics here at testmy you might want to look at. From the ping it looks like you have the correct MTU & MSS for your connection. http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=9137.msg89049#msg89049 http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=11218.msg111408#msg111408 http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=8555.msg83659#msg83659 http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=5117.msg47780#msg47780 http://smallvoid.com/tweak/winnt/network.html#AFD_WINDOW
  4. coknuck :This is what is says when the MTU is too high: C:WINDOWS>ping testmy.net -f -l 1500 Pinging testmy.net [67.18.179.85] with 1500 bytes Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set. Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set. Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set. Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set. Ping statistics for 67.18.179.85: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (10 Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms At least this is my OS response. On yours when you use the MTU in the command you get this: Pinging 0.0.5.220 with 0 bytes of data: I get this: Pinging testmy.net [67.18.179.85] with 1500 bytes thats with the too large MTU but it shows I'm pinging with 1500 & testmy address . This is a list of ping commands I get by just typing ping. C:WINDOWS>ping Usage: ping [-t] [-a] [-n count] [-l size] [-f] [-i TTL] [-v TOS] [-r count] [-s count] [[-j host-list] | [-k host-list]] [-w timeout] destination-list Options: -t Ping the specified host until stopped. To see statistics and continue - type Control-Br To stop - type Control-C. -a Resolve addresses to hostnames. -n count Number of echo requests to send. -l size Send buffer size. -f Set Don't Fragment flag in packet. -i TTL Time To Live. -v TOS Type Of Service. -r count Record route for count hops. -s count Timestamp for count hops. -j host-list Loose source route along host-list. -k host-list Strict source route along host-list. -w timeout Timeout in milliseconds to wait for each reply.
  5. It looks like you are set for DSL.I thought your would fragment at 1472 & need to use 1464 not to fragment. It looks like that is what your OS did the second time .That means you have the correct MTU & MSS for your connection. So your command looked like this ping -f -l 1464 testmy.net ? If you want the larger rwin in Cablenut to work you need to have scaling turned on.The 64240 should be the unscaled rwin.
  6. coknuck ;Thats what it should do.Now try it with a larger amount like 1474 it should defragment. The amount 1472 is 1500 for the MTU minus 28 for the headers. This should mean a MTU of 1500 works for your connection .So a MSS of 1460 is correct too.
  7. coknuck;I thought that was the one for XP try this one ping -f-l1472 testmy.net The correct one for 9x is ping testmy.net -f-l1472
  8. joe123 :Try theTCP/IP Analyzer at this site below. https://www.speedguide.net/nalyzer See what it detects as your rwin & MTU & MSS. Also from command prompt try ping -f -l1472 testmy.net & see if it defragments or what your packet loss is.The _l is a small L.
  9. Xobile; You might like to use the TCP/IP Analyzer test at this site : https://www.speedguide.net/ To see what it detects your RWIN as.
  10. waterRTBH;Actually chocolate is not fattening .It's the other stuff in it.Like sugar & fat .Of course chocolate without sugar & fat doesn't taste very good either.Try some plain old chocolate powder sometime if you don't believe me. You know why people go to Jenny Craig meetings? Because the meeting room has double doors.
  11. CaptainSauce;I don't have XP but this is what I found maybe some of it will help you. XP's built-in Administrator account is hidden from the welcome screen when a user account with admin privileges exists and is enabled. XP Home Edition allows you to login as built-in administrator in safe mode only. In XP Professional, just press CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the Welcome Screen then type in your admin password into the resulting classic logon window that appears. Below, you will find two methods to have the admin account display in the welcome screen. [1] TweakUI: You can download Tweakui for free here: http://www.5starsupport.com/info/xpinfo.htm#powertoys 1. Once you open Tweakui. 2. In the left pane, click the Logon option. 3. Then place a checkmark in the Show Administrator option. 4. Click OK Once you logoff, the welcome screen should now list Administrator login. [2] Edit Windows Registry: Warning: Be sure to make a backup copy of the registry prior to making any changes. Go to Start>> Run>> Type in: regedit [Enter] Drill down to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/Winlogon/SpecialAccounts/ UserList Right-click an empty space in the right pane and select New DWORD Value. Type in the word Administrator as the value. Double-click this new value, and enter 1 as the data. Close the registry editor. Microsoft constantly issue patches for newly-discovered software vulnerabilities, so you need to keep your machine updated. The most painless way to do this if you have a permanent connection to the Internet and you tend to leave your machine on is to allow the machine to update itself and reboot if necessary overnight. To do this, right-click on My Computer, choose Properties and bring the Automatic Updates tab to the front. Select Automatically download the updates, and install them on the schedule that I specify. In this particular example, the machine is set to check Microsoft's website every day (recommended) for updates and install them at 3:00AM in the morning. What you will choose depends on your circumstances. if you don't leave your machine on and permanently connected, then you should choose Download the updates automatically and notify me when they are ready to be installed. If you don't like this being done automatically, then choose the first option instead. The Administrator account is present on every Windows XP machine (all users are by default given the rights of an Administrator) but it is hidden. To password it (and to check that all other accounts are passworded) go to Start>Run and type 'control userpasswords2'. Make sure that Users must enter a name and password to use this computer is ticked, and then choose the Administrator account and click on Reset Password. You will be prompted for a password, which you then need to confirm. Running any version of XP prior to Service Pack 2? Back up your registry, then add or change this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Software Policies Microsoft Windows WindowsUpdateAU If it doesn't already exist, create the DWord value "NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers". Set it to 0 if you want Windows to automatically restart, or 1 to prevent automatic restart. Then exit and reboot your computer. The result: As long as users are logged on the system, it won't take matters into its own hands. Post-XP SP2, one user reports success at disabling automatic restarting after updates on XP Home by: Disabling Windows Automatic Updates; Opening Task Manager (by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del); Ending all instances of wuauclt.exe, then; Making the registry changes noted above. Once Service Pack 2 is installed, XP Pro, 2000 and 2003 users can stop automatic reboots by editing Group Policy. Start the Group Policy editor, select Windows Update in the Windows Components portion of the Administrative Template, and choose No auto-restart for scheduled Automatic Updates installations. You can also completely disable Windows Update at the Group Policy or User level.
  12. .s1 ;Is right about the distance.I opened 4 windows of testmy's DL test & started the tests as close togather as I could.the time on one is off but it was done at the same time anyway. You can see how it divided the bandwidth on my dial-up .I'm not sure how this would work with a faster connection maybe someone will give it a try & post I used the 579 kB tests because I was using dial-up added togather the total is 46Kbps which is about right if I was only doing one test. :::.. 13. karthic;I'm not sure what your asking.Do you mean the testmy speed test showed 80kpbs while you were doing a DL from another site? Or Windows DL box showed the 80kpbs? As far as I know you can run simultaneous DL speed tests in different windows from testmy. But you bandwidth would be divided so slower. As far as other sites speed also depends on that sites capacity to upload or their upload speed.
  14. So you were raised on RC cola too. My mom was only 5'3" & I had a great grandfather that was only 5'3" too.My dad was only 5'10" & I turned out 6' so go figure.I did have a grand father that was 6'2" I probably got the height from him. I knew Shug was a big man He posted his picture & size before.& yet he does ballet he's a sight to see in his pink tutu.
  15. Shug7272;The electronic one I have uses the bicep cuff just like the old manual type.My dentist uses one of the wrist cuff types. The one I have is pretty close to the one he uses because last time I went to the dentist I checked my BP with mine to see if it was close to what it had been at the dentist.& it was. I agree it would probably be hard to get an effective militia going. But until they do away with it we are still in the day of the Constitution. It is a living document.Unless things do get so bad everyone is willing to do something I don't see a militia being formed..I hope the US military would not be too ready to kill fellow Americans & would turn on the ones that gave those orders.I wish it was possible to go the non-government route also but there are too many people who don't have the moral fiber to make this work.Imagine those that are criminals now or big business or politicians about the same if they had no government control. We really would need militia then. I agree about the waste too .In my town the society types started a auditorium for ballet, theater & the like now it has been turned over to the town (us taxpayers to finish & run) The money spent in Iraq would have went a long way to help this country. But that wouldn't have helped Bush's Saudi buddies. On that note I heard on the news the other day that 15 of the 911 hijackers were Saudis so who should we have went to war against?
  16. resopalrabotnick; This new ruling sets a precident that the police DO NOT have to knock.Water posted 1 link to CNN that had the article.Below is a Google link of several sites that have the news about the ruling. http://www.google.com/search?q=Supreme+Court+ruled+Thursday+that+police+armed+with+a+ warrant+can&num=100&sa=Google+Search
  17. I'm 6' even. Might as well add weight.Between 185 & 195 lbs today 192lbs.
  18. Shug7272 ;First on the hypertension :I have an electrinic BP checker & my average is 11o to 112 over 70 to 74.So I think I'm fine in this respect maybe because I don't hold back. Now for the militia heres a quote from the Constitution ,the second Amendment to be specific. The reason for this is that the government federal or state should have a respectful fear of the Militia. This is not the military as in the army ,etc. But organized armed citizens making sure the government doesn't turn into a tyrany. The problem is we really no longer have a Militia in the USA to instill this fear in the government.Sure there are some radical groups that call themselves a militia but really aren't. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State" For the warrant service it's not guilt of the person the warrant is for that is the determining factor of the wrong the government is doing in this.It is their violation of the Constituion Fourth Amendment"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, againstunreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. " They are sworn to uphold this not violate it.
  19. This is the reverse of the Republican economics "trickle down "theory. This is the Republican drug war "trickle up" bust the small dealer & this will stop the big mafia dealer. This has worked well on both counts hasn't it? & I was a hippy in the early 70's
  20. It would have been hard for the dealer that brought the shipping container that the drugs that trickled down to the hippies were in to have flushed it.& even if the city wants to catch the small dealer or user they have the authority to contain all material coming from a sewer pipe probably withiut a warrant.
  21. I only posted pics of the VW Thing their own name.I didn't post any pics of the kuebelwagen even if it looks very simular.
  22. Would you apply the same advice to the Gestapo if you were a Jew in Germany during WW2.That is one thing that happens when the police are given too much power.& rights are given away. The police don't need "unreasonable search & seizure" to do their job.We need to protect & defend the Constitution even by violent means if necessary. This is how we will remain a free people. I would like to see a list of the millionares doors that have been busted down this way.For the war on drugs they only bust small dealers while letting shipping containers full of drugs come in freely. How many pounds of drugs do you think is used in the USA in only a week.I don't think the amount could be carried across the border if everyone crossing the border was carrying drugs. The point is they don't bust the big money people behind the drugs at all much less by breaking down the door. This will only be used against the average or poor citizen.
  23. It's about time I weighed into this.I'm going to start with a disclaimer. This is my opinion & not necessarily that of testmy.net ownership. I think the time is coming when citizen patriots will have to take a stand against the US government now in power .To take back our rights. This recent Supreme Court ruling supports & even encourages illegal search & seizure. It is an unConstitutional decision.I think us patriots need to get together & hang the entire current Supreme Court maybe the next one would try to follow the Constitution. I want to give these examples where this type of bust in with a warrant would not be done.Say the police got one for the White House. The governor's mansion of some state, even the mayor or police chief of a city.Would they just bust these doors down or knock & present the warrant?Would they do it at 3:00 AM like they do us regular citizens? Those are rhetorical questions. Why have we allowed hard fought for rights to deteriorate to this level? I'm not worried about them busting my door down at least till they read this. But I have thought about getting a couple of claymores & installing them at my door & anyone busting it down .I would fire the clamors since those breaking in had not clearly identified themselves there would be no reason for me to think they were anything but criminals.I would not set the claymores as a bobby trap since that would be illegal.& I would claim self defense. The claymores might be illegal to own but in the long run any law that says I can't own any weapon violates my Second Amendment right to keep & bear arms.
  24. I thought I would add a few more Although I like the Sparrow .& I put the escargo in for Roco I kind of like it too.
  25. EWO ;I went & looked at the .22LR Sub Sonic 65 .Those would be fine but for what I use this gun for I think the regular LR hollowpoints are fine.I don't have a gun collection but I do have quite a few.But my 2 choices of my guns for house protection are the 22 Rugger pistol or my 12ga.double barrel .It's a short shot gun but legal still the way I bought it at the gun store. I have a Benelli 9mm pistol as well.I have a single shot Kentucky black powder 45 cal. pistol that might be interesting for the forensics people if I used it.It shoots a nice flame out the barrel. I have a colt replica 44 cal Colt revolver Black powder. That's about half my guns.
