I decided to address this more completly.First let me say I doubt if what I would suggest will be followed by the nations of the Earth.So it is just theory. First I would like to cover the Chinese solution & I think dn0 was talking about mandatory abortion.If my plan was implimented this would not be necessary. I would like to see(not see myself because of the time it would take I would be dead before it was finished) the Earth population to a total of 10 to 15 million.I think this amount could sustain a modern civilization & have little enviromental impact.All the nations of the Earth would have to do it. 1.Limit couples to one child.This would mean if you divorced & remarried if you had a child with the first marriage the even if your new mate didn't you couldn't have a child.This would be already taken care of anyway by mandatory sterilization of both parents upon the birth of their child.That would take care of the need for abortion.I think this would also result in couples staying married.A good side benefit. 2. Now for those men(& I use this term loosly) who think they can just have several bastard children.With DNA they would be sterilized the first time a woman proved a child was theirs. I would take this a step further if a man fatherd a second child he would get 25 years in prison at hard labor to support the second child.If it could be proven the woman he had the second child with knew he already had a child she would get the same sentence.For a third child the sentence would be life at hard labor. This would also take care of the teen boy woh had 10 girls pregnant at once.I think a life sentence would discourage this. 3.Allowance would have to be made for multiple births but there would be no fertility drugs allowed to be manufactured .If some company of individual did manufacture some the death penalty would be the sentence. I think the odds of a couple having a second child by accident are almost 0 if both have been sterilized. If the variations of the human race were to be maintained the interracial marriage would be discouraged but not outlawed.This is not racism but would be necessary with a small population. Most of the people would have to live in a limited area & this would be plenty large .The rest of the planet would go back to nature. Unfortunatly I doubt if this will be done & many will starve & die of a super-plague.Or a planet so polluted they can't survive.The Earth will defend itself .& that's what I believe will really happen. Or an all out nuclear war.Mankind doesn't seem to have the sense to get together & take care of the problem a better way.

That's one of the reasons I 'm pro population control.If each couple has only 1 child in time this halfs the population every generation instead of increasing.I made the decision a long time ago on no children so I'm doing my part.Personally I would be for zero population growth for about 30 years the a select few would be allowed to have children .This would be by some kind of lottery.& would be adjusted to allow enough of each race.Although my own opinion on this is that there is only one race the human race .All races are just variations of the one.

I got a little Brit humor from a MASH episode.Hawkeye & BJ were getting a section of artery to replace a damaged one in a leg from a Brit unit in Korea.When the were signing the papers at the Brit Colonal's office he said a lot of trouble for a leg & that his father had lost both legs in WW2 & thought he lived years longer because he didn't have to tie his laces. So it may have been the operator that made the weapon fail in the attack on the Missouri.I don't suppose he admitted it was anything he did. On buildings this would be a last resort when the military failed to stop an of course plane before it gets that close to a city. It may be a missle next time but the Towers were brought down by hijacked commercial airplanes so it probably have been set to target those sucessfully. I don't know if the peices would have resulted in a higher death rate or more property destruction .I don't think it would have.If you consider not only those in the Tpwers & their immediate rescuers.What about health problems that occured in people exposed to the debri many that may not have shown up yet.& may not be linked to the debri bit were actually caused by it. So I would opt to use the Phalanx on tall buildings in major cities especially coast cities.& I guess the only way to find out if it was better or not would unfortunatly take another terrorist act:that hopefully would be deterred by knowing the buildings were equipped with the Phalanx.Or target smaller cities without the weapon. I don't expect to be making this decision myself. If they target anything in my area it would probably be the Pantex nuclear weapons assembly /disassembly plant about 20 miles for here.If terrirists are sucessful at that I probably won't be here to do anything about it.Hopefully it has a better defense system than I know about.I personally believe that if they hit this plant just wrong it would destroy most if not all the life on Earth.If rumor is correct there is more weapons grade nuclear material stored there than anywhere else.Some of this might be degraded because it was removed from old nukes American & Russian(Yes they contracted to disassemble Russian nukes & store the waste.)So it would be bad if hit.

I agree the phalanx CIWS wouldn't be a perfect solution but what would.It could be set for fairly short range detection & yes the shot down airplane would have debri that would land on other things & probably people.But still if you believe that the fuel from the planes caused the Twin Towers collapse.The parts wouldn't have the fuel or a lot less of it. As for choppers & high rise helipads I guess the people that use them would have to give them up in some areas. I still like the weapon it probably just needs some more fine tuning.If the Missouri hadn't fired the chaff & let the phalanx take care of the Seersucker missile it probably would have.

What ever they end up building it needs one of these on top or the updated version.If it had one in the first place the Twin Towers would still be there. (That's if the planes are really what caused the collapse) I think every building in the US over a certain height should have one.They could be manned by the US military .Take them out of Iraq & put them to loading & maintaining these. tdawnaz;The businesses are allowed to broadly interpret this "calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship ".Just because I use a credit card I don't need a telemarketer calling to sell me credit card protection.Which is really an "insurance policy" usually sold by a company other than the actual credit card company.This is one of the calls I still get.I call that broady interpreting "business relationship ".This IMO is not directly related to my using the credit card but to use my phone line for them to make money. Directly related would be a call having something to do with the charges made. That's just my example I'm sure others have had calls where this was broadly interpreted.

resopalrabotnick ;I agree the do not call list doesn't stop all calls.& it did leave a loop hole for companies that a person has done business with.Credit card companies are the worst to use this loophole.But for me it has cut the telemarketing calls by about 95% & I can live with that. I think the law should have been in this part to allow businesses that a person has business with to call only on a matter directly related to that business. I think when I get one I'm going to start asking for the company president's home phone number.Then when they can't give me that I will just add that I guess he doesn't want to be bothered at home either & I only deal with the head man.(That is not intended to be gender biased) So I would definitely recommend the do not call list.I'm on both the national & Texas do not call list.In my case it has helped a lot.

S7R1D3R;This tells me that your packets are not fragmenting at a mtu of 1492.So your connection settings are for DSL.Your not getting any packet loss to testmy.net with ping at this MTU.Your average ping time to testmy.net at you max mtu is 162ms. You can use this to any site that allows ping to see your average latency to that site at your max mtu.If you just use ping without a byte number it only uses 32 bytes.So the latency will be a lot less but not as accurate for your OS's latency.

S7R1D3R;If you have DSL your MTU is probably 1492 so 1492 - 28 for the headers =1464 so try 1464. If you have cable check to see what your MTU is.It should be 1500. Even if Windows has the correct MTU some modems & routers change it so you need to check their settings as well. But if you have DSL try the 1464 first. You acn see what the tcp/ip analyzer says at speedguide.net.Some people it works well for & some not so well.I know it doesn't work for satellite.

FGOKURULES;It's like ballista said it is the phone service line between the pole & house.This would include the DSL line if you have DSL. It got the name drop when all lines were in air.Now many are underground instead.Your electric service lines are also called drops.
