First go to system propertiesdevice managerdisplay adapter Highlight S3Inc. Savage4 then select properties. select driver tab then update driver button. Then specify the location of the driver (advanced) then Next button. Then display a list of all drivers in a specific location,so you can select the driver you want. Then Next button then show all hardware.Highlight S3 under manufacturers & S3Inc. Savage4 under models then next. you will get a warning box select yes there you will get the windows is ready to install box select next.then finish. If you don't have the file on your os it will not finish.I have the updated driver for my display adapter in a folder on C: you may have to get an updated driver from S3 but I think you already have that. You can browse to it on the floppy disk if thats where you have it.after this you will need to restart but first remove both standard display adapter(VGA) from the device manager. At least the screen shot showed these.

Glad it worked I guess that means you got the Sygate firewall to work?

Sytem cleaner or optimizer? I need a good one!
cholla replied to duffman1234's topic in General Help
duffman1234: Does the memory optimizer program you used have a restore defaults or backup some software does. Or can you do a system restore to a point before you use the memory optimizer. I use cc cleaner, easy cleaner ( don't use the duplicate files function unless you are an expert), & regseeker for a registry cleaner. All are freeware.I don't think any of them will change the memory settings back to default though. -
I have taken your suggestion & PMed you & another mod. Edit : Thanks RTB & Swimmer for PMing me back on this .I decided to PM CA3LE to see if I can get the exact reason.

I'm still doing some checking on this but try your search to find MSIEXEC I found it in my OS(windows ME) in windows VCM It is an installer.I also found msiexec in System but it was a different version. If you cant find it .It was probably deleted someway .See if you can extract it from your windows Installation CD. Or maybe your OptionsCABS or INSTALL.Below are several links to MS including DLs for the installer. http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/community/centers/management/msi_faq.mspx http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=898628 http://support.microsoft.com/search/default.aspx?catalog=LCID%3D1033%26CDID%3DEN-US-KB%26PRODLISTSRC%3DON&mode=s&cat=false&query=MSIEXEC&srch=sup&x=17&y=18 http://support.microsoft.com/search/default.aspx?Catalog=LCID%3D1033%26CDID%3DEN-US-KB%26PRODLISTSRC%3DON&Product=&KeywordType=ALL&Titles=false&numDays=&maxResults=25&withinResults=&Queryl=installer&Query=installer&QuerySource=gsfxSearch_Query&srchExtraQr http://search.microsoft.com/search/results.aspx?View=en-us&p=2&c=10&st=b&qu=MSIEXEC&na=31&cm=512 http://search.microsoft.com/search/results.aspx?st=b&na=88&View=en-us&qu=MSIEXEC These are the installer downloads they might replace the missing file.I put all 3 I didn't know which OS you have. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=5FBC5470-B259-4733-A914-A956122E08E8&displaylang=en http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=CEBBACD8-C094-4255-B702-DE3BB768148F#affinity http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=4B6140F9-2D36-4977-8FA1-6F8A0F5DCA8F&displaylang=en

Could you give a little more information.Like was it confiscated by the FBI,CIA, or other Patroit act enforcing government agency.Or the other side in Crawford Texas protesting Cindy Sheehan? Don't take the previous 2 sentences seriously. I would just like to know why it was removed. Was it anything I posted in the topic ?
-
I just wanted to know since I didn't find it at all.Usually if a topic gets to flaming too much it is locked & archived.I did a search but kept getting the words are too short error. Cindy Sheehan is what I put in search that seemed long enough to me. Did milchama complain?I know I said nothing personal about him like he did me.But I didn't complain even when called a hypocritical bigot that quotes from a K.K.K. Bible & thats pretty personal. I'm still not complaining but I wanted to know what happened to the topic. If someone will let me know I would appreciate it.

First create a folder in your drive C name it sygate. When the download window comes up select save & save DL to the sygate folder. When it finishes that's where the sygate installer should be.This way you have the installer which is also the uninstaller. Then just select open folder to make sure you have it.Then shut down everything but systray & explorer with CtrlAltDelete & install or uninstall which ever it wants to do. Then reboot. One of these 2 should get you to the download I downloaded from. http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm http://www.simtel.com/product.download.mirrors.php?id=53687 select virginia as download site This is a screenshot of the installer.
-
If you have a system restore point from before you DLed the firewalls I would try that. On the Sygate if you saved it try to install it again from the saved installation file .The reason for doing this is if it is still installed this will give you the uninstall program for Sygate. If its no longer installed it should try to install it again. If you didn't save the installation file DL it again & save it this time make sure it is the same version. Then try the install. If you don't find an uninstall program for software you DL try to contact the software site to find out if it has an uninstall or how they recommend uninstalling their software. If thats not possible look in Program Files to see if there is an uninstall in the software file there. Then try addremove in the control panel .The registry should be a last resort to remove a program. I have not used Zone Alarm so I can't help you with it specifically.

Hi MYRIAGON the 150280 tcpip analyzer shows is only one number off the 150380 you told Theace1 to use in the DrTcp settings. I think he made a typo entering it.Thats probably what his RWIN is set at right now.But that makes the unscaled window 37570 probably too small. If he uses 128480 or 256960 the unscaled window should be 64240 which should be optimal for broadband.Except PPPoE.

Hi all I posted this in the other topic too.I think it makes a point about not posting a cached test.If I can get this result with a 56K dialup connection in a cached test. How do you feel if you post a slower cached test with a faster connection? Sorry, your score of 37676 Kbps is over TestMy.net's max of 30000 Kbps. I doubt your connection is faster than 30000 Kbps... Please RETEST

Hi all :I am only posting this to show how ridiculous a cached test is.This is one done with dialup on a 56K modem. Sorry, your score of 37676 Kbps is over TestMy.net's max of 30000 Kbps. I doubt your connection is faster than 30000 Kbps... Please RETEST

Theace1 I don't know what to tellyou. broadband reports rwin = 512000 you say it is 256960 which should be a good one speedguide.net shows rwin = 150280 I think they should all show the same RWIN .I haven't checked mine at broadband for a while .I will try & see if it shows mine the same as speedguide then edit.Van Buren is very good at helping with rwin if you can catch him online. Edit I did both tests & they showed my RWIN the same on both.
-
I believe that fattymcbluff is correct these 2 programs conflict with each other.I prefer cablenut. The broadband test shows your RWIN as 512000 .The 256960 is a multiple of 1460 like the tcpip analyzer test at speeguide.net .See what that test detects your RWIN as.

Ditto on what netmasta said PM CA3LE .

I did he told me about Kathy only interesting thing Frank refered to Kathy as a he.

php I have tried that before also same results.I just thought the progress bar would show approximately where the gap was.I will give it another try though. Edit Doing the test without the bar adds a gap when changing then has another gap while the test is running.I don't think this would affect a faster connection but shows up with dialup. Its not a real problem for me I just wanted to let testmy know.

disturbed Frank is a chat bot in the chat room. Frank won't tell me how many times he has been asked "are you smart"

I haven't had the problem in this topic.I have a different speed test problem. When I do a DL test I monitor it with MyVitalAgent .This usually shows a gap in the data sent once or twice in the test. But only from the testmy main server when I use a mirrorI don't get the gap.The screen shot below shows this look at the gap in the bar chart.

Thanks php most of the words I searched for were 4 letters or more.I thought it might have been the words themselves that were causing the problem. They weren't profanity which sometimes has asterisks .I thought racial slurs might have the asterisks also so the search wouldn't find them with all the letters & no asterisks.
-
I was just checking to see if Search has been changed some .Sometimes when I just put in one word I get this message:Your query was not specific enough. Try using larger words. Sometimes I am looking for the specific word & don't have a larger one. btw In this specific case I was looking to see if I had ever used any racist type names in my posts since another member (milchama) called me a bigot & made a KKK reference about posts I had made.I don't believe I have but wanted to make sure.

Nos7667 The steps below are from the MS article Swimmer posted.these are what it said to do if the Windows installation cd didn't work.I bet you could try these steps even without the cd if you don't have one. There is also a set of 5 cds for XP I have seen posted about before I think they are to use for recovery but they might have something on them that would help you. I have also read about using a windows 98 start up disk to go into DOS it is also available for download on the web.It is usually for a floppy but I don't see why you couldn't burn it to a cd. From what I have read XP doesn't really have DOS & really doesn't like using it.I think what it does use is a kind of virtual DOS.Someone can probably do a better job of explaining this than me. If the issue continues to occur, copy the Autoexec.nt and Config.nt files from the Repair folder in Windows to the System folder. To do so, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, type c:windowsrepair, and then click OK. 2. Right-click autoexec.nt, and then click Copy. 3. Click Start, click Run, type c:windowssystem32, and then click OK. 4. Right-click anywhere in that folder, and then click Paste. 5. Right-click the Autoexect.nt file that you just copied, and then click Properties. 6. Click to select Read-Only, and then click OK. 7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 to copy the Config.nt file. Note You must enable Read-Only permissions or the files will be removed after you restart Windows. command.com you might add this too since it is in the list of files to do if you have the cd.
