[move] HAPPY BIRTHDAY 69 RAT
-
69 RAT :Windows should detect & reinstall anything you delete. If you put in a driver for anything that did not use the one in windows but needed its own driver. You might want to make sure you have that driver on cd or floppy. In case deleting the hardware removes the driver.Otherwise windows should have the information to reinstall the hardware.I guess it might not if a file was corrupted that it needed. At this point you might try the suggestions I made in the quote below I know it isn't the key cak46 was talking about. But I still think it would be worth a try.

Looks right to me CAS Latency even matches the 128MB you had in your PC.Just a sugestion since you have 2 memory slots you could probably use the 128 MB too for a total of 640MB. I would put the new 512 in the # 1 slot so it the first RAM.

organ_shifter : Looks good their DL was too busy right now it said to try later.I checked & I don't think it will work on windows ME.Specs say 2000 up. -
billybob12345 : I think MYRIAGON explained the 133/266 problem.I found a couple of links at Dell .At least if you have a Dell Dimension 4500S.One is for memory sticks you can buy from Dell these match what we found at crucial, newegg & Kahlon. The other is the specs on the Dell Dimension 4500S. http://search.dell.com/results.aspx?cat=all&s=gen&c=us&l=en&cs=&k=Dell+Dimension+4500S+ http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim4500S/specs.htm?c=us&l=en&s=gen&cs=#1104273

billybob12345 & cak46 : All the PC2100 RAM I looked at said they were 266 I don't know why Everest detects it at 133MHz.The information at Micron Tech by part # even showed the old RAM stick should be 266MHz. billybob12345 Do you have any specs on your PC that says what speed your RAM runs at?

testmyisgreat :Spybot S&D is supposed to remove the TIBS dialer according to their site. Aparrently TIBS is a dialer that you need to get out of you OS.You need to call you phone company that your dialup is through & see if you are making high cost calls through this dialer. this is something you should do immeadiatly. There is all kinds of information on removing the dialer I really don't know what is correct. But I am including somethings I think might work. billybob12345 : I went to Micron Technology the company that manufactured the RAM you now have & searched the part number.I copied it & I will paste the information below.I also copied their comparible 512MB & specs on it.The had a buy button but when I tried it it just gave links to their retailers. It looks to me like the RAM you found is correct but the information I found is in even more detail so it should help you compare 4512D6C5h Micron Tech. 8VddT1664AG-265B1 MT8VDDT1664AG-265 Overview Part List & Data Sheets Technical Notes Specifications Density: 128MB Pin Count: 184-pin Version: Unbuffered Package: DIMM Speed: PC2100 Configuration: 16 Meg x 64 Data Rate 266 MT/s CAS Latency: 2.5 Votage: 2.5V Component Config: 16 Meg x 8 ECC: Non ECC Module Ranks Single Rank Package Type Lead Plated Component Count: 8 Part Status: Production MT8VDDT1664AG-265 16 Meg x 64, 8 Components per Module Part Number Notes Speed Config Data Rate Latency Voltage Comp. billybob12345: The pc2100 memory in your system is 133MHz the memory found at Kahlon is pc2100 (266MHz) .If the memory you have in now is the original I think you will need to replace it with a 133MHz .I will look at your other topic & see what newegg suggested if its posted there

testmyisgreat: I will have to see if I can find something on the tibs problem. It looks like a virus so its a system problem.I can usually help with tweaking dial-up.So I will see what I can find & edit I don't know if you can even stay connected long enough to download the 2 programs I am going to suggest. If you can DL them & use them as suggested below. You need to disable your System Restore before going to safe mode the virus may be hiding there if you disable System Restore Your antivirus should get rid of it in safe mode. With it disabled the virus that may be in system restore will be gone. Then run your antispyware in safe mode at the same time.Do this even if you can't DL the 2 programs I suggested. Then reboot into normal & see if you can connect & stay connected without the tib showing up. First you need two programs(freeware) you can download they are Stinger &CW Shredder.then start your system in safe mode. All this will be done in safe mode.Run your AV let it clean what it can,run CW Shredder,Run Stinger, then run your anti spyware program clean what it finds.Restart your PC to normal mode run your AV program to see if it finds any more viruses . http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ http://www.intermute.com/products/cwshredder.html

billybob12345 : I like the kahlon site to find memory.I am going to put a screenshot of my memory chips as shown by everest to let you see the type information it gives you on what you already have in your system. It will show the full details on all the memory chips but there was only room for 1 on the screen shot.

coknuck : You're welcome I have to do some web surfing on XP since I don't have it .Maybe by the time I get it I will know something about it.I had to sift through some bad information while finding the links I posted( or at least it looked like bad information to me.) VampireXxX : I still think you need to find why Spybot is using up your virtual memory & can't complete. Not so much so you can run spybot because it sounds like your pretty protected from spyware. But because it shows you don't have enough virtual memory & thats probably just a matter of getting it set correctly.Unless your hard drive is completely full. It is probably close to running out all the time & this will affect your performance in other areas. So you need to find out why it is so low.

billybob12345 Do the search at kahlon I like their search better.See what they say you should have then compare prices with newegg.Kahlon does not always have the best prices. Did you ever get Everest to help you Identify what you already have? http://www.kahlon.com/

VampireXxX ; Sorry the 1.3 didn't help .Are you trying to run in MS DOS or safe mode .You should try to run these in safe mode not msdos.I don't have XP I have ME I think your virtual memory settings are

LilAznHobo & technoia I've used the dslreports test before. It shows my distance at 16500 feet But I called my phone company & they say my line is 26600 feet to far for dsl.I beleive the phone company gave me the correct distance. So I would call the phone company that your dsl service will run through & find out the distance they say it is.

Jules : Here are some dial-up tweaks.Do you have a Telnet you can run a data line quality test to? I put one in a link below but I doubt it will work from Australia.Jusst keep calling your phone company until you get a good tech I talked to several at mine before I found 1 that knew about this test. Most run the standard line quality test.If you can run this one it will tell you what your noise level is.You also should make sure you have a good ground rod that you ground your NID(network interface device) to.Thats the box on the outside of your house.New phone cable inside the house & new phone jacks can lower noise.like cat3 or cat5 there are even sheilded cables if you have a lot of interference from electrical devices in your home. Download & install Cablenut;use the ccs file for your OS & connection. I make these adjustments to Cablenut for a custom dial-up file if it doesn't make yours work better you can use the ones that it puts in automatically. On the RWIN use the one of the settings suggested by TCPIP analyzer for RWIN based on MSS & enable windows scaling. On my Cablenut this is Tcp1323Opts set to 1. Check your system at https://www.speedguide.net/ . Select the TCPIP analyzer. If it shows your MTU other than 1500 or your MSS other than 1460 you need to change it to these. I will add this some dial-up's work better with MTU = 576 MSS = 536 so you can try these too if the larger settings slow you down. You can't make these with Cablenut .I do mine in the registry so I can't tell you how to do it in XP registry. If you have a program that adjusts your MTU &MSS use it. In My Computer go to dial-up networking R.click on your connection select properties. This may be different in XP I will give you the way I do it in ME P probably has the same settings they may be located a little differently. GeneralConfigure on the dial-up modem you are usingmaximum speed to 115200.connectionport settingsset your FIFO Buffers to maximum.advanced error control should be checked, compressed data should be checked, use flow control should be checked, Then it depends on the dial-up modem you have Check hardware for an external dial-up modem or an internal with on board controller,Check software for an internal modem that uses the CPU for its controller(this is the majority of internal modems also called winmodems.) For extra settings try W3;S10=50;S25=100 these depend on your specific modem but these work for several. W3 makes the modem report DCE speed instead of DTE speed.S10=50 is a hangup delay that helps keep you connected.Try these last sometimes the ISP won't connect with the extra settings & you have to take them out. Back to the General tab if the phone number you use for dial-up is in the same area code as you are uncheck the use area code box.In the networking tab under advanced options check enable software compression & under allowed network protocols uncheck everything but TCP|IP unless your dial-up uses one of the others to connect. . Open your registry (start - run - type regedit) and change the following registry entries: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesClassNet000X (where X is a number between 1 and 9)there is a value named SLOWNET, change it from 01 to 00. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesVxDCOMBUFF it has a value called Start, change its value from 00 to 01. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesVxDVCACHE, it has a value named Start, change it from 00 to 01. The last 2 are controversial whether the help or not they usually don't hurt performance & sometimes help. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetContro lPriorityControl (if PriorityControl is not there, make the value) - on the right hand side right click and select new DWORD value, name it IrqXPriority (X = Irq assigned to your modem), then right click it and select modify and give it a decimal value of 1. 9. Open your sys.ini file (start - run -sysedit - ME type system.ini) close the boxes until you are at the one with the title C:WINDOWSSYSTEM.INI, under [386enh] add the line ComXXIrqXXbuffer=4096, XX=Com port your modem is on and Irq assigned to your modem, it should look like Com03Irq07buffer=4096. Then select file - save and reboot to take effect. You can check these 2 links they are for 98 or ME you may need the patch in one of them to enable windows scaling. https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=1772.0 https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=1633.0

FallowEarth& coknuck; I have Ad-Aware build 1.06r1 the latest & no problems.I plan to update the Spybot S&D again I just thought I would give them some time & it could have just been a bad DL for some reason.I know I have updated it at least 3 times before with no problems. Most of the time Spybot doesn't find anything in my system & all Ad-Aware finds is a few negligable objects these are just low security risk MRU's.I give Spyware Blaster a lot of credit for keeping spyware out.So I'm sure I'm safe to wait & update again later.
-
FallowEarth sometimes it would freeze my OS & I would have to do a hard shutdown.I thought I would try it again in a couple of months & see if it would work better.Probably just something in it that didn't agree with Windows ME.The definitions are the same in 1.3 at least for now.I have adaware by Lavasoft too as well as Spyware Blaster & Sygate firewall so nothing is getting in anyway.
-
VampireXxX I had a few problems with the new version of spybot .Version 1.4 I went back to 1.3 for now it works much better for me.If you have the 1.4 version DL the 1.3 try it after you uninstall 1.4 & reboot. Almost any of the antispyware programs should run in safe mode if they don't then something is wrong with the software sometimes its just the DL got corrupted while you were downloading it.Or you installed it with a program running it didn't agree with.Anytime you install any new program its a good idea to shut as many programs down as you can & your OS still operate.

cak46 I tried to PM you but it didn't show up in my outbox. So I thought I would put some of what I thought here so 99 RAT could look at it. I believe you are on the right track with the passwords & keys.99RAT do you have the correct key for your XP Home? You may have to make sure that's in your OS then an administrator password for the XP Home. Then the right key for the XP Pro probably the same administrator password.I think both keys will be necessary because the XP Pro was an update type install. That should get you permission to do what you want to in your OS. The problem started with 99RAT installing Silent Hunter 3 the result was a partial bad install. Thats when the Lsass.exe error message started.Probably because the install was attempted with the user password so it didn't have permission to do a complete install for things that required administrator permission. The uninstall was probably tried the same way.So it was incomplete also.Parts of Silent Hunter 3 are probably still in 99RAT's OS. What I would try once you're sure all keys are in the OS & you have administrator level access. Is install Silent Hunter 3 with administrator password;reboot & then uninstall it;reboot.See if the error stops. If it doesn't try the install & uninstall 2 or 3 times(rebooting in between) to see if it will remove all of the Silent Hunter 3. If it does then you can install Silent Hunter 3 with the administrator password & see if the error shows back up.
