  1. Quick question for the experts: How important is it to have the insulating foam around the 3 foot section of pipe outside of my house from the AC unit to the wall? I have none right now, but it is insulated on the inside of the house. I live in Nebraska, USA, we have hot humid summers here. Thanks-
  2. You know, it could be someone we know, since he probably would not admit to just anyone how badly he takes advantage of people.
  3. It looks like you have to be a YahooPlus member (pay service) in order to get to your full size photos. Click here for an explanation. I never knew this. I have a bunch of hunting photos I uploaded not knowing this size thing would be an issue. I assumed they were safe there. I guess that was buried in the small print somewhere. I need to stop using the letter I.....
  4. What a crock of crap. OK, so I am in Walmart the other day and see an OK Compaq notebook for $798. Didn't look too bad for the price. Let's compare: Blue Hippo (shit-hole): $149.99 + 49.99 * 13 weeks = $779.86 (the cost just to have the POS delivered) Then add on the 39 weeks * 49.99 = 1949.61 + 779.86 = 2729.47 (Holy F%$K, but don't forget the taxes. Where I live = 7%. This = $2920 total) Walmart Compaq I saw = $798.00 (+ freakin' tax of course) Here is the link to compare (although it looks like it is now out of stock) http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4532526 Specs are not the best; but a hell of a lot better than Blue Hippo. I know we can find even better deals, but the WallyMart one just came to mind. So, people out there, just save that $50 a week for a few and screw Blue Hippo like everyone here says.

Thanks, amc11890, I posted an example the other day above. I just used a talk show that I recorded the audio from for legal reasons and inserted tones with Audacity. It was quite easy.
  6. Hey Noobz, try this speed test located in Singapore. May help determine if your slow speed issue is local. http://www.pacific.net.sg/customer/Technical Support/Technical/Connection Tester/ I pulled 1733kbps from the USA. Welcome to the forum, btw.
  7. It's good to hear from someone who is satisfied with VoIP over Satellite. I believe latency is "officially" annoying at around 200-250ms. I have talked on the sat phone to my brother in BFE Canada a few times, the latency was noticeable, but tolerable. But for home phone service I would stick to a land line personally.
  8. Welcome to the forum sirus05 Below are a few things you can try. Follow the guides in the threads. Start here: http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-2097 A conglomeration of many great tips: http://www.testmy.net/topic-1013

Audacity (once again) would work well, and is free. I took a sample from a talk show (cuz I couldn't think of any other audio to legally to post here) and used Audacity to record, edit and insert the bleep tones. Actually it was quite easy. It is Ellen and Rebecca Romijn talking about their "bleeps". (don't give me crap about The Ellen Show, I stopped because I saw Rebecca Romijn: I like her bleeps )
  11. OK, CA3LE, the best help yet............but not enough. Clown hair didn't quite cut it, lol. cholla you say she is on a weekly series? Let me think some...
  12. Hmm, is it the bald chick who worshipped V Ger in Star Trek The Motion Picture? LOL Not Nattalie Portman who recently buzzed her head... Maybe a Dixie Chick (They suck, so I hope they all shave their heads)..... Good one cholla. edit: After looking at Dixie Chick photo's, it could be one of them.....dern bald women all look alike
  13. Welcome to the forum pheoxs! You are doing a good duty with your unused pc resources...
  14. Did you figure out the exact model of card yet? Do you run XP? Try going to start-run and typing dxdiag. Look under the display tab. The Direct X diag should tell you the exact make and model and chip set of the card.
  15. Do you have 2 separate phone lines to your home with 2 separate phone numbers? Or do you mean that you have 2 phone jacks or outlets. If you only have 1 phone number, then you can't use 2 modems (as far as I know, anyway).
  16. I just realized that there are like 30 more members Folding now than there was a couple months ago. Good job TMN members!! (And maybe even some non-members that joined the TMN F@H team; thanks)
  17. Upload went thru twice as fast as download. I watched AnalogX Netstat Live during tranfser, and it was showing 300-500kbps down, and 1000-1100kbps up (which is what my upload speed is). ftp> Connected to thegamer.serveftp.com. open thegamer.serveftp.com 220-GuildFTPd FTP Server © 1997-2002 220-Version 0.999.13 220 Please enter your name: User (thegamer.serveftp.com:(none)): 331 User name okay, Need password. 230 User logged in. ftp> Local directory now C:. ftp> lcd C: get 5MB 200 PORT command successful. 150 Opening ascii mode data connection for /5MB (5374161 bytes). 226 Transfer complete. 5374161 bytes in 113 sec. 19. I have heard the same thing about Cox LV . Hopefully they will get with it some day.
  20. Your levels look very good. Receive level right around 0dBmV which is optimum. You just may have a congestion problem as you were implying.
  21. Maybe your RX level is borderline bad. Post your signal levels (if you have a Moto modem or other modem that allows you to view diagnostics). Try this: http://192.168.100.1 If It's a Motorola modem, look under "Signal" tab.
  22. The concept is very good. Like every one else says: You might sell a few if they weren't so ugly. Remember the Renault - lol - gone with the rest of the ugly 80's cars. I think an American auto co is working on something similar. I believe someone here posted it, it could use your momentum to recharge the tanks - meaning when you were slowing down, or coasting down a hill, it put this wasted energy back into the tanks.
  23. I'm with FallowEarth-Big jump in latency. Bad modem? Bad NIC card? Bad CAT5 cable? Bad line? Try pinging TestMy.net and post the results back here. Or you can run php's little bach file from here. Run the executable and it will do some ping test for you, post results back here.
  24. You know you miss the long days trying to stay awake on a hangover. I guess if I didn't always have that hangover I would have probably gotten a degree. Hindsight is 20/20.
