  1. I'm not 100% sure what you mean. Are you trying to transfer one whole drive to another? Each IDE or SATA controller (primary secondary) can only have one master and one slave per controller.
  2. "According to the FAQ, if you are using MCE you need to have "Update Rollup 2" installed. Whether or not that's the same as SP2, I don't know, since I don't use MCE.
  3. I remember the dos shell too. I had a packard bell too. It had a super fast 2400baud modem. xD This was with "Prodigy Classic. [pre]Modem 2400 (V.22bis) 2.4 kbit/s 240 B/s[/pre] Source: Wikipedia. Oh, and you had to "park" the HDD before turning of the computer
  4. On a related idea I think it would be cool if we had some sort of database with everyone's computer specs, so we could see what the "avarage" is.
  5. Is it still common for laptops to have 5400RPM HDD's? Seems to me that we should be past that now.
  6. I'm bored right now, so I'm playing around with some online Sign generators.
  7. Yea, that's part of M$'$ Microsoft Support Lifecycle (10/2002). You can read more about it here and here.
  8. Welcome to the forums, jstein. Try reading the two posts in my sig for some help. Have you installed any new software or hardware right around when you noticed the speed drop?
  9. That's different. That stops sounds/music that is embedded in web pages from playing.
  10. Nvidia does too. Not all onboard cards have them, which is not supprising.
  11. You could check each computer's nic and make sure that they're not set to 10/100 Auto (detect). Some router/nic combo's don't seem to work well with the auto detection.
  12. I second that. Besides, we're free. You have to pay for books.
  13. I know there is no modem, but can the ONT, the FIOS "modem" be rebooted? That's what I meant to say. Sorry I didn't make it clearer.
  14. I don't exactly know how it works on FIOS, but I have cable and you have to reset the modem if you are changing the device that is connected directly to your service. The modem can tell when your mac address changes, and requires a new IP for each MAC. Is there a way to "reset: your connection, possibly? You may just have to "activate" the router's mac address.
  15. I found an article about it here. Burn-in on an LCD is called Image persistence. It doesn't seem, from reading the article that it happens often.
  16. Maximum transmission unit (Wikipedia)
  17. xD I love that video. Truthfully though, that's how I felt about the SNES.
  18. If it's just a couple of sites and you know the url's, then you could block the sites via the hosts file. In XP %windir%system32driversetchosts Ex: since 127.0.0.1 points to nowhere the site wouldn't work.

  20. I had a feeling that's what you meant. Interesting solution never the less.
  21. ATX is a motherboard formfactor stanmdard.. All mfrs.design their motherboards around a set of rules. Such as what part of the mobo the CPU goes in or where the mouse/keyboard connectors are on the back of the computer. There are a few different sizes, like micro ATX and standard ATX.
  22. I have that exact one, the 500W. I've only had it for a couple of months, but haz had no problems with it at all. A power supply is one part of your computer where you don't want to go cheap.
