  1. This topic has been moved to Verizon Online. [iurl]https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=6261.0[/iurl]
  2. Have you tried testing with a larger test yet? Try the 2992Kb test. Some connections are to fas to be accuratly measured with the smaller file sizes.
  3. Lol. They make good points about it being the best pr0n browser.
  4. Testmy.net beats bandwidth tester any day. Anyway, I would highly recommend the Adblock extention. You can block just about any ad with it, even flash ads. I also use Forcast Fox and the Yahoo! toolbar.
  5. You should also check your modem signal levels. Go to http://192.168.100.1/, and look for a signal page. Generally your Downstream power level should be between -15 dBmV and 15 dBmV. Your upstream power level shouldn't be much higher that 55dBmV. I have a Motorola SB4220, so your levels may be a little different. You should also make sure that your SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) is above 30. If anything doesn't seem right, first check and make sure all of your connections are tight.

    "Truer words" Ok, I'm done.
  7. It seems very interesting. I hope they release more video demos soon.
  8. Before anyone starts any rumors, I think he means the 6Mb plan
  9. I know from experience, make sure the connectors match the cables! e.g.: rg-6 cable and rg-6 connectors. They are not interchangeable with other sizes. Luckily I have a Radioshack less than 5 Min's. from my house. Also, I don't know if you've done cable rewiring before, if not, be patient, sometimes the connectors can be hard to get on just right, unless you use on of those fancy cable company tools, that is. edit: spelling
  10. I've used ZA since I first got broadband. I agree with Mactron, you have to "train" Zone Alarm, so it knows which programs should always allow internet access, always ask, or not allow access. If you want a highly secure computer, it's worth it.
  11. I don't know what site it is either. But I have been to similar sites before. You create a fake (insert crime/love letter/etc. here), then have it e-mailed to your (possibly soon ex- ) friend.
  12. I think he's playing Xbox Live. Ya can't change that ethernet card.
  13. That might take a while, considering a lot (I'm not sure what %) would have to buy/rent new Docsis 3 compatible modems.
  14. I had to read that post twice to see that it was edited. I saw the link was testmy.net and thought, lol

Also, I almost forgot Ebaum's World That site has tons of vides, flash games and more.
  16. But, for how long will they be able to do "better"? Coax (cable) uses radio signals wheras FIOS uses light, which is pretty hard to beat.

You could view movie trailers online. Some of those files are big. Yahoo! movies and apple.com trailers are good sites to check out. Apple especially has high quality trailers, even though they're not in full screen.

I'm all set with the cookies issue. I use FF and have it ask me every time, unless I trust the site, like Yahoo! for example. I also use Spybot S&D and Adaware.
  19. I got this tip from a PC Pitstop E-mail: "Windows XP speeds up boot time using information that it keeps in the Prefetch folder under the Windows folder (usually this is C:WindowsPrefetch on most PCs). Over time as many programs are installed and removed, the prefetch information can actually hurt performance. If your startup times are lagging, you can delete the .pf files in the Prefetch folder and Windows XP will rebuild them as needed. While you're cleaning, it's a good time to empty the Recycle Bin, clear your IE cache, and defrag the drive for best performance." I tried it and it seems to work pretty good. Of course I was also deleting some start-up items at the same time. I'm down to about 170MB at startup.

Sounds basicly like a proxy server to me Companies can still trace you through cookies, even if you do use a service like this.
  21. Cable has the potential to go pretty fast too. Docsis (the technology) can current support downloads up to 38Mb/sec I'm not sure of the speeds for Docsis 3.0 More info about Dosis at:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DOCSIS
  22. It has 4 stickers on it with the mac addr.,part No., serial No. and some GI NO. Since the modem is rented, I'll just leave them there "just in case". They never told me what to do with them.
  23. I have a question, did she recently drop the laptop (it happens often). If so a connection or stick of memory may be loose.
  24. None here. They're illegal here in MA. A store from NH, still sends us an ad every year though.
  25. Welcome to the forums, D4rk.3y35 Those speed look pretty good.
