Downloading is receiving of data - upload is sending of data. Download is faster because a good portion of people using the internet download more than they upload. Everything you do, from checking an email, to watching a youtube video, to just browsing the web is 90% download - with a very small portion of upload simply to acknowledge the data between the 2 points. Unless your like me, a share whore on p2p programs as well as others in the house working from home , using virtual private networks, extremely high upload speeds arent necessary. For the people who need upload more than download, again like myself, we get shafted on the price.

i've seen the same. TMN once told me i was posting from a directnet ip, which is sat. I;ve never even tried satalite internet before ;p

I agree, but for the money an i5 isn't a bad option. My xps has has an i5 in w. power boost & I've yet to strain that lil guy. Again that is depending on what your doing with it. i have the i7 in the desktop & the i5 in the lappy, seems to work well for me lol. Personally tho, if i had the choice i would go with an Asus laptop.

Ya & the weird part is, that ip isn't even registered to a website or anything.. just a main china backbone. thinking about it i think their may have just been a glitch in Ebay's IP region detection. Still, wouldn't take too much concern to it unless this arises again.

Sorry to hear your falling to the liberal side. As many problems as windows based PC's may have, ill never switch to the apple. with the addition of the new SSD drive and a good version of windows 7 ultimate, all is smooth sailings for then next 3-4 years. Fuck windows 8 BTW. Phail of the year.

But like "sirdir", the creator of this thread... with Verizon fios, i TOO have to multithread to get my maximum speeds. and no, i'm not talking about the results that it gives me at the end i pretty colors and visuals. I do know how to accurately monitor & measure my speeds on a real-time basis. When i am downloading a 1.3 GB file , and i see that it ended at "9.62 Mbit/s" i know that is what 'im downloading at. Their is no amount of overhead or "burst" that is going to last over a gig's worth of download time. tesmy.net's system as well as various NDT servers give me terrible , awful results. - correction, well now that D implemented the multithreading i can NOW max out my connection. But as the thread starter said, multithread is the only way i can achieve my max connection potential. Also proven in DC++. Maybe not so much a "problem", but the ISP's intentions for some ungodly-irritating reason?

I like the multithread alos, i know Verizon is bandwidth shaping- I use dc++ to share files. i usualy am part of 10 or more hubs at a time with 40 upload slots available. If a user is getting a file from me its usually between 200 and 900 kbs. if that user happens to be in , lets say 6 other hubs that im ALSO in, they will have access to 6 of my slots. in which they now have 6 uploads coming from me at 200 -900 kbs each slot. Verizon will not allow me to max my upload to 1 user unless in multiple streams.

Sup guys. been a while since i posted some results - so i think im gunna! This is Verizon FIOS 75/35 in Sarasota Florida - on the new Gigabit Actiontech 802.11 wireless"N" w/ "Performance Mode". - On a side note, normally i would never post competators speed test results, but i have come to notice that verizon, although give incredible speeds, will throttle certin types of data unless being pulled by multiple streams. The first pic i post wll explain what i mean. 2 differet speedtests, comming from the same host - one with a single stream , one with multiple pull streams. For this reason i will be posting an array of results from different locations across the country to give a fair and unbiased result stack.

It only happens randomly. I tested on this particular server 10 times and maybe 4 of them were in the 41mb/s range, the others looked like the one i posted.I only brought it up as a suggestion to look into , but if its easier to blame my routing than im good with that. Must have been bad routing to this one server out of the 12 servers or so i also tested to confirm. Thanks for the generic answer and i mean no disrespect to you ca3le, but ive done this for a while and wouldnt bring it up just for shiggles and gitts. Address it as you will. Cheers! Both tests within seconds of eachother - Low ping = 3 High(est) server hop ping = 47
