  1. Happy Birthday VanBuren!!! <img src="http://www.imgag.com/product/full/ap/3032196/bunncp.gif">
  2. That's a big laptop dude. That 17" display is huge and really nice, but you might find the computer a bit bulky at times.
  3. You should be able to access your BIOS setup during the boot sequence. It is usually available during the first screen you see when you power up your PC. It will usually say "Press [key] to enter setup." Once you're in, just take a look around and find the setting.
  4. No harm in trying. I would just be sure to back up your registry settings before you tweak. Check out our tweak guide: http://www.testmy.net/topic-1013
  5. Ever see the movie "The Machinist"?
  6. I did the 72 hour thing once, just to see what it was like. I don't remember if i actually hallucinated or not, or if I did, whether it was due to exhaustion or substance abuse, but I do remember that when I finally got to sleep (it seems to get harder to sleep the longer you're awake), I slept for more than 24 hours. Not a good idea if you're on a schedule.
  7. Pretty close, Crazy_17 (Welcome!). Have you tried testing from a mirror server (try at least 3 tests): http://www.testmy.net/tools/mirrors.php
  8. That is just a beautiful thing, right there. I like seeing somebody getting the speeds that they are paying for. Very nice, mikmike.
  9. Welcome to the forum, xOpenYourEyesx
  10. Sounds like maybe a loose connection or bad cable/tape somewhere. Could be that your hardware is going too (HDD, PSU, Mobo, etc). If it is noticably hot in your tower, try leaving the side off for a while, if it comes off. Otherwise, clean out your fans with a can of air and make sure they are spinning properly.
  11. [from the STICKY] Please run this test and this ping and trace program. Are you using a router? Clean your system of spyware. Try this online scan (Win 2K/XP only): www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan Temporarily disable all non-system-critical software in order to accurately test your speed. The best way to do this is to disable them from startup and reboot your PC. Software indicated includes: Firewall, Antivirus, Antispyware, Instant Messenger, Peer-to-Peer applications, Torrent clients, System Diagnostic Software, Bandwidth/Download Managers, Browser Toolbars/Extensions, Updaters, etc. Download and install Cablenut. Once it is installed, try some of the custom files I have attached, check out VanBuren's whole collection, or create your own. After each time you open a file, click "Save to registry" in the adjuster window, reboot your computer to apply the changes, and try another speedtest. Be sure to keep your software configuration the same, and test from the same mirror, in order to keep your results as accurate as possible.
  12. Dude, it doesn't even look like you went here!: http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-2097
  13. Dude, you can totally bump that up a bit. Check it out: http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-2097 post back as shown with the results, and we'll help ya out Also try testing from different mirrors: http://www.testmy.net/tools/mirrors.php

  15. Windows updates? You can tick the box "Show updates" in Add/Remove Programs. Otherwise, it looks to me like a problem with the software you are using, MyPhoneExplorer. If a rip/reinstall of that software doesn't fix the issue, try another software like it. There's gotta be some.
  16. Mine is great! I'm totally impressed with it, and I love it so much. I haven't run into a problem yet. Just been installing different software to see how it handles it. Also, I was downloading way over cap the other day over wireless, about 40ft and one floor above my router (gotta love that). I'm bound to format the OEM OS, and do a dual boot XP/Linux. Just gotta find the time and ambition! My lappy is still a pretty good size. I dunno the exact weight, but I don't think 7 lbs. I would gues 4 or 5 maybe. BTW that sony is pretty crazy lookin. Kinda resembles a PSP.
  17. Got a router? Done any software updates? Is your monitor on?
  18. I believe it. I would not want to wage an e-war with China and North Korea. Talk about walking into an ass-kicking.
  19. I agree with what Swimmer has advised here. I would just like to reiterate a couple points on the switch: [*]keep in mind that (most) switches do not route by IP (no NAT present), but by MAC, so you if you are connecting the switch to the modem, you'll need a unique IP lease for each device on it. [*]check whether the ports on your switch are crossed or not; this will determine whether you will use a cross-over or straight-through cat5 cable [*]check the duplexing on the switch (half vs. full) [/html]
  20. Tommie Gorman, I believe that j-vall must be referring to the Sticky on the Make It Faster board: [LINK]. This topic has been compiled by one of our most senior technical members, and it is regularly updated in order to provide you with the most accurate and efficient results in tweaking your PC for optimal network performance. Check it out!
  21. Start >> Run >> MSCONFIG The Startup tab in the System Configuration utility will allow you to disable the OEM software from starting when windows loads. (Reference to www.processlibrary.com if you don't know what the processes are). From there, Add/Remove Programs from control panel should allow you to delete most of the stuff you don't need. From my experience with laptops, they seem to load up a bunch of useless crap that sounds important but really is not necessary whatsoever. Get rid of the unnecessary stuff and you'll be doing your computer a favour.
  22. Video drivers intact? Try these two scans: http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx http://www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan/
  23. It's a long route, but the times are good.
  24. Are you in safe mode?
