  1. anox195, it sounds like it could be on RR's end, so you may be interested in giving them a call. i wonder though what your modem levels look like. try hitting the modem diagnostic page in your browser: http://192.168.100.1 If you can hit that, check out your signals and levels and post em back here.
  2. So here's the thing. From my interpretation of the story, she did absolutely nothing wrong....she went along with the rules, she fit the standards, she played the part of the normal customer.... But she got f***ed in the end by the big monster, Mr. Corporate Business CEO Who Determines And/Or Approves All Company Policies & Procedures. We (as the individual/citizen) have become such a minimal unit (less than pawns) that at the end of all things we no longer matter. If they don't fit within the company's planned-for contingency scenerios, our concerns are simply made to not exist at all. Why? No further explanation than that it's bad for business! Who is responsible for this disaster?
  3. If email and browsing are affected, and you know your speeds are good, it sounds like software trouble. You may want to clean your computer as a first step. Try a spyware scan, virus scan, and ccleaner.
  4. Wow, Sequoia. That's some good info. Thank you for sharing. I'm not exactly sure what you are looking for when you are saying: But if you are looking for something that displays your packet send information from an external view, THIS TEST is the closest that I know of. You may be able to do some calculations from the data displayed to find what you're looking for.

  11. To both members -- Just out of curiosity, you may want to connect directly to your modem (bypass your router) and run another traceroute to the same site. A lot of the time a factor in your home network can be a problem: network cable, wireless interference, driver issue, etc. Making a direct connection is a good first step in determining if this is the case. If you have connected directly to the modem (powercycle your modem as a first step ALWAYS!) and the problem persists, you may want to contact your ISP tech support. A lot of the time, they can run a packet loss test from the ISP network to your modem to see if there is packet loss there. Post back with any updates.
  12. What kind of wireless card do you have? Have you tried updating the drivers from the manufacturer's website?
  13. I was put on a steroid (prednisone, I believe) for a bad case of poison ivy once. With the help of about 17 bottles of calamine, it cleared right up in a week.

  15. It's been a while, but you should be able to boot to the OS disk and reset it. Try this: http://www.askdavetaylor.com/how_do_i_reset_my_mac_os_x_admin_root_password.html
  16. A+ is a great first cert, and a great way to get your foot in the door. The other CompTIA certs are good as well, but A+ is most commonly saught after by employers, I find. My advice, keep it up and get as many certs as you can. Remember, when it comes down to it, and employer will usually pick the person with the cert over the person without one.
  17. Be sure to check the sticky on the Make It Faster board: [sTICKY] STOP! Before you post your problems read this!

  19. Hi Sachin! Sounds like it might be a hardware or signal problem. First of all, can you provide the make and model name of your modem? Also, try logging into the modem spec site in your browser -- 192.168.100.1 -- and copy and paste all that good stuff here.
  20. I just noticed -- now you can toggle "Street View" and "Traffic" at Google Maps.
  21. :haha: I'm a little Michael fan too I relation to this topic.....I have no idea. I likely announced it in a post ("BTW THIS IS MY 1000TH POST !!!!!11!!!!1!!), but I have no clue when that was.
  22. Have you tried connecting either PC directly to the modem by ethernet? It's quite possible that the router is bringing your speed down, and that's really the only way to tell. Be sure to powercycle the modem when you remove the router. Then run another speedtest to show us a before and after.
