  1. I can definately see a router issue with the VPN pass through being disabled for example. Most routers have the option of blocking VPN traffic. But the webpage - are you using port 80 from your home, or do you have it mapped through a different port? If you did not route your webpage through a different port, one that may be blocked by your work router by default, then it should work. Strange. Can you access the admin settings of your work router? edit: Added screenshot from my DI-524. VPN was disabled by default - had to enable to connect to my work.
  2. Can you ping your home IP address from work and vice versa? I am guessing not. Who are your home and your work ISP's?
  3. Happy New Year again everyone!!! Can't believe my 3 year old slept thru the artillery - man it was loud.
  4. Sorry should have been more clear; I wasn't referring to your current prescription drug level. :haha: I meant the receive level which is the '7 dBmv' reading from your diag page. If the plant or mainline levels are hot on your run, then the colder periods could be putting one or more of the amplifiers over the edge and that will cause distortions in the signals. This may be the case, but not the only possibility.
  5. Happy New Year, Van. GMT - 6 here; 6:19 to go. In case your curious: http://www.timeanddate.com/counters/newyear.html edit: added link
  6. That is quite a swing from 39-32 even with the cold temps. RF levels actually increase when it is colder out because there is less attenuation when the cables are cold. And the cables are physically shorter when there cold - you may notice power/telephone/cable lines droop down low on a hot day - on a cold day there tight as a piano string. It still should not affect your downloads much even when it drops to 32dB. What is your Rx level?
  7. Actually both numbers are very good readings, and there would be no difference in performance. The minimum downstream SNR for good performance in 256QAM is 32dB.
  8. VanBuren is the man!!! Welcome to the forum ukphil - speeds look much better.
  9. Merry Christmas all! :icon_santa:
  10. I am just sitting on 100 Gmail invites. So if any one else wants one, PM me with your email address; be glad to send a bunch out.
  11. Have you tried another ethernet cord? Be sure it is NOT a crossover cable (hold the 2 ends side by side and the colors should be in the same order) With this I am assuming that you do not have a router, do you?
  12. Is your NIC set at 100mbps? If so, try changing to auto; RCA modem probably has a 10mbps ethernet port.
  13. Not bad, Heck of alot better than dial up- What part of MN are you in?
  14. 627 kB/s = 627 kB/s is 5136.38 Kbps Or 5.14 Mbps ::: 0.61 MB/sec Download 254 kB/s = 264 kB/s is 2162.69 Kbps Or 2.16 Mbps ::: 0.26 MB/sec Upload I am assuming that you are seeing speeds in kB(byte)/s which would be very close to the speeds you are seeing from the other web site. Either way, 5/2+ is a great speed.
  15. I missed your question the first time. The tracert function can be used to determine where a problem may be in a route between IP devices. Yours looks pretty good, there is a router with high ping times, but I would not worry. You may try it again and it may be just fine. Here is a good definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracert

Took me 3 or 4 tries to get one tracert without a time-out. I get 16 hops, minus my router which is hop 1 = 15 hops from the modem.
  20. You're right, Mel's Hole is the hole that has no bottom (allegedly). I think the last time I heard him on the show they were talking about dropping a microphone down there. That is curious about the images being blocked out.
  21. That guy was serious if he transcribed a 4 hour show. I think I would rather listen, though. How could someone transcribe those voices that came out of Mel's Hole in Washington state that Art used to have on allot. They were creepy.
  22. Wow, Midway is completely surrounded by neighborhoods. I never realized that before - never been through Midway.
  23. The plane is sitting at a Stop Light - How Ironic - Too early to make jokes, though. Snow is coming down pretty good there Pitbull-
  24. Could you imagine driving down the street and running into a jet? Hope all are OK.....
