sounds like one of your filters might be out of wack? I would try this.. Connect to the internet.. call you landphone from a mobile one... and just try different phones in the house. If you find that it is just one phone causing the problem replace the filter that phone..

welcome to the ISP world.. it is always going to be your fault.. it is just easier trust me.. The next time you call in ask them what their guidelines are for offering a refund or money for down time.. I know most ISP will not offer it unless you request it. If they keep hosing you then when you get some one on the phone ask for the manager.. I know comast is greater that 100ms?? or something like that on their local network or no service.. The deal with the techs is pretty standard.. they always want to sent someone else out.. It might be a signal issue.. but since you have already had someone out I am going to guess that it isnt.. What package are you on?

he should be fine.. however.. everything else he is going to be doing.. download, surfing, etc. is really not going to be that much fun.. Online gaming doesnt take all that much bandwidth on the upstream.. Hosting is a different story..

then why would you need an external drive? If it is to store personal stuff set up user accounts on the storage box.
-
why not just get an extra hard drive.. i saw some 200+ gb drives for under $50 this past weekend in the ads.. then set up a network share on a windows machine..

yeah pretty much.. i am still waiting for MS to "reinvent" the browser.. so far they have just followed whatever is sucessful in FF and transplanted into IE 7.. Maybe a unique IE 7 feature would be good..

depends on the manufacture.. However, about 99% of them come in parts.. Putting together a computer is not difficult! just takes some time and if you are new to it about 30 minutes of reading. tigerdirect is working for me..

not a problem.. that is the second 4300 that i know of from this forum that had to be RMA'ed.. I wonder if there is something going on with quality.. I am sure that the new one will be fine.

During my monthly fix the family computer time... I was asked to make MS outlook calendar word wrap. The only way that I was able to get it to do this was to restore the defaults.. Well low and behold everything just decided to delete itself.. Contact, inbox, folders, pop settings and the calendar.. This is more for a future reference than anything else.. but if you ever have a problem with your inbox dissappering or you deleted a message that you really needed.. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287497 Or you can pay $90 for a program that does the exact same thing. that should take care of it.. basically outlook logs everything into a database.. In my case i ran that program and nothing came up.. So I renamed the database to the current one, tricky naming by MS.. the old one was Outlook and the new one was Outlook1.. and presto chango I have everything back including spam!

if you disabled processes that zonealarm need running to make it work.. then you are going to have to enable those processes.. I would start with Com+.. I had a problem long ago when I disabled that service with zonealarm.. try that and see if it works.

That is the truth.. trying to get outlook/outlook express to do anything real useful is a task..

I would agree with the comments above.. unless you have hardware that is atleast 2 years old, not including wifi, and if the system isnt constantly changing.. linux can be a pain to keep up to date.. I am still very much in the learning mode with my linux set up.. but overall the experience has been a good one.. I am not installing anything on new hardware.. but still.. less than an hour to have an entire system formatted and running is great! Ahh yes.. live cds.. there are some really good ones out there.. auditor is one of my favs..

looks like you are running a tweaked version of windows.. did you disable some services? also do a search for vsmon.exe.. if that is still laying around from a previous install that could be causing the problem..
-

the reason that they are not going to offer money is for your exact reason.. People buy hundreds of drives at a time to put in the NAS and SAN boxes.. If you dont want the software.. that is up to you.. however, if WD thinks it is worth $30 then why not give it a try.. -

my guess is that someone tried to back up 80 gigs of disk space on to one of their external hard drives.. and it didnt work.. who knows i havent really looked into or read the case documents.. If I remember correctly they say that on the box about the conversion factor.. 1000 -> 1024
