  15. i think BTX is designed to blow in to the tunnel and then out the back.. if I remember the air moves into the front notch in the case.. past the heatpipes.. then out the back. so no hot air is introduced into the case from the power supply.. Might want to make sure that there is plenty of circulation in the back where that case sits.
  16. I would move the server excluding voip onto their own router/subnet.. Voip should be on the main switch/router.. That way you have max bandwidth to the nic and max client coverage without extra processing.. you are moving toward the modem and not having to lookup ip address on other routers for the location on the machine... Just make sure your firewall it pretty good on the server side..
  17. Pretty intersting considering IE 7 is beta 3.. It was last generated on July 8, 2006 based on an analysis of 1,022,601 distinct visits across 1,177 websites.

  21. looks like a BTX case... The entire design behind this case was to eliminate overheating of the prescott p4s... lol that is if this is a btx.. which to me it look like from the pictures.. The tech support guy would be correct.. you would void your warrenty if you mess with the cooling system.. as it is now part of "system".. I sounds like from what I have read it has a passive cooling system, on the processor, to begin with.. Heat pipes. You could do a few things.. I would look for a fan to replace the system fans that are pushing air through that tunnel.. something that move more cfp.. http://www.frozencpu.com/fan-22.html that should do the trick if you need a 120mm fan..
  22. Alright.. Let me some things straight.. The current setup is modem -> switch -> router -> rest of lan... There are a few problems with this setup.. Unless your ISP give you multiple IPs the switch should be moved behind the router. The reason for this is because the entire purpose or the router is to grant access using one IP to a network. There isnt really anything wrong with the setup but you wont be able to connect 15 other routers or other computers to the switch and expect it to work correctly. With this setup you will only have 1 connection to that switch.. so it could be a computer on the switch or a router. As the ISP monitors based on MAC address. You could try cloning them.. but that could also turn into a mess later down the road. you are running into the issue of only having one IP.. There are some other beifits of running your switch behind the router also.. You get the protection of the firewall that is on the router.. and you can apply QoS to the entire network.. (I am pretty sure that the linksys router you have can do QoS)
  23. http://www.cerberusftp.com/ i think we have a how-to/guide on this one.. I have yet to do a mail server...
24. I would start simple.. get an old box if you have one.. and get a file server up and running.. if you are using windows then the file/printer sharing options is a good way to go.. otherwise SAMBA for linux.. From there you can install IIS/apache for basic web serving.. and a FTP server.. Games are a different world.. you are going to be looking at some pretty good processing power, depending on the game, and a decent upload to be able to host on the internet..
  25. I would try to adjust the recieve window.. My 8600 wouldnt go over about 4mb at college.. adjusted that and it was up in the mid 20's Also check dells website for the latest drivers.. dont by any means use the ones that are included in windows xp!
