  1. I would say that the older IBM pre Lenovo are the best on the market if you are looking for a solid platform and work computer.. IBM has never been a gaming company and never will be since all pc related stuff is Lenovo.. The thing that shocks me is that last year they will selling laptops for over $1200 with only 256mb of ram in them..
  2. everything should play nice... Both the modem/router and the wifi card a IEEE certified. Might want to get the latest drivers for the laptop.. turn off wep.. and give that a try..

  5. Yeah the ibm touchpad.. did some research.. T30 in 2002 was the first IBM to have both the touchpad and the stick.. I would get an IBM but they are really expensive to upgrade..
  6. it is $300 if you get it through crucial.. I am surprised that they even have a 2 gig module for a laptop..
  7. that is what I was thinking.. I am going to go and look today..
  8. please just- I dont know anyone who would want to run games on something like that.. I was going to get it so that I had a Linux/Solaris machine to work on.. @ dlewis.. it is $479 at cc.com that is why i am intrested..
  9. sorry about the double post.. but has anyone tried or used this laptop? http://www.circuitcity.com/rpsm/oid/148733/rpem/ccd/productDetailSpecification.do#tabs
  10. I think you hit the maintaince time.. We had a db issue around 12pm EST on friday.. Everything should be back to normal by now.
  11. St. Velkro.. welcome to the forum! There are a few thing to take into consideration.. When you see the % after the test that is everyone on the entire site regardless of what package they have.. So if you have a 5000 download and 256 upload your % would still be calculated with the 8000/512 people.. being on road runner.. From what your speeds are it looks like you are on the 5000/384 package.. In which case the upload is quite a bit low.. That could be a signal problem.. or just a lot of usage on your node.. However, the download, with some tweaking, should be able to get right around your cap.. that is pretty a pretty solid score. Hope that help.. if you are intersted in tweaking.. http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-2097 read that then post..
  12. Right now the genuine advantage program is still in it infancy.. There are ways around it.. downloading from other sites, disabling it (dont know if the javascript tricks still work), and i guess there is a program out there that takes care of it... About a month ago MS was thought to be building a kill switch in an update.. Which would report back about the status of your copy.. legal or illegal.. http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9001559 All in all if you decide to go illegal.. be prepaired to pay the price if you are caught.. cause it will be more than the $200 for a legal license..
  13. it takes the overhead off the cpu.. which in a game if you are maxing your CPU.. i dont know of any games that currently max the high end chips.. but it would theoretically help.. http://www.bigfootnetworks.com/ the have a "lag" meter to show you who is laggin..
  14. anything from antec is going to be good.. and if you have problems they will actually stand behind their product unlike everyone else in computer market.. I would have called antec about that noise.. they might have sent you a new PS.. As far as them going on sale... the upper end rarely goes on sale.. 450watts should be more than enough for that system currently.. however, if you plan on running SLI or a PCI-e graphics card in there anytime soon.. might want to bump it to 500-550watts.

    router problem

ahh.. yes.. the MR814 the biggest POS that netgear ever released.. One of my buddies has one and always loses the WAN IP and the wifi has a mind of its own.. If you have a chance get rid of it.. you are putting yourself through more trouble than its worth.
  16. I know there were quite a few of you looking for some external storage.. Circuit city is blowing out, with mail in rebates, some of there external storage. 160gb for $69.99 http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetail.do?c=1&oid=134826&catOid=-12976 250gb for $99.99 http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetail.do?c=1&oid=134827&catOid=-12976

    router problem

While you are at it.. I would reflash the firmware.. it shouldnt do that..
  18. I posted something on this a while back in the news.. about 6 months ago.. I guess they have a switch and entire network line made just for gamers with minimal lag..
  19. what linksys router? This is the dhcp server.. for local addresses..
  20. junkieXL is correct.. unless they are two different brands.. like linksys and dlink.. otherwise both router would be 192.168.0.1 (dlink) as their hardware IPs.. now if you were to plug into the wan port from one to the other.. it would assign that second router an IP (192.168.1.100).. If you were to connect a computer to the second router.. that is where the problem is.. you have the WAN IP set to 192.168.0.100 and a client on that side of the network set to 192.168.0.100... By turning off DHCP and plugging into the port one on the router.. it becomes a "smart" switch..
  21. sounds like spyware.. it shouldnt really lag.. the only time that I have seen something like that is with a bad stick of ram in the motherboard.. That was on an 754 Athlon 64.. so you might want to check your ram.. Has the computer ever not lagged with 3 gigs in it?
  22. first change the work group!! if you have wireless and are sharing files that is a really bad thing to do with the default still on... If i remember correctly you have to turn it on.. right click my computer -> remote.. Dont turn on remote assistance.. that isnt what you want.. try that..
  23. the responce time is 2ms.. come on..
  24. So asus is trying to do what abit did with the Fatal1ty line? exclusive for gamers.. interesting..
