Whoo hoo! Now what will all the dial up users and gamers have to complain about? But definitely an improvement to your site, CA3LE. Keep up the great work......... edit: (I am kidding, BTW)

I'm just too lazy to answer others back instantly. I would rather do it at my own convenience. It is nice that it's there when you do want to chat with someone in real time.

Good news....

What do you think Van? I can never achieve above ~7.5mbps through the router with the 10mbps WAN port. As soon as I can get my 2 year old to freakin' leave me alone , I will test the theory. (I do love him dearly, though) Victor, I would probably look for a router with a 10/100 WAN port.
-
I guess I am thinking on the cable modem side, the older modems with 10mbps WAN ports can't pull much over 7mbps no matter what the downstream cap is set to. AND, if I thought about it, I pull about 9.5 on my home network when transfering. Victor, what model is your Belikin router? I have 2 routers, one Microsoft MN-500 (I think) it has a 10/100 switch, BUT the WAN port is only 10mbps. My other router is a D-Link DI-524, and its WAN port is 10/100 selectable.

Hey VictorS - First, are you running through a wired or wireless router (I'm assuming wired). Second, is it a 10/100 switch? If so, verify that ALL links are running 100mbps. You can manually force them to 100mbps if you have to. I am asking this because if your link is set back to 10mbps somewhere in the route, you will not easily achieve above 7mbps. When the link is set to 10mbps, the ethernet overhead will limit your true connection to about 7mbps, which is where you are with the router. Verify that and let us know.

Nice speeds. You have a Thomson modem? I have never heard of that make of modem. I agree 100% about not installing the cable companies software. It has no use, sometimes there is a diagnostic prog with it, but nothing special. Also, their software installs their dang logo all over your PC.

Uhh, look at his speeds. REVOUTIONIZED is getting all of his 9/1 speeds, and then some. Maybe consider his advice and at least try it, you may be surprised.
-
What are your signal levels? Motorola modems (and many others) use http://192.168.100.1 to open diagnostics page. If you can get your signal levels, post back here....

Ditto - bad checksum.... I tried updating to 1.4 from 1.3, still no go. I can't get it to cancel the download attemp either. (must kill via task manager)

I understand the beta part, I'm not hating IE7 in any way. I should have looked to correct the problems I had with it, but figured I'll let the Einsteins do that and then go back to when it is final.

I haven't seen a Google add on testmy in months (sorry, CA3LE). Just use the wildcard * like netmasta explained. BTW, I was on IE7 a few days back, had issues and had to revert back to IE6. I hope there is more to come with IE7, liked the tabbed browsing on it except in FF you can right click anything and 'open in new tab'. IE7 did not have that option in the favorites pull down. And when I expanded the drop down menus, the browser would just close Should have started a new topic - sorry.

Sorry, I forgot that we still use the Pony Express. Brave horses trying to run across the oceans. BTW, the first cable laid across the Atlantic Ocean was done in 1858: http://www.history-magazine.com/cable.html links: http://www.electrical-contractor.net/Fiber_Optics_Main.htm http://www.agilent.com/Feature/English/archive/C017.html http://www.globalcrossing.com/xml/news/2000/february/17.xml http://www.globalcrossing.com/html/map05_11_05.html

Yes, there are large fiber optic lines connecting the continents. Some data is also transported by satellite.

They upgraded to 9/1 in Omaha, also. Did this a few weeks ago, but they just started advertising it recently.

From CNN.com. http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/10/05/katrina.tech.response.ap/index.html Good story for the News Archive maybe?

Are you on RoadRunner by chance. Just caught his story a little bit ago, may be your problem, netmasta: http://www.broadbandreports.com/shownews/68174 edit: just looked below your avatar: Comcast; but this could still be an issue.

Amen.... I am just going back to DOS and BBS's...etc; no more browser

Impressive video and pictures, dlewis23, now we know where you could use all that bandwidth. Everything else worked good on my machine, it was just that first video, I tried it 4 times - killed my PC all 4 times. I think I'll try it again (Not).
-
Just- hit it right on the on the head I would still like to check out some of your work, dlewis23. I am fully updated and cannot understand why my PC dies when I try to run your video. If you have another video that you wouldn't mind sharing, I would like to see it. -Peace.

Version 10 since it has been out... edit: I am adding a screenshot of the Online Crash Analysis from MSoft..

Is the 64bit code the problem on my end do you think? I am not a video guru, but I am going to upgrade the entire system soon, and will probably go with AMD X2 64BIT, etc..
-
Well, I wish I could check out your video, dlewis, I would like to see your work, but I am afraid of the instant computer restart again, and the errors I get once it comes back up. Odd, I have a P4 2.53GHZ, 1024MB RAM, and an ATI All In Wonder 7200 video card (may be the problem, 64MB).

I believe the one with the OC48's is what he uses for work mainly..sharing the large video files...
